Tsukuba lap times for 136 N-class cars - 1 remaining

Last one for today.

OLD - 1:03.962 - Nissan R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur
NEW - 1:03.717

I had only re-tested this car a few days ago, and I struggled immensely for that 1:03.9 and after 10 laps just now I beat it by more than 2 tenths. 4WD doesn't seem to have been affected much.

This update might mean that in N400 the SF-R racing concept will be dethroned by the GT40. They are only 9 thousands apart right now, and since the new physics seem to favor MR cars, so...

It'll be interesting to see if the GT40 will turn out to be faster than the KTM X-BOW. They are less than 2 tenths apart. I'm sure the GT40 will be faster than the S-FR but who knows

But the X-Bow is a MR car as well, so I think that the difference will not be that pronounced. But it will be interesting to see what the differences in relative time will be if one considers that both cars get their times in a very different manner, and so we will be able to better understand the effects of the update.

Also, the effect the update has on RR cars is unknown as of yet. This might yield some interesting results

OLD - 1:11.203 - Toyota S-FR
NEW - 1:11.134

Basically zero change here. It took 13 laps to beat my old time, and I kept going for another 10, hoping to see 1:10 but it's just not possible with my average skills.

Alright, if I do any more laps in the LaFerrari, I'm going to need to take a shower. This car makes you work for a fast lap like no other car in the game. It is completely unforgiving and has entirely too much power. Had it been 4WD, it would crush the Veyron with ease. But because Ferrari is insane, they put almost 1,000 horsepower in a MR car that weighs less than 2,800 lbs. The physics update hasn't done much of anything to help this car. It's still useless below 4th gear. Even your grandmother wouldn't be able to drive this without making the tires commit suicide.

OLD - 0:58.830 - Ferrari LaFerrari
NEW - 0:58.110

Getting 57 seconds would take enormous skill, the likes of which I've never seen before.

Had time for another one tonight. At first, I thought this car got worse after the update. But it didn't. It's just extremely difficult to drive fast. I ended up with a blistering 1:08 after more than 30 minutes of cursing this car out for not cornering the way I needed it to.

OLD - 1:09.015 - Alpine A110 '72
NEW - 1:08.865

Only 2 tenths slower than DC2 Integra Type R

I logged in last night for the first time in a while. I wanted to buy the Z33 and take it for a spin so I decided to hot lap Tsukuba and see how far off your pace I am. I used sports hard tires, morning, ABS default, TC1, default tuning and the controller because sadly I can't set up my G29 right now. I opened with low 1:08 laps that quickly came down to mid 1:07 and then an average lap of 1:07 even. I never restarted a lap just to keep my flow going and my best after about 40 minutes was a 1:06.650. I won the Pug 208 because I hit the daily mileage reward and I had a good time with it. I was only planning on checking out the new cars for a few minutes and then before I knew it I had been playing for about an hour.

I haven't raced this track much, especially on GT Sport, but I remembered my GT5 and 6 lines. The track seemed to have more camber in T2 than I remember and I loved how after about 20 minutes the rubber marbles started to accumulate. The best adjustment I made was leaving the car in 3rd for some of the tight turns to get on the power early and avoid lighting up the rear tires.

I'd say I am happy being 1.8 seconds slower than the MidFieldMaven/SuzukaStar/TsukubaStar. 👍

It's therapeutic almost when you finally get a good feel for the car and start to become consistently fast and develop a flow. I love when I connect with a car so well that I never have to fight with it. The Z33 is a great example of that. I agree, finding out that the car is actually faster through certain corners in a higher gear is wonderful. I'm sure with the G29 you'd come much closer to beating my time

OLD - 1:10.296 - Toyota 2000GT
NEW - 1:10.127

I drove this car for 51 miles, and for about 40 of them, I couldn't beat my old time. I thought this would be the first car that I'd have to record a slower time post-update. The good news is I didn't have to. The bad news is I couldn't get a 1:09 to save my life.

It's exactly one full second quicker than Toyota S-FR.

Interesting to see the new physics across different types of cars. I know making requests is kind of silly but I would love to know if life for the new Alpine A110 is much better now. When the car first came out I couldn't for the life of me drive it anywhere close to quickly and itd be cool if it is now a bit less airy-fairy.

I'll try to give it a go tonight.

So far your times confirm my impressions, the main difference for road cars is traction, as low powered rwd cars and 4wd cars look barely affected. Also, Gr.3 testings are showing what may be a decrease in downforce effects, so the SF-R Racing Concept might get no improvement, or even be slower now. Looking forward to that and the GT40 new times.

OLD - 1:01.555 - KTM X-Bow R
NEW - 1:01.226

Less than 3 tenths slower than Toyota S-FR Racing Concept.

OLD - 1:16.619 - Honda Beat
NEW - 1:16.494

Barely any change there. I just missed the Beat and wanted to drive it again.

OLD - 1:10.986 - Mini Cooper S
NEW - 1:10.161

Huge difference after the update, or maybe my first time out was trash. Anyway, it's 3 tenths quicker than Mazda Roadster.

OLD - 1:07.004 - Ford Focus ST
NEW - 1:06.735

I feel like the car is much improved, but it's not even 3 tenths quicker than before.

I've spent the morning uploading the replays for the cars I've tested since the update. They can be found in the first post.

Tomorrow morning we will see who is fastest between FC RX-7 and MkIII Supra.

For now, I present for your satisfaction:

OLD - 1:05.828 - Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8
NEW - 1:05.144

Same time as the Honda Civic Type R, down to the thousandth of a second. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have our first tie, and it's a good one indeed. The Genesis is now much more enjoyable to drive. It took me 23 laps to put the final nail in this coffin.

OLD - 1:07.980 - Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC)
NEW - 1:07.559

OLD - 1:07.896 - Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo A
NEW - 1:07.209

The Supra was faster than the RX-7 before the update, only by a tenth of a second. Now, it's over 3 tenths faster.

The Supra has 63 more horsepowers and 65 more ft-lbs of torque, but weighs 583 lbs (264 kg) heavier. It reaches 101 mph before braking for the final corner, while the RX-7 nudges 99. Minimum speed through the final corner was 72 mph for the RX-7 and 70 for the Supra. They are very evenly matched here. I prefer the RX-7 overall.
