Tsukuba lap times for 136 N-class cars - 1 remaining

Tested:

1:03.872 - Tesla Model S Signature Performance

What a weird car. It weighs nearly 4,500 lbs but has its electric motor and driven wheels at the rear. It feels like it weighs half as much as it actually does. Acceleration isn't great, but it finishes its lap alongside such cars as the Lexus LC500, BMW M3, Nissan R34 GT-R, and Ford Mustang GT.
Yeah it used to be really good in GT6 too, must be the really low center of gravity.

It would be great if they added the Model 3 performance version to GT Sport. That would be fun to race against gas engine race cars.

Or the P100D version of the Model S. It would probably be several seconds faster.

Also, guys, I have enough credits for the Vulcan. Should I buy it, or hold out until the new update in a few days?

I think that waiting a few days is the better option. Way more cars can be bought that way, and those cars are more likely to be interesting. The Vulcan was fast in its class pre 1.23, but not gamebreakingly fast (like a high class X-Bow) as many think it should be.
In the update the TVR and the Dino Ferrari will be the most interesting. The TVR has a horspower to weight ratio that is around the top of N400, so it depends on how good it handles. and the Dino is so light that the mediocre power to weight ratio it has might be overcome.
The Porsche has not enough horsepower to challenge the Alpine.
The Z8 is just too heavy. so it isn't probable that it will become META.
The Z33 is a bit on the heavy side as well and the GT350 is around the same weight and power (and it is an old muscle car) so those will probably not be META as well.

But it all depends on what you want to test the most.

I think I'll wait, then. Hope I can buy all the incoming N-class cars with $3 million. I'll work on improving the N100 Alpine, R34 GT-R, Mercedes A45, and C2 Corvette lap times.

It's funny that I owned the Vulcan (tested at Suzuka East) but sold it at some point for money because I didn't want to spend 30 minutes grinding BMB

Edit: I am in shock right now. Took the R34 out and managed a KILLER lap, beating my previous best time of 1:04.081 set on August 5th 2018, with a maniacal 1:03.962 on the 9th consecutive lap. There were a few restarts prior to going 9 straight laps, I'd say 15 laps total to chop off that tenth of a second and bring Godzilla to a 1:03

I'm so proud of that lap. Search the tag 'midfieldmaven' to check it out!

Unfortunately, no luck with the Alpine and C2 Corvette. Both times are unbeatable for me.

Updated:

Old Mercedes A45 AMG time of 1:05.034 has become 1:04.846 but don't ask me how. I was banging out low 1:05's lap after lap and finally lucked out with a 1:04

That's less than 1 tenth slower than R32 GT-R

C2 Corvette and Alpine are going to have to stay where they're at for now, and probably forever.

Hmm...Should I re-test x:xx.1xx cars or relax until the update :boggled::crazy::lol:

You should really try the rubberband trick to farm money when you're away. Custom arcade race on Northern Isle, 2 cars, start last, remove boost, difficulty on high, Gr.1 opponent. Take the Miata for this, give it TCS 1 and supersoft tyres for safety, make sure the right stick is configured for throttle and let the car steer slightly to the right to ride the wall gently. For a 5h race you'll get +/- a million credits.

@MidFieldMaven I am constantly amazed with the lap times you are getting around Tsukuba. I try to challenge your times in different cars so i know if a time is representative as a placeholder. Where it was possible to get a fairly representative time in something like the Abarth 1500 B.A.T., I can't for the life of me get such a time in the Miura. Can you describe how you take on each corner? Or do recommend certain cars for practicing the track?

The Miura is probably a 1:02 car if I had to guess. Similar to Ferrari GTO. Watch that replay by searching 'midfeldmaven' on GTS to see my line.

I really thought it was possible. I gave it everything I had. 50 miles worth of laps around Tsukuba in this piece of understeering turd!

Ford Focus ST goes from 1:07.163 to a depressing, disappointing, disastrous 1:07.004

:irked::mad::banghead: :lol:

Well instead of being a tenth slower than the C2 Corvette, it's now 2 hundredths of a second faster :indiff:

Tested:

1:05.179 - Gran Turismo Greddy Fugu Z
1:08.397 - Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

That Z finishes its fastest lap alongside such icons as the Supra RZ and NSX Type R! Incredible.

The Firebird squeezes in between the Peugeot 208 GTi and Toyota 86. It looks cool, but it's not my style. It's got a massive 6,558 cc engine but only makes 219 hp. That's funny and sad at the same time. At least it has 321 torques...But the dang car weighs 3,616 lbs so it's just slow.

Ive been doing laps myself with the Fugu Z with the stock settings and so far im under 0.200 seconds off your time.

Its such a fun car that i recommend anyone to give it a thrash around Tsukuba. Its awesome

Yes that Z is fantastic. Can't wait to test the Z33 and see how it compares. I'd also like to fine-tune that lap and bring it down to 1:04

Just a heads up, but I won't be able to test any cars tomorrow. Have to get my oil changed at the dealer and then go to work until 7pm.

The good news is that I should be able to test all of them on Friday since I have the whole day off

You've got from 7pm to midnight :sly:

Reporting back !

So yeah, the new physics basically increase longitudinal grip for all tyres (it might even be just a tyre model), which translates mainly into improved traction, and sometimes a sensation of better turn in on braking. For race C, I managed to beat my qualy time in 4 laps, and I'm consistently 3 tenths faster at least. GT86 on Sports Mediums with BoP. Difference might be greater on hards and more powerful cars, and MRs

I also tested the Greddy Fugu Z on Tsukuba and my second lap was a 1:04,422. A 1:04,000 should be possible but it is too late now :-)

1:04.4 is 7 tenths faster than my time. Was this on the new physics? I'm going boot up the game now and test the Integra. The rest will come tomorrow.

Yeah I set this time just now. The problem is I don't know yet whether the physics change made the cars faster or not. I'm curious as it might be possible that I have to retest all cars in my thread too :/

This was the second time I re-tested every car. I will have to really think about re-testing a third time. PD is making the game difficult for us hardcore time trial-ers...

Tested:

1:08.647 - Honda Integra Type R (DC2)

I got a 1:08.999 on my 3rd lap, but this 1:08.6 was only possible after 22 straight laps. It ties with the Toyota 86 (well actually, with the physics update, that car is probably a few tenths faster...)

Hey that's around on par with GT6, I could only go faster (Up to 1:07.9 with the '99) because I could overrev it and somehow gain more speed, now it bounces off the limiter really quick.

Tested:

1:04.825 - Nissan Fairlady Z Version S (Z33)

28.5 miles of driving and most of that time was spent trying to get a 1:04 which happened towards the end. I saw slight room for improvement and have settled on this 1:04.8 time which puts it tied with the FD RX-7 (for now...of course that car is probably faster due to the update. I'll find out after I finish testing this new batch of cars.)

Finished up the fresh batch of cars over a 2 hour marathon session just now.

Tested:

1:03.163 - TVR Tuscan Speed 6
1:03.803 - BMW Z8
1:05.160 - Shelby G.T.350
1:06.751 - Ferrari Dino 246 GT
1:11.783 - Porsche 356 A/1500 GS GT Carrera Speedster

Handling is definitely improved. It's a bummer I can't compare these cars to any other cars tested prior to the update. I will reluctantly re-test everything, most likely...

Re-tested:

OLD - 1:06.427 - Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX TT 2seater
NEW - 1:05.931

It took 11 consecutive laps to break the 1:05 wall. So the Z32 has improved by 5 tenths of a second and the result is 1.1 seconds slower than the Z33.

OLD - 1:04.551 - Alfa Romeo 4C
NEW - 1:03.622

Incredible. Nearly a full second quicker than before, and less than 2 tenths quicker than BMW Z8. Half of a second slower than Tuscan Speed 6.

The update really shows in the MR layouts, it seems.
