This is not the tweaking page, It's were you choose which parts you want to be installed. Just like GT3. The tweaking of suspensions and ratios and hopefully turbo boost :) and etc... ! is on another menu!

8400RPM
This reliable enough for ya? As long as it's only used in drag racing, which I'm sure it will be, I have no problem with it.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I really like that settings menu! :embarrassed: 👍 I wonder how the garage menu would look like when you click on a car. I am sure it would have the car spinning slowly in a circle, but it would be better if you can manually scroll around the car to look at anyplace in the car such as the bottom, top or the intererior of the car and MAYBE THE ENGINE! :embarrassed:

Ah, yes, I see the little arrow now.. so the "Sets" are probably presets. That'll make things handy, having quickly-accessed presets for different types of tracks.

Am I the only one that seems to remember this was featured when GT3 was still incomplete, and shown in demo form? I swear I remember there being mention that you could zoom in and focus on some details of the car, at the very least.

I suppose it's kind of pointless with the addition of Photo Mode, however.

I poted this in the wrong thread before.:

Bottom of page 8:

TIPS: Print out your photos nicely with a high quality colour printer

The photos taken in Photo Mode can be printed out with a colour printer. According to Mr. Yamauchi, virtually any USB printer can be used. One of the printers reported compatible is the Seiko-Epson Colorio. Because you can print out your favourite photos, you can now put them in a frame or give them to friends as a gift.

Arcade Mode - left hand box (page 9)

Quick tune for a comfortable drive

A new feature in GT4. You can simply tune your car before a race.

01 Power: Change the car's power by +/- 20%. Lowering it results in lower straight line speed.

02 Weight: Set the weight of the car by +/- 10%. Lower is faster.

03 Max Speed: Can only be changed on racing cars. Setting the top speed higher results in a lower acceleration.

04 Transmission: AT or MT. AT is recommended for beginners.

05 Tyre Type: Set the tyre type in softness. Softer tyres have higher grip but last shorter.

Replay Theater (Replay Theater - Watch race replays)

Same as the Replay theater in GT Mode. Watch the replays in your memory card any time you want. A fun idea is to bring along memory cards, and have a replay watching session with friends.

Caption (L): If you find an interesting race scene, remember to save the replay.
Caption (C): The size of the saved replay depends on the race course.
Caption (R): Only GT makes you feel special when watching a replay.

TIPS: Enjoy GT with Pro Logic 2 sound!
GT4 supports Pro Logic 2 which allows playing of 2 channel sound with 5.1 speakers. This now means that engine noises, tyre screeches can be heard with much more excitement. If you have a home theater system, try playing GT4 with it. You will be blown away with the new expreience it brings. If you can't afford or don't have the space for a home theater system, buy a set of 4.1 speakers and postion them in front and back of you.

Cars that evolved into the people's transport
If you consider a car as "a type of transport driven by a gasoline engine", then the history of cars has a 120 year history. With the introduction of the first mass produced car, the Ford Model T, the car has become the transport for ordinary people.

The Japanese cars that showed colour of Eurpean and American cars
After the introduction of fully Japanese cars in the 50s, the 60's saw the Japanese car companies grow rapidly in order to match and beat the American and European cars. At this time sports cars were the center of attention amoung ordinary people and coupes with flowing styling became very popular. At the same time with introduction of Toyota's Publica (eventually became the Corolla), the family car also became very popular. With the slogan "Japanese cars are cheap and won't break" many Japnese cars were exported. Also, it was said that "high performance cars can't be made by Japanese makers" but Nissan "Fairlady Z", touted as the cheap sports car, was a huge hit in North America. It was an age where people realised that Japanese cars could compete with overseas models. In America, large capacity sports cars became popular and sports cars with flowing lines was in its golden age.

Wow, this is heaps, well done! I'm still stuck many pages back :(.

On Page 8 & 9, are you able to please translate the captions by the pictures in the TIPS part?

page 8 caption (L): Take lots of pictures in the included scenes. Enjoy the travelling in the photomode.

caption (R): Depending on the printer, the printed photos are very good quality.

page 9 captions

L: In GT4, the full accelerator engine sound has been recorded.

L: More fun can be had with pro logic 2 speakers.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

oosacker thank you so much for the translation once again! :embarrassed::tup: Keep up the work because we are all counting on ya! What got me most excited have to be the support of Prologic II! GT4 would sound much more realistic now and I wonder how my Subwoofer would pound the ground!

Unfortunately, I've found Pro Logic II to be a bit of a trade-off. In exchange for the extra channels, you lose some of the bass. I've tested it on quite a few PLII-encoded games, and while the surround sound is "richer", the normal stereo sound is "deeper", with more oomph from the subwoofer than PLII has (because it has only 5 channels, not 5.1.. there's no dedicated LFE for the subwoofer).

If anyone's found a workaround or a setting for recievers that could alleviate this, please let me know. :) I'm very much looking forward to racing GT4 in PLII. :)

Wow, Oosacker. I'm sure we can rely on you when tidings of the next GT rolls around!

Anyhow, the game gets better and better. One aspect as to how a game gets better than the last is ease of use in menus and in tweaking certain options. For example in "Grand Theft Auto 3," if you have to quickly jump out of your car to avoid getting hit by police cars (especially after 2 Wanted Stars, meaning 3 all the way to 6), you have to take the impact, then get out of the car ONLY when you come to a complete stop. In the sequel, Vice City, you can simply fly out of the car at will when into danger. I hope to get San Andreas this Christmas, speaking of the GTA series, but that's not the point.

I think a BIG point, however, is perhaps something I've longed for since GT2, the ability to pre-tune your car before a race. GT veterans may remember having to tune the car at home or to a race (but not actually race the event), just to subtract some horsepower or change tires maybe. If all goes well, we may be able to tune cars at home or someplace instead of having to go to races to do some simple tuning. Big two thumbs up to PD and Kazunori Yamauchi 👍👍. That Ginetta G4 is so sweet, and I even seen it race at the Monterrey Historics last year. You have to see it in pictures. Something this small, yet so elegant. You know, like that cute petite girl you were digging at the mall or at school. Can't wait to see more! I salute not only Oosacker, but our New Zealander ALPHA as well.

Samberto very kindly donated his booklet to me. oosaker or anybody else for that matter if you require higher resolution scans of any particular part of the guide, don't hesitate to ask.

I read an interesting story about the Honda S800 once. It's engine was known to be very resistant to high revs, you could even drive it on the redline permanently without any problems.

So one day, some scientists got it out of the car and put it on a test stand to see how far it can really go. The result: at 13.000 revs, the test stand collapsed! After that they put the engine back into the car, and it was still running fine.

I'm looking forward to drive that one. :sly: 👍

Cheers,
the Interceptor

Sorry, I've only been able to scan in 1/2 the booklet so far, that's in one hour. I wish I could e-mail them all to you but with 56k it would take a good part next year to finish uploading them.

As a test is this an appropriate resolution?

oosacker
👍 I've only got from pages 17-31 & Back Cover scanned in, I'll start you off with 17 & 18, then tomorrow I'll backtrack to 14 & 15 and upload all the rest. I'm on 56k so bear with me, I'll edit this post and add the scans in as they are done.

I find it funny that on the track pics they don't have all the checkpoints... or even where the start/finish line is... (you normally can work that out though by looking for the pits...)
