Tyre Discussion, What tyres are ACTUALLY the most realistic?

The effect of fear is overrated i think. Anyone who thinks that pro race and test drivers aren't driving at the limit of the car because they are afraid has to be kidding themselves. While fear does play part it is minimal compared to the variation in driving conditions for example.

The main factor in deciding which type of tires would be chosen in real life and how do they perform is the track conditions and how the car uses them. Compared to that the GT5 tire selection doesn't bear much similarity to the real life and it seems to be more about a way to choose a difficulty level (that's why there is no significant difference in tire durability).

Yeah, I agreed with you completely.I don't mean only "fear" while talking about imagination. But trying not to destroy the car, and avoiding any form of damage completely. (mechanical, physical, tyre damage etc...)
And again - agreed about tyre durability! There is no much reason not to destroy them...
Maybe it's all about simulating many forms of damage at this point. If they were simulated the lap times may be more realistic I think.

I think that RatrakVFR is right, with C.S or C.M the car hadling fell right, I've try a gallardo on a day track once and it seems right with theses kind of tyres, if the car seems overpovered keep in mind that most of sportcars have electronics aids to keep you safe.

The only street car that came with semi slicks tyres is the lotus exige, all others are confort tyres.

Driving in confort tyre feel so mutch real, when you try some sport or race tyres after it feel like arcady.
