So, I've been a little hesitant to spend my hard earned cash in Sport since I thought of this. I haven't seen any info on this anywhere, it may be a wait and see sorta thing. One of my issues with Sport has always been the grind to make money. It is, to me, the most difficult GT to make cash. I'm well on my way to another 20 million dollar car, but then I started thinking 'maybe we will be able to transfer some or all of our credits'.

Wondering if A) anyone has heard anything and B) what your opinion is on this. I'm hoping, like past GTs, we can.

Doesn’t look like we will. Kaz said in the first(?) gtp interview, he wants everyone to start from scratch. Yes, we can buy the pre-orders with credits and cars, but not load game saves.
Ah....darn. I just hope the money isn't such a grind. I want the 10-20 million dollar cars, but it takes a long time. I get the rarity factor, but they are (almost!) literally all I've bought since release and I'm not going to get them all

No mention on liveries yet then? I 'read' from this that means we will have to start liveries from scratch too?

Money I can understand, would not be fun if you had the 'expensive' stuff on day one.

IIRC about game progress (money, garage), you need to start from scratch. But as for user-generated content (liveries, decals etc), it will be available for both Sport and 7.

If you are still unsure, do not preorder and just wait until the game releases and let everyone try, or wait until the news is out

Nope.
But GT7 should have some way of making credits much quicker than GTS... After 4 long years of playing, I still dont have all the 20 millon cars lol (only one missing tho). Money grinding is terrible in GTS and of course the roulette cheats you and never gives you the most expensive cars.

I don't have any of them, because as a time trial player I don't save that much money so easily .. And I don't like repeating the same types of races over and over again and the reward is still lower than it should be.

Wouldn't transferring credits kinda ruin the "eco-system" of the game? It makes no sense to have 20,000,000 right off the bat and kinda ruins the "user journey" of completing the game.

This is probably more feasible given that the liveries are generated from SVG vector files and shouldn't necessarily be dependent on resolution.

That's like asking me if I want to start OmegaRuby with a L5 Mudkip or my L100 Greninja from my X playthrough.

I don't think there's any correlation there. In Pokemon, transferring over a stronger Pokemon means you'll trump everything because it's massively more powerful than anything in the game. It doesn't work that way at all in racing games as you'll get a car that you'll be able to use in specific events only, typically racing against similar vehicles. It's giving you time advantage, but it's not putting you in any better position in the race, it's just giving you an option of a different car.

Right now, look how many have pre-ordered. All of us that have, have the option to use the pre-order content. We’ll have to see how we advance in the game. We might only be able to use the pre-order cars in Arcade an Sport Mode. Simulation Mode may have locked tiers where we can’t use those cars. Maybe the GR Yaris, in a Beginner tier of the game.

Anyway, there’s over 1,000,000 Cr., that can get those of us that use the option to purchase certain vehicles, to help us enter certain races… maybe. Once we know how the game begins( whether some jump straight into Sport Mode for FIA Nations/Manu and/or LOBBY Community, Offline only, livery creators only, tuners only), we’ll see how the Gran Turismo community choose to play their own individual game.

Gran Turismo is basically an RPG game of sorts, where the experience is heavily centered around progression, rags to riches of sorts. Starting with a solid but not gamebreaking bonus for playing the previous iteration(s) is a nice help and a good way to reward loyalty. But all of the credits? Starting GT7 with likely millions of dollars is a bit wild. A lot of other GT's in the past would have their experiences cheapened or ruined altogether if you did something similar. PD not allowing you to get such a boost should be rewarded with a good experience starting from scratch, something they have dropped the ball on lately. It simply cannot feel like such an immense grind.

A lot of GT's in the past have been offering credits upon starting the game, for many iterations now, it's nothing new. It's also no different with GT7, you get 1,000,000 credits simply for pre-ordering the game. What you're talking about is already happening regardless if players are allowed to transfer their own or not.

In GT7 they should bring back those seasonal events that gave you sometimes a million or even several million for completing it, and get rid of the stupid roulette that gives you the same repeated cars over and over again and you can't even sell them for some money.

Get rid of stupid roulette, absolutely. Either give it duplicate protection, or allow the cars to be sold. Or come up with some other method of rewarding people altogether.

Massively overpaying seasonals, I'd rather they just designed a robust economy that put out a fair amount of money for whatever you're doing and had cars priced at appropriate levels to be affordable without grinding for 40 hours but still feel like an achievement to purchase.

Please, I hope it´s not allowed.

Agreed. I feel like it'd really kill the spirit of the game's design if you could transfer much from GTS to GT7, whether it's credits or cars in themselves. That said, I'd be down with a much smaller bonus for if you simply have a GTS game save, like a little more extra starting credits.

Transferring credits may be frowned upon, if there are online lobbies and Sport Mode races that are open day one and the car choices are 20million classics. However, transferring credits absolutely does not effect the whole Gran Turismo community through solo play. A person can still transfer 100million Cr and still not use it to buy their first car. There wouldn’t be a Gran Turismo law that says players must use those transferred credits or be booted from their own game.

I enjoy starting from scratch. I enjoyed transferring my credits in GT4. I’d enjoy having the option(I don’t have the game any longer and deleted my online save anyway. So that’s out). There’s nothing wrong with the option.

I've bought GT Sport cars with real money from the PS store. Because it takes time I do not have to obtain enough in-game credits.
To me it looks just honest if those purchased cars can be transferred to GT7.

Sounds fair indeed if you put real money on it !

Or giving the user a choice between the car of the roulette, or a fixed reward in credits like 50k or whatever (more fun if you have to choose before the roulette result :D)

Or doing instead a "weekly" roulette, but without duplicates, would be cool too.

The current daily roulette of GT sports gives too much/too fast at the beginning, and then become a waste after some time playing

Why? If you bought the cars for GT Sport how is it "fair" (or indeed "honest") to give you them for free in GT7?

You got what you paid for. Why is there any expectation you should get more than what you paid for?

This 100%.

Forza Horizon doesn't let players carry over credits and cars from 4 over to 5, so why would Gran Turismo?

Does Yakuza 6 let you start the game with Tiger Drop unlocked if you've completed Yakuza 5?

Does GTA V give Franklin, Michael and Trevor anything you that you might have earned as Niko, Johnny and Luis in GTA IV?

No, they don't, because why on earth would a developer do something that would completely undermine the journey that a game takes players on purely to satisfy a minority of players who want to skip to the good part near the end?

If I would be able to transfer them, I would buy some more cars for GT Sport now.
Otherwise not.
And will still see if I'll buy any in GT7.

Probably I'm not alone in this situation.

For those who do prefer to start all over again. No problem ...
The transfer (as in previous GT games) is never mandatory.

So you will be allowed to buy your cars again.
