TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX Racing Series - ACCEPTING MEMBERS!

Great races last night. Thanks to everyone who came out.

Watching the replay race 1 has me starting second. I thought I got pole with a 1:08.500? My replay shows ItsAllAboutWins on pole. You mist have snuck a faster lap in at the end of qualifying.

Yikes, that means you and Dolph Drago tied! When ItsAllAboutWins was on the track he was very fast. Thank goodness for me he was on the track most of the time and not all of the time.

Agreed. Very fun and clean races last night.

I saw that too. I went to the pits at the 1 minute warning, while 2nd in qualifying. Cut to the race itself, and I'm back in 3rd. What in the world happened in that minute?

Great win in the first race, Martin. 👍 I kept getting close to you, but never close enough to try and make a move around you. My mistake at lap 37 pretty much did me in. I think I was faster throughout the first half of the track, but the second half was the other way around. You would pull away from me in the chicane type thingamajigs.

I thought I was in for another 2nd in race 2, but I saw you put all 4 wheels off before the hairpin. I had done that myself earlier, but was able to slide around the corner instead of off track. I guess I got lucky. :dopey: I knew I would at least get to your bumper because you would have to take that hairpin slowly. But to my surprise, you ended up taking a trip to the beach. I also apologize to Psycho for the incident early in the 2nd race. I got wide coming off the final corner and couldn't make the tight lefty leading onto the front straightaway, sending me into the wall by the pits. Unfortunately, you plowed right into the back of me. I hope it didn't completely ruin the race for you. :guilty:

No worries at all Dolph Drago, those things happen. It could have been the other way around. Also if that hadn't happened I wouldn't have gotten to battle with RacingOtaku86 for most of the race. We made mistakes and took turns passing each other for at least 2/3 of the race. Woo Hoo, great fun!

Yes, very clean racing. Great job to everyone. When I got all 4 tires off in that second race I didn't have enough traction to stop before the hairpin. Ended up blowing a second or more lead. By the time I got back up to speed I was a little more than 3.5 seconds behind you. No way I could have made that up with only a few laps left. Just went into cruise mode and kept it on the track for 2nd. Great racing with you Dolph, and to everyone in race two. It was fun watching things unravel from the back in race 2.

When you called for the 1 minute warning I had just started a new lap, I basically set the pole time 5-10 seconds before you started the race, if I remember right. I know after it said you started the race, I parked it on the on the 2nd curve :D gotta watch me, I'm sneaky.

I never practiced the Mazda except for at about 1 o'clock and ran 8 laps with someone else in the lounge. I've never done fuel and tyre wear races before, but it was a blast!! I was surprised that I could keep up with you guys, I even lead a couple laps (only because I got the pole for the 2nd race after someone disconnected) I'm tickled to death that I even finished the 2nd race after a DNF on the first. All in all, it was a blast and I hope all my spin outs didn't mess anyone else up. Next time i hope i spend more time on the track instead of off it! Now i gotta go ice my ankles lol Good races all!

It's all good Wins! You will have to take into account tire wear when racing. In some cases every lap is different because of tire wear. Then of course there is pit strategy, you need to start thinking about that as well. Good times!

I found that out the hard way lol I was gaining ground on Otaku and yourself, then do the exact same line the next lap and spin out. It'll take some getting used to definitely. I forgot that I had done some fuel and tyre wear races on Forza 3 years ago, but it was 15-20 lap races with a mandatory 1 stop pit. Except on there, the tyre wear didn't effect you from one lap to the next as it does on GT5.

I've already gotten the BMW and Ferrari broken in for next weeks race, as well as the Golf for the Tyro series. I can only do one race this week (per wife's orders) and I'm not sure which one I want to have a go at. Suzuka is one of my favorite tracks, but I already know Autumn Ring and the Golfs will make for a very close race. Decisions, decisions.

Edit: Also could you change my number to match the Tyro series #13. I thought someone had it, but I just checked the list and it looks like its available

Race Recap

Flex's first HP limited race. The Mazda 787B on Autumn Ring, Wow! There was great racing in both races this week. The combination was fast and fun, but could bite you if you weren't careful. Race 1 had Martin and Dolph out front for the majority of the race. Dolph was never more than 2 seconds away from Martin, many times much closer. Dolph put down an extremely fast lap breaking the 1:07 barrier and the only one to do it all night. Psycho who got 3rd also kept himself in striking distance of the leaders waiting to capitalize on any mistake, but the leaders were very consistent in Race 1. RacingOtaku finished in 4th Place while Ph1sher had a few problems got 5th Place. GTP_tzracer had a few moments but was able to finish with a time in 6th Place. ItsAllAboutWins was very fast and started on Pole but a few spins and rally adventures caused him to end up in 7th place. Randy had a bit of a struggle but pushed on thru until the end.

Race 2 had ItsAllAboutWins and Ph1sher getting out to an early lead while a few incidents kept and generally good racing kept the rest of the field busy. Martin was able to keep himself(luck is more like it) out of the early lap drama and picked his way to 3rd place and had a good battle going with RacingOtaku for many laps. After a capitalizing on a mistake by RacingOtaku he again got lucky a couple laps later when the leader Ph1sher had the misfortune of spinning. Martin lead for most of the race as Dolph kept getting closer each lap. With less then 10 laps left Martin went off roading which gave Dolph the opportunity he was waiting for. Dolph ended up getting 1st in race 2 and 1st overall for having the faster lap between him and Martin. Psycho and RacingOtaku had a good battle going in race 2 finishing less than a second apart. Psycho-Tuber ended up in 3rd place again and in 3rd place overall. RacingOtaku also ended up in the same position as he did in race 1 and ended up getting 4th place overall. Ph1sher finished one spot better in race 2 which earned him 5th overall. ItsAllAboutWins ended up only 1 point behind Ph1sher in the final standings for getting an extra point for pole putting him in 6th place. GTP_tzracer had a better race the second time around and got 7th place overall. Randy got disconnected between races and wasn't able to make race 2. Thanks for coming out!

There was a lot of great racing and battles that is for sure. Great write up martin_ky! 👍

We will have FLEX practice tonight in Turtle Town at 9:30 PM Eastern. See you there!

Gonna be able to attend practice! And Phsyco, can I be the official photographer, to take picture pf the race and post them on the Turtle racing threads?

Anyone can take pictures, feel free to snap away 👍

Tried running the BMW with 0 abs. Yea, don't do that. If you manage to not lock your tires up, or go off the track in t1, you come into t2 to wide and lose to much time.

Btw, do we have to run BMW the first race and Ferrari the 2nd or can we start with either just as long as we use both cars?

It doesn't matter what order you run them in, your choice/strategie. Just as long as you run both 👍

Restart your modem and router. Restart your ps3, then clear your cache. See if that helps.

Thanks for this Wins. Applied your advice this morning and everything worked went ahead an ran a few laps in turtle town before work.Any advice on the ferrari oversteer problem I'm having from anyone would be much appreciated. Also when in the races with you guys all the cars look like their shaking jumping all around on the track. Is this normal? Or is there something I need to do to make the movement of the other cars more smooth.thanks.

When it's 1-2 cars that do that, they are lagging. When it's just about every car, it's you lagging. There are a couple of ways to fix this, first being, are you connecting your ps3 wirelessly or with the cord? If its wireless, you'll want to try your best to get a cord and hook it directly to the ps3 to your modem or router. If that's not an option and you can't "hardwire" your ps3, you may want to move your ps3 around a bit to get a better connection. You can check your wireless connection strength on the xmb. To do this, when you first turn on your ps3, scroll all the way to the left until you see the tab that has all the system settings. Scroll down until you see something that has to do with network. In there you should see something that says test network. Click it and it will tell you the strength. If you are hardwired, try disabling the wireless on your router/modem while you race.

I checked signal strength lastnight when I was having problems it said 77% strength. I will try hard wiring ps3 to modem but the route I would have to run Ethernet cable is probably 75ft.Is that to far for a strong signal? I hope not. I really enjoy racing with you guys. I want to get the most out of it.Thanks again.

It's more than likely your wireless then. See if you can move your router in different spots or your ps3 to see if it helps. My router is in the bedroom and my ps3 is in the basement on the complete opposite side of the house and I get a 92% signal. I have lag from time to time, and I can't race any online NASCAR races because it shows everyone sliding off the track then back on it. I was getting a low 80% strength and I moved the pa3 literally 3 inches and it went to 92. Remember not to have your modem/router or ps3 never to any other electronics, that can interfere with your wireless signal too.

that'll do it (cause lag). gt5 online racing and wireless are not a good combination. The data stream is not consistent enough and you will see cars all over the place. And what really happens is that other cars have yours jumping all around the track and you don't even realize it unless they tell you. It can easily ruin races.

Do your best to get a hardwired connection to your router if you plan to race with others online.

Yea but he said that would need 75ft of Ethernet cable. After so many feet, he would start losing stability anyway unless he put a booster in the line. Plus 75 ft of cat5 or 6 cable would get real pricey for a good one.

Honestly socket, you need to put them in the same room and hard wire them like Mic said, even if its just for the race, then move it back. Otherwise, you'll have to run a 75ft cable or see if you can get your signal strength to 85% or better on the wifi.

Guess he's bored.I'll run cable tonight if not above 85% I'll move modem.I want the most out of racing in TRL cause it sure is a lot of fun and I don't want to hamper anyone else's fun. Thanks for all the help gentlemen.Anything I can do for you guys please don't hesitate to ask.

If you have cable Internet, you can put your modem in the room with your ps3 and run a short cord that way. You don't need any special wires or outlets for a cable modem, it will work on any regular cable outlet. A good way to test the connection is to join a public lobby and race for a couple of laps to see if everyone is skipping around.

Let us know if you need any more help.

I'm in turtle town practicing Suzuka until I get ran off. If anyone wants to join me come on in
