Hey all, some interesting ideas going on at the moment.
I suggest we learn to walk before we start moon walking whilst juggling chainsaws.

What was it again? Left, then right, then left, then right, then right...doh... he trips and smashes his face on the curb...ouch...maybe I'll just stick to crawling.

Anyway, enough of my verbal diarrhea, who's got a combo to test tonight?
Please have a car AND track, as we will not be using any of the old tracks, as this will inevitably bias the decision.

If there's nobody with a combo ready, I guess I'll have to get my one out...ooh err misses.

I'll be online in an hour or so, but feel free to open a private lounge regulars!

👍

This is why we need Mr A to keep us on the straight and narrow.

Edit: the good tracks will be used for the feature race at the end of the four weeks cycle. Still need to figure out which race car to use. Something that you can personalise.

My idea was any car tuned to your liking fitting 1300kgs/500hp on racing hards. The cars I listed were just the ones I'd actually tested to get an idea on things

I like it, but we want your track too Sam!

Phil, I'll be sending you my spare Clio for testing later.
I'm not sure how to do it myself, but some clever people know how to send it back/pass it on whilst still keeping it.

So if anyone needs one, get Phil to send you mine.

My lounge will be open soon, unless someone has got there first.

👍

Hello all

After a couple of nights of testing, here are the contenders.

1. We have Phil's highly excitable Nissan March 12SR's.

They weigh around 850kg and have 230hp on Sports Hard.
They bounce around Phil's cambered track like manic puppies and are sure to provide some excellent close racing. The various racing lines on this track should encourage overtaking too!

2. Next up is a team effort from Tiggles and Turbonator.
Weighing in at 1300kg and with a whopping 502hp, you need all the grip your Sports Soft have to offer.
The track is fast and flowing and although around 3 miles long, still only takes 1.30s to get round. If I drove this track in real life, I would discover the colour of adrenaline is brown.

3. Finally we have my Clio Cup Pocket Rockets
305hp on Sports Mediums is enough to hustle this cheeky little fella round nicely. 1150kg is not so little, but he's probably just big boned or whatever excuse fatties come out with now days. The track is short and sweet which should keep the pack together.

So, now it's down to you guys to tell us what you want to do.
There can obviously be a bit of tweaking with the regs/track/car, but we need to focus on just one of these for testing this evening, just so we can nail it.

Vote on this thread for one of the following
1. Phil's Puppies
2. T and T's Beasts
3. Pocket Rockets

Jon, I forgot to make my track available for you to test, I'm doing it now.

I won't be around tonight, but I will keep an eye on the thread to see what's going on.

p.s. Tiggles and Phil, have I got the regs right for your combo? wasn't sure about tyre choice more than anything.

Alexi, compliments for your design with the voting system! It looks great 👍 !

I will not vote, for I haven't tested all the combo's. I will however be on tonight, so watch out! :nervous::scared:

I'll have to abstain from voting too as I have been absent for the testing period. I'm sure you guys will pick an excellent combo and I look forward to racing on whatever it may be this weekend

Hi gents, I just want to start off by saying that I appreciate the intrest TCR had last night and please be patient with TCR as we try and find our feet with this new format. We want to keep this as entertaining as possible. I will only maybe be able to get online around 22:30 gmt, and Alexi is working late tonight so if anybody that wants to try out the combos online tonight before your vote has been cast please feel free to open a room.

My lounge is open for now, if there are any early birds out there

Its boring in here

Making a choice on who's combo to use can be difficult as those not chosen could be offended. Perhaps they could be used on a future week?

The combo's are varied but I vote for Phil's combo, not only because it uses a car not normally seen at TCR, but also because Phil is the one to regularly open a room when Jon or Alexi are unable to 👍

So for me it's Phil's Puppies.

Gents TCR is not going anywhere and I want TCR to be the place to show off the best 3 sector tracks you can get out of track creator. It must feel like a track, rumble strips are great to use as brake markers or a point to aim for when turning into a corner, if you are unable to get a rumble strip then a barrier is also a great maker. I spend sometimes four hours looking for a track this includes working on it and I think it shows with my tracks but I’m critical about the track and if I can’t find a rumble strip on a crest or on an important corner I chuck the track and move on to the next one. To see where you are going is important. I don’t just slap a three sector track together and hope you guys will find it fun.

Sometimes the simplest tracks are the most fun, if you look at real life tracks there is only about ten to fifteen corners in a track so bear this in mind when creating the track. Camber is also very useful with track creator as you can level the track over crests and you can also use it to see the apex of the corner as well as offer grip. It’s challenging to find a good randomly generated track, which is the whole challenge behind it.

I’m pretty sure you guys are all just about the racing, I’m also up for a good race but I also look for a track that is challenging and offers tricky bits, places where you can out brake yourself, straights to overtake, fast flowing off cambered corners or a tricky corner before the straight, these are things to take into consideration.

Now my vote would go towards the track that feels like a track, why because I love creating tracks. Rumble strips located in key areas and challenging. If it’s a good track it doesn’t matter what car you use it will be fun. But obviously if it’s tight and twisty it would suit a low powered car if it’s got good straights a high powered car and so on. I will also take into consideration if I’m in the back (I was going to say front but that doesn’t happen often these days so I’ll say back) of the pack during a race I want to feel challenged by the track.

Now Phil I really appreciate your combo and you do loads for TCR but your track well it doesn’t feel like a track and it also has a blind crest but we can learn to make good tracks together.

The two T’s combo is fast a real thrill as far as the cars and track goes and you are able to make mistakes as well as see where you are on the track and it feels like a track.

Alexi’s, well he to does loads for TCR. Love the car choice but I’m going to be at the back of the pack and well the track just doesn’t make me want to go round and round. But well we will do some kick *ss combo’s together for the future.

So my vote goes to the two T’s, thrill and adrenaline.

I think all these options and track submissions feel like a chore, not to sound selfish or anything as I highly appreciate all the work Jon and Alexi do. I spent a handful of hours trying to make a track and got nowhere, and to be honest running test sessions with different cars and tracks I really didn't feel committed to the cause, the most fun I actually had was the two races I had with spy at the old track. I'm just speaking my view here, but I feel that your over complicating a good thing here. Rather than pick and choose between the combos your better off just slotting them into a week and having fun with what you've got... cheers

Taking a break from work.

I agree with you on all points Jon. In a way , I don't want waste the clio's on that track I made.

My vote goes to T&T's combo, but I would like to use phil's manic puppies one day!

This was done to include anyone that felt they had a good track. And I agree, but it won't be complicated unless you feel you have an absolutely awesome track that you want to share. If everybody just slaps a three sector track together then yes it does become complicated.

Edit: I would be happy to give pointers as I have so much fun creating tracks and maybe I could pass on that enjoyment on to you. Who knows you could find that absolutely awesome track.

My turn to report out of the three we tested which having the time I know most don’t have, the one I should vote for is Bell circuit and the Pocket Rockets Renaultsport Trophy as the Pink bomber reigned supreme video below.

The one I had the most enjoyment out of was Phil’s Puppies haven’t laughed so much in a long time but I would be biased to vote for that, I leave that to Cobani, Mr D, Turbonato and Ali to pass judgment as they were testing with me last night, myself I don’t think they should vote for this as it could soon wear a little thin as a four day race event. Fine as a one off just for the shear enjoyment but not if your looking for a serious race event, new concepts are always hard to swallow until you give them time to grow on you.

So I’m going with T and T’s Beasts this should prove to be entertainment for a race event like last weeks, as long as it’s not a two horse race again, last week’s was bordering on the boredom side until everyone started to use a good mix of cars, then the event came alive with good close racing and not a predicable finish.

With regards to track building I know I’m not an expert, but I just noticed something doing a seasonal B-spec at Spa Francorchamps one of the most word famous tracks, this too has three sectors I believe albeit longer having 20 turns to the full circuit, how close my feeble three sector circuit looks to that of Spa.

Rotate my circuit clockwise a few degrees or Spa anticlockwise a little and the same basic shape is still there with only 16 turns.

Phillip.

Awesome write up Phil and a good read. Very enjoyable.

Looking forward to some Zonda this evening or the MP4 or the 458 wow so much to choose from. I always share tracks and don’t necessarily get a chance to test them thoroughly so maybe if you wanted to help with combo suggestions this is also a route you could take. The current one shared is nice with the Clio 👍 Curb hoping and hearing the engine note changing quite fun.

Edit: Oh and another thing I wanted to ask was if you guys could keep an eye for the Jaguar E-TYPE Coupe ‘61
, would like to use this car in the future.

Nice one Phil, some good analysis there.

Sam, as Jon said, we've tried to make the testing days far more inclusive for a few reasons. We're hoping it will give us a better insight to what people like, create more variety and also make it something that is run and regulated by it's members.
It's early stages yet, so we'll see what happens, but I think you may have a point about it being too complicated. However, it might just be because it's a change that will take a few weeks to get use to.

Although there's not been many votes (hopefully this will change as time goes on. Oh and Captain, we're all big boys here, so don't worry about offending people. I doubt anyone would be offended if someone doesn't like their track...or would they? I'm worried now, lol) Looks like T&T's combo is the winner, unless some last minute votes come in.

Anyway, I'm sure whatever and wherever we're driving tonight, it'll be fun!

👍

Just remembered, I'm winning and dining my wife this evening. With any luck, I'll wine her enough for her to pass out when we get back...so I can get online.
I'm such a terrible husband.

Lol i hear you Alexi...had to do the same with my missus last couple of days...result:i am painting the entire house at the moment... :yuck:

But he!if it makes her happy i am happy!!! :)

So i will see you all this weekend soonest!

:lol::lol::lol::lol: I burst out laughing in the office and everybody is wanting to know why. Mr A......

Edit: Responding to what Alexi was saying. If while testing on test days if the track is no good then there and then eliminate the track. I have built a dodgy track in the past take the Elise event for example. Also I think that you should be able to use any car while testing, as I use certain cars to see how bumpy the track is as this can cause the cars to be very unstable.

Sorry I dont have time to elaborate more about the choice between the three great combo's you guys have come up with. My vote goes to the T & T beasts as well ;)

HA, bit of a funny story... I thought to myself, yea sure! I'll help him out and check the ol used dealership... 5th car in the list. Fully restored it and painted it Jaguar racing green... Have NOT duplicated it, so as a thanks for the tracks and effort. Enjoy!

And on the subject of desired cars... Here is my pride and joy! The RUF BTR, oh how much I love you so...
