We have the "Calling all Track Designers thread", so why not turn it into a little competition. I've tried this before, but I think starting afresh with some different (and simpler) rules is better than resurrecting that thread.
  1. A user chooses a scenario for a circuit, and makes a post explaining the rules. It can be almost anything they want, but keep it in the real world.
  2. Competitors design their tracks using satellite view on GMap-Pedometer. Only one entry per person can be judged, but multiples can be submitted if one is marked as the entry.
  3. The user who set the competition chooses the winner after a few days.
  4. The winner then sets their own competition or defers it to someone or anyone else, who will choose the next winner, who will set the next competition and so on.

Example rules/criteria/parameters people can set for their competitions:
  • Location (e.g. "Melbourne, Australia", "crosses the Poland/Germany border", "Istanbul Park" or whatever)
  • Track length (e.g. "Less than 2mi", "7km max", "Suitable for Formula E" or whatever you like)
  • Track type (e.g. Street Circuit, Modified Permanent Circuit) - Note that even for full street circuits, a little bit of 'new' road should be allowed as it's sometimes necessary
  • What type of racing the track is intended for (F1, Mixed Class, Touring Cars...)
  • If buildings can be destroyed or not
  • If road width (or "possible road width, if road was widened) and elevation should be accounted for or not.
  • If run off should be accounted for
  • If a pit lane needs to be designed, and what minimum length it should be (e.g. 150m, 250m...)
This is not an exhaustive list, you can be as strict or open as you like, just make sure it's obvious what is required.

Irish Grand Prix
The Irish Grand Prix has been confirmed, to be hosted on a street circuit in Dublin.

Design an F1 circuit in the city of Dublin, make sure that there is space for a pitlane adjacent to the start straight. Keep the track on public roads and don't destroy buildings, not even for runoff areas. 3.5-7km length.

How do I draw on GMap-Pedometer?

Like, I know I've probably missed something, but that doesn't change the fact I can't draw a thing...

Click on the map and it will place a checkpoint.

Oh, it seems I needed to start recording first...

Anyway, here we have what I had in mind. Admittedly it does share a lot of sections with what @UnkaD came up with, but considering this track goes in the other direction and all that, and I had the idea before seeing his track, I suppose it's alright. :P

Here is mine.

Overall it looks quite fast, a few chicane here and there may keep things safer.
I think that O'Connel Street could offer enough room for a pit lane. (something like Shoreline Drive at Long Beach)

It's hard to leave out that half-circle, huh?

edit: Just after I wrote this I see the entry above.

Dat half-circle is what gives the track better variety with all these 90 degree corners. :D

Mine here

Using that semi-circle corner, few tight bends, to follow a long windy backstretch, and a few 45 to 90 degree corners. I've got to say, it turned out way better than I expected.

(Also the start/finish line is a little bit after checkpoint 2)

Here's my attempts :)

I couldn't get the map to draw exactly how I wanted it to around marker #2. My preference would be to take the smoother, faster line through this network of corners.

This would be my ultimate track...too long for modern standards though.

Edit: another idea. No half circle in this one :)

Edit 2: my last one for the night. The little hiccup before mile marker 2 needs smoothig out...too tired  after drawing this one out, I think it would work best run CCW.
