ATTENTION: New Divisional Lounges

• Division 1 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division1 lounge.

• Division 2 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division2 lounge.

• Divisions 3/A will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division3 lounge.

Reb, your division was racing in the Division 3 lounge.

Oh. I was told division A. When is are next race and in what cars?

You should get a PM the day of the event listing the rooms/divisions. It will also have a link to the riders meeting.

The next race is Trial Mountain with the Ferrari 458. Races are 10pm eastern time.

Go to page one of this thread and scroll down for the schedule. Also has the drivers list. You are currently in division 2.

Not sure of the results in Division 2. I got disconnected after only a few laps into race 1.

By the way, if anyone has any suggestions on how i might fix my connection problem, I'm all ears. I've done all the obvious solutions (reboot router and modem, reboot PS3 and clear cache in GT5). My connection is wireless, but my router is a Netgear R6300, and my signal strength is 100 percent.

Any of you techies out there (trust me, I'm not) who might have suggestions, it would be seriously appreciated.

Mike

I was having the same issue when I first began. I was on a 3mbps Internet plan, so I've upgraded that to a 12mbps plan and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I'm also on wireless router and 9 times out of 10, my wife is using her iPad to watch Netflix or YouTube while I'm racing.

Have you done a speed test of your Internet connection from the ps3?

What was the out come of division 2. Been dying to know since i knew the race was going to be a good one

Feeling better?

With the groups split we had a smaller turnout. We had 6 at the start.
Mbobb1969, fumanchu11, scarecrow937, shred-tech, flesxruoyxllik and myself.

Fumanchu had pole, led first 5 laps or so and disconnected leaving mbobb leading. Scarecrow spun one the first lap. For most of the race the order was mbobb, myself, scarecrow,shred-tech and flesxruoyxllik. Flesxruoyxllik dropped out at some point. After the pit stop scarecrow passed me, caught and passed mbobb, winning by about 0.4 seconds.

Second race was the four of us left. I got the hole shot and lead a few laps until scarecrow got by. Shred-tech was a little off my pace and mbobb stayed to keep him company. At the pit stop I was disconnected. So the race was won by scarecrow. Don't recall who got second, I think it was mbobb followed by shred-tech.

Hope fully we will see you next week. The Ferrari should be fun.

Hard wiring is always a better option but I know it's sometimes not possible.

Also get speedtest on your computer or phone/iPod and check your speeds at different times of the day. When Internet is working great and not so great. I struggled at peak times and my connection was super slow, then the Internet was boosted in these parts and its been very solid.

Speedtest will tell you what the problem is.

http://www.pingtest.net/

Pingtest will tell you the quality of your connection. A lower number and high grade are what you want. I always get a low figure under 40 and a B* for grade. NAT 2 as well. I try and remember to test it before a race.

Test from your PS3 not from a computer or phone. You can test from your location to anywhere. It's interesting to see how good the connection is from your home to a server close to the hosts not just the server closest to you.

Not to sound like a jerk but if someone has a bad connection, they shouldn't be racing online. Especially in a league race where guys practice all week then have to try and drive with cars lagging and zig zagging all over the track.

Had a great battle with martin_ky last night. It was going to be tough to pass him during the 2nd race because unless there was at least a second or so gap in speeds then a pass was near impossible without contact. So around lap 11 he caught up with the leader at the time and I dove into the pits. I used the clean air to gain around a 12 or so second gap.

But Martin made a great charge as he would have great tires for the last half of the race as i was doing around 70% of the race on the same set. I think he was able to get the gap down to around 7 seconds. He made a valient effort.

It was a great run, but hopefully we have more than 6 cars in the race next week. More cars the merrier!

1. Wired is first option that you need.

2. Run the speedtest.net a couple of times. Check with your ISP to make sure your getting close to the bandwidth your paying for. (ie, I have 10MB down, 1MB up, speedtest.net should get close to that number) If it's not anywhere close run the tests some more times at different times of the day.

3. Try to see what other devices are on your network. Ipads/Kindles/phones....If all possible try to limit how many devices are on the network when you are racing. SOmeone streaming video/downloading large file can cause problems sometimes.

4. GO HARDWIRED

5. How old is your router?

6. Are you cable internet or DSL(Phone company)

7. We can try setting up QOS(Quality of Service) to allow your ps3 to have the all the bandwidth it needs and the other devices have to split up the rest. Kind of a lengthy step process but I can do a write up.

8. If we do decide to do the QOS, we might as well set up port forwarding for your PS3 as well.

9. Is your wireless secured with a strong password?

If your on a wireless G connection you can make transfer data at 54 mbps (megabits per second) If you are hard wired to a normal 100mb port, you can transfer data at 100 mbps (100 megabits per second.) If you happen to have a gigabit router that number goes up to 1000 mbps, but I don't think the ps3 comes with a gigabit network adapter.

But just going from wireless to wired is the easiest, quickest step to seeing better results.

Very good race Choate51:tup: I was able to keep up with you for the first few laps of the first race, but after about lap 5 or so you seemed to gain about .3 seconds a lap on me(tire wear?) I've adjusted my break biasing based on the tip you gave us and am curious if that will help with wear. I had a great battle for about 8 laps or so with Drex in the second. If I couldn't get by him by lap 18 I was going to pit. I was able to pass him on a small error of his and he pitted on 18 just behind me. I pitted the following lap. After I pitted I came out with him again on my tail(I was literally telling my car to hurry up coming down the pit exit as I could see him in the S's:nervous:). I figured your tires would be worse than mine given how early you pitted and just pushed it the last stint. I think that this weeks race will be equally difficult to pass on, if the post race races were any indication. Thanks all for a great night of racing:tup:

Martin, with the sports tires they actually start coming into their own right around lap 4 or so. Between laps 4-9 seemed to be my fastest laps. The big thing with tire wear are the obvious things like not slidding the car and being careful not to spin the inside rear tires on the tight hairpins when accelerating. The brake bias is something I do for wanting to keep the front end at a certain spot since I trail brake like it's going out of business. It also helps slightly on tire wear. Another nice thing about the brake bias is when I catch traffic I can now bump it all the way up and gain several feet in braking to get the pass completed. I change my brake bias sometimes 2 or 3 times a lap depending on the corner.

Dude, you just blew my mind... Apparently I need to start adjusting my brake bias. :dunce:

Man i wanted to race so bad because i knew it was going to be a good one and was ready to go incase i could make it but 8 o clock run by and i was slunched over the couch sleeping. I will make this race though. Might be a little tight since im also trying to hit the North American Auto Show down in Detroit also but I'l probably be back before yall start if not at least for the second race :D

Hmmmm, would you be willing to share this tip?

I am guessing that you are using pedals.

BTW where in WI are you located? I am in Waterford.

Thanks to everyone who provided some ideas on how to solve my connection issues I'm experiencing lately.

It would seem hardwiring is the apparent solution since running the ping test, everything in my house other than my PS3 is pinging at about 30-35 (B), and the PS3 is at about 100.

Ok.

Are you using a wheel or ds3?

I'd assume your using a button box or 2nd controller to change the BB on the fly like that.

I use a DFGT and do change brake balance a few times a race, but not seemingly as much as you do.

I generally raise it 1/2 ticks as tire wear gets bad.

I guess I'm the only one that leaves a 5/5 split (even though I'm using a DFGT and can change on the fly) ... looks like I need to do some testing.

Either way, I had a blast for my first race and I'm happy about the win after a lap 1 spinout (cold tires!!). I had some superb battles climbing my way back and loved taking part in one of the cleanest races I've been in. I've never been able to go two-wide in the chicanes for that track without someone hitting me. I must have done 4 to 5 sets like that in-race (with not even a love tap). Either way...I'll definitely be back. Maybe not each race, but many. (Mbobb... I will keep talking to my friend about running. He's a ds3'r, but very fast and very clean...even in high horsepower ranges)

It feels official now...I'm a Turtle! (Please send me pretty blue and white paint for league cars...matte rocks too! Lol)

We had a good battle that first race. I enjoyed it, very fun when you can race side by side with other drivers and not even get a nudge. Talk to him and tell him how much fun we have. He will come around. Better yet show him the replay, that will get him going.
Send me a message on the PS3 with the paint colors and I will see what I have. Same goes for anyone else needing paints.đź‘Ť

He came over Sunday to take some laps on the wheel and seems interested. Friday night is when he's typically on, but I might be able to talk him into it. Maybe Flex series would work for him too...

We had previously just run stock races by ourselves every week. Noone joins public rooms restricting tuning and tires but us it seems, lol

This track was very hard for me to drive clean on. My fastest section was the hairpins. Unfortunately this caused my front to be glueded to cracker's quarter panels. But the least I could do is slow down and let him straighten his car out and make sure he could drive.

We could get him into the Flex series. That might be something you look into yourself. Its a very fun series. It is a little more challenging than the Enduro series though. You would be fine you are plenty fast enough.
Yea most people that race in open lobbies tune almost everything, which is'nt a bad thing. When you race stock cars though its a drivers race, not so much about the mechanic tuning the car.đź‘Ť

I ran some laps today in the 458... Let's start the bidding at 1:26.8xx! :D

It feels good to get behind the wheel again!
