6-9 minutes? More like 9 to be honest.

I think it would add some good value to the race. It will feel more realistic, and for my own case, I would be more setup and ready for the race when then "green flag" waves :-)

My advice, go with it!

Oh I agree! Don't get me wrong, I'm with the idea of the formation lap, I was just questioning the speed as La Sarthe is a long course.

Is the race Friday or Saturday? I looked a the schedule and it says Saturday. Everyone is saying Friday. I'm confused

The races are always on Saturdays, but depending on your time zone it might be Friday night or Sunday morning for some.

All dates and times are listed in this doodle: http://www.doodle.com/zxs4b5z8797g8p7v

Select your location in the drop-down menu and all times and dates should be converted to your time zone.

And yep, I'll change the team name for you!

No chance of you coming on tonight?

Solid why are you always on here so late? (UK time)

I actually wouldn't consider this late lol. It's only quater to ten and I won't be going to bed till midnight. I like to keep check on this thread too :D

Yeah I have been on rather late at times. Sometimes after a day at work I am really tired and so I sleep for a bit but then I obviously can't sleep when I do go to bed and stay up till I can't stay awake lol.

A couple of weeks ago I stayed up till 6am the next day (which was a Saturday) lol. Was tired the whole day haha..

Nice haha. I stay up a maximum of 11:30 p.m. To midnight on weekends. Don't like that "wasted" feeling haha

R.I.P Jason Richards :(
He passed away last night from cancer at age 35. He was a much loved V8 supercar driver.

Sad to hear.

Anyone going to team up with me in the NSX-RM? I might be able to make this race. Also, what tires are allowed? Racing Hard or Mediums?

Racing Mediums. If you look on the 2nd post in this thread, there is a guy called joetruckv8 or something similar, he is looking for a team :)

Very sad indeed. R.I.P. A bad year for racing drivers including Marco Simonchelli :(

Should be able to make it tommorow. Probably will show up in the Prius, I really don't care anymore about how I do.

Actually, I think the Prius might be the best car for London. I ran some tests and here are the results:

Honda CR-Z - Best time 55.18x, average time 56.1ish
Toyota Prius - Best time 55.4xx, average time 55.7ish
Mazda Miata - Best time 57.1xx, average time 58.xish

So although the CR-Z is capable of producing the fastest lap (to be honest I also drove it the most, as it's the car I'm using in the series), it's kind of hard to stay on the edge with that car. A lot of times when I tried to push it I ended up in the wall.

The Prius was easier for me to drive, not quite as fast, but a lot easier to do mid 55 times than the CR-Z. And to be honest my Prius only had 195 bhp, so there's still an extra 12 bhp available...

The Mazda Miata, it's FR and it's probably gonna be nicer to the front tires than the Prius and the CR-Z, but I found it to be rather slow at London. Maybe it can be fixed with a good setup. The main advantage compared to the two other cars is that it doesn't understeer as easy, so there is less trouble trying to get it around the tight corners.

I hate the Prius. I can't get my Subaru to turn anywhere. Especially London! I'm trying to fix it

Not being negative, but theres gonna be a crash....a big one...on the first corner...it's inevitable

Looking forward to the race though...not feeling that i'll do too well though :/

I really don't care anymore about how I do.

Aww come on yoman no need to be like that :( it's all a bit of fun. You can change car for next season anyway :)

I'm hoping too! And Tom, join our site since it's the teams sponsor. I would like to register my friend Shane for b class on my team.

Its going to be crazy tomorrow. Fast and tight=crashing and bumping!
How are the judges gonna look at close contact + more!?

Good that you bring this up.

First of all, the judges will not look at anything unless it is reported as an incident. How to do that?

1. If you're involved in an incident, please remember what lap it occured at.
2. After the race has finished, PM me about it with the info above (so I don't have to go through all the laps when watching the replay).

Now, when it comes to shortcutting London is blessed with solid walls so basically those constitutes the edges of the track, meaning that there can be no shortcutting. That is good of course :)

When it comes to contact between cars, this applies:
- The car in front has the right of keeping his own tempo. Contact because of someone else was going slow / braking early is not okay, you should always have full attention on what's in front of you on the track. (However, going slow around track with the intention of being an obstacle is considered foul play and will be penalised).
- When two cars are side by side, the track is divided in two. Each car must make sure that the other side is big enough to fit the other car. This means adjusting speed and line through corners. If two cars are side by side you can't make an "out-in-out" maneuver for instance, because one of those lines are already taken. The driver who fails to respect that = the cause of the contact. Of course, both cars can be equally to blaim.
- The consequence of the contact will be important for the penalty. If it gives the causing car an unfair advantage, or the other car an unfair disadvantage, it is more serious than if it doesn't. Important: If you feel like you got an unfair advantage, you can wait for the other car and let it pass again to compensate for that and to show a manner of fair play.

Some key things to consider:
- Overtaking, don't be too hot. There are several laps in the race and if you really are faster than the car in front then there will be many opportunities to pass, so just wait for a good one.
- Plan your overtaking well in time and have a strategy. Think of what sections might be good for overtaking, and what sections might be bad.
- Lapped cars, give rooms for the cars that are lapping you. It doesn't have to be at the same moment as they catch up, if you are at an awkward spot on the track. But as soon as you can safely let them pass, do so.
- Lapping cars, don't hit the lapped cars... if you catch up on someone really fast it might be a good idea to hit the brakes. Wait for a good opportunity to pass and don't be stupid, it is your responsibility that the lapping is done in a safe manner.
- Defensive driving: Defending car has the right to pick his own line, and to change line ONCE on a straight. Turning left-right-left-right etc. to block the road is not allowed.
- Lag can happed, accidents can happen. Some sportsmanship goes a long way.

Anything I forgot to mention?

He is already registered, in his own team: http://touringteamseries.blogspot.com/p/sbsimtech-racing.html
Or is he supposed to be racing in your team?

EDIT: Just saw his e-mail, yes he is now on your team.

EDIT 2: Your team name has been updated now to ETDM.com Racing

The room is open now! It's in my private lounge. If you haven't added me on PSN yet, make sure you do!

Race starts in 1 hour and 20 minutes, the track is London and we're running 26+27 laps, so don't leave after the first heat!

And remember to be in the lounge 20 minutes before race start for regulations check!

See you soon :)
