Tuning Car Grand Prix

My first full championship report...

The car: 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (GD, Type-II), Premium Silver

The mods: Everything except new rims...

The specs: 524 horsepower, 495 lb-ft of torque

The tires: Racing Mediums

The enemy: NISMO Skyline GT-R R-Tune '99, Ruf BTR '86, Opera Performance S2000 '04, Mine's Lancer Evolution VI '00, Spoon S2000 '00

After fiddling with this car so much, let's see just what it can do...really.

Round 1: Apricot in Reverse (lap of fastness - 1'23.828)

This was never even a race. The only exciting thing that happened was when I slid off the twisty downhill section near the last turn towards the finish on lap one, and the BTR snatched the lead from me for about a second. Otherwise, this race was mine from the launch.

Round 2: Fuji Speedway...in the 90s (1'29.740)

I see a pattern beginning to emerge here. The Impreza has so much torque, it explodes out of corners (unlike the Supra, as you know.) Margin of victory was over 13 seconds. 185 MPH heading into turn one was exciting, though... XD

Round 3: Tokyo R246 (1'43.285)

There ARE other cars out here right? This is getting ridiculous.

Round 4: El Capitan...the wrong way (1'54.081)

That's more like it. Although it was only because I'd forgotten the track layout, this race was much closer, with the BTR and Opera S2000 leading me into the last lap. It was only about three turns before the finish that I reclaimed the lead, and won by just over a second. Sheesh.

Final Round: Tsukuba (00'55.596)

See, when I drive decently, I blow these guys away. I noticed how evenly tires wear on this car after all the modifications, too.

Sorry guys, I really thought this would be more interesting...

Moral: In the land of the tuning, the Impreza's torque is king.
