TT 35: Laguna Seca (SUSPENDED) & Chamonix West. [Post 1 for tunes!]

I thought I did but adding weight doesn't seem to help. The fastest I can get to going up the hill is 142 but I see Amo doing 147. Is there another way that I'm missing?

Gearing? Turbo 3?

Alright guys, I just figured out what I've been doing wrong all this time while doing these TT's and racing in general. Now, most of you may think I'm stupid for this and want to flame me, so go ahead, take your shots, it just doesn't matter anymore. Just keep in mind, I'm still kinda new to this whole curcuit course deal. I'm used to just hitting the gas and turning left, lol. Anyways, its my gearing and the way I shift. Always have just waited till redline to shift. I am now learning to shift at the peak of the powerband. Have improve in most sectors now, just have to put them all together. Even got to 145 going up the hill at Laguna. I know I'm still not top 10 material, but this is a great improvement for me. Alright, flame away for my stupidness.

Thanks @ Usual Suspect,,,,used your revised set up with original setting transmission settings and took over 1.5 seconds off my time straight up. Didn't seem to have to work as hard around the track and looking now to try and get down to at least a 1'39. As posted by KyleBusch I noticed that when I shifted made a significant difference, but the transmission settings themselves seemed to have a greater effect on this than when transmission was set at default.

That there is much less difference between the fastest times and those further down the list (my 1'40.2xx got me into 5067) shows the effectiveness of TT's with more defined parameters regarding vehicles used. More of these type TT's, for me, will be greatly welcomed and am more likely to drive them to get my times down than simply use them as a cash cow to grab the gold and go.

Any improvement cant be negative 👍

Thx Joao for that setup 👍, had a short session with it, the car feel great, didnt had much time to really find the limit (lost my focus quickly anyway )

To get the gearing close to yours i reset the gears,
then set final to 4.682
then set max speed to 180
then adjust the gears (note that i couldnt set 5th gear to 1.450, it was 1.449)
Then set final ratio.

Thx for sharing

🤬🤬🤬🤬 YOU.

Btw I don't know how he gets up to 150 MPH at Chamonix, all I did was put 200 Ballast.

Wasn't expecting that. What the hell did I say to you to bring that on. I never even said anything to you.

Hi all,

I'm new to GT5 and still pretty much a noob in racing. Someone mentioned earlier about shifting gear at peak powerband? What's that? I thought you should always shift at redline?

Looks like Tourettes

It does make a difference but probably not as much as it should or would in real life. One way to test it is to take the car to Route X and try various shift points and track the results. I believe it was Nomis tried it in another thread in the Shelby GT500 if memory serves, shifting at the proper time vs. outside the peak power band and his results were almost identical. I think it varies from car to car.

I think he's just joking KB:crazy: You invited flaming and he was just taking you up on it and the string of "censored" smilies is his way of kidding around...but it's just a guess.

Although I did invite flaming, I was more or less joking about it because of my own stupidity. At any rate, I don't think I deserved a f-u. His use of capitalization suggests no joke. He also seems to have a problem with me because of my opinion on corner cutting. Anyway, I can see from this a various nasty pm's I have gotten over the past few weeks, I am not wanted on this forums. I have been told that I have no idea how to tune a car and that I should stop pretending that I do. Also told that my lap times are nothing but a fluke. I really don't need this headache anymore. To all the elitists that have harassed me through pm, you got your wish. I won't post here anymore. Goodbye.

Did you not read the rest of my post? Obviously not. That was just the last straw of the list of harassing pm's that I have recieved from various people from these forums. Its people like you that make these forums unenjoyable anymore. You don't bother reading, you just see what you wanna see in order to take a shot at someone or belittle them. That guy has had a problem with me as it is because of my opinion on something which is why I doubt it was a joke. So, try reading or know what your talking about before you post. I have shared tunes and have helped people on here and this is what I get for it. I've got enough problems in my real life, I don't need this crap.

Hey KB,
I am reading this forum for a couple of weeks, but actually this is my first post now. Amongst others, it was also you who helped me too improve my TT times with some tune's and stuff. I really appreciate it and it would be a pity to loose you here in this forum. At least this is what i think about it.
Life's a bitch and you're right - nobody needs such crap - so don't pay attention to it, at least try to and don't take it too serious. I am sure there are also a lot of people who appreciate what you've done. So keep this in mind. And give a **** about the crap ;)
Keep racing...and posting.
Cheers from Germany, Cole

KB18FAN, he was joking. Winston Churchill famously said that Britain and America were two nations divided by a common language. It looks like that might also apply to Michigan and New Jersey.

Now why don't we get back to the real reason for this thread; helping me improve my Chamonix time ;-)

Someone realy must do TT discussion thread where you can cry about shortcuts and everything else what you got on your heart 👍
I haven't seen days anything serious TT talking here what it was before...

Churchill also said "If you are going through hell, keep going". Not sure what you have going on in your personal life but it will get better.

As far as your tunes are concerned KB, if it helps at least one person out then you have achieved what you set out to do and that is to share. My advice would be to report any harassment!

I have used tunes posted on here that oppose my driving style and as a result my times get worse, I don't then get upset with the person who recommended it. Tunes are down to personal preference and driving lines, entry and exit speeds are what most people should be focusing on.

KB, just ignore the crap. It's the internet. Some people are extremely brave from behind their keyboards. Block the people who are sending you negative pm's. They're most likely jealousy-driven in any event. Your posts & assistance add to the site, so don't let the a-holes win. 👍

Usual Suspect
This is the tune i´m using at the moment :dunce:

Time - 1'35.353

No aero, and with only ECU, engine tune 3 and exaust titanium

Can´t remember how i changed the gear setup, is not the usual tranny trick :ouch:

Thanks for posting your tune, really good transmission. Im using your lsd setting as well but a more oversteery suspension. Great lap btw.
I had a quick run this morning and got a 1'35.9 even with a more untidy first sector. I think it was the pull of third gear out of the last corner that got me infront of my ghost. Still about 2 tenths left for me on track if I tidy sector 1 and get the braking right for the corkscrew. Cheers

@usual suspect....Thanks for posting your tunes. The updated version has worked well, shaving .400 off my time on my second lap. So, thanks!

KB - You add a lot to this forum, including your tunes which helped me end up as top american on the spa/905 TT. I appreciate your posts and your shares. BTW, your DLC painted cars are very cool. Great work.

Thanks for the tunes Usual Suspect and Dazmeister22.
This is the first time I have revisited a T.T. after getting gold, and have gone from just inside top 10,000 in a EVO IV, to 309th in a EVO VIII MR, to 152nd in a EVO X with a 1'36.819 :D

Sorry if I added fuel to the fire with the tourettes image KB, I was genuinely trying to make light of the guys obvious failed attempt at humour! :guilty:

As for the nasty pm's! just ignore those fools as they have nothing better to do with their time than harass genuine contributing members from the sidelines... had a few in my time also! don't let them get to you. Take a deep breath, hold your head high and know there are a lot more people on this forum who will appreciate your input versus the few who don't 👍 I hope you make the right decision and keep posting at GTP as I am one of the guys who does value your opinion and your input and would not like to see you leave the site for the sake of a few trolls who like to abuse the PM option on a whim

Cya around in future events hopefully 👍
Cheers
Ron.

You're still here....?

Had another go this morning, I think I have finally come across a gearbox I get on with. I have always struggled to get fast times when I have to use a short gearbox.

Managed a 135.3 so far but I am hoping for a little more to come off now I have a gearbox I am happy with :)

Thanks for the tune Joao (Usual Suspect)👍

I am not expecting to get any lower than a 135.2 though, as a short gearbox is the way to go for a fast lap time, just wish I could drive cars with those types of gearboxes

James (Twissy) , Mike, me and Kelvin, all together between 12º and 15º, is neat but we have to get that a bit higher on the leaderboard :sly:
