As stated in this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=134403 it seems that UCD cycles follow two separate ways.
In short one is called Master list #1, the other.... simply Master list #2. The list you are in is bounded to the PS3 hardware, for every account. As ML2 is more documented (and also I am in), this could be a statistic for barely half of GT5 users.
Sure there are other parameters to state if a car is rare or not: DLC cars are only available to buyers. Prize cars can only be won once. Users garages follow other rules, and trades can make a car rare or common aside of UCD.
For UCD hunters, this is as follows.
Why this stuff?
I quite often see new threads about which car could be considered rare. Also I was hunting for the very last one (the Vertigo) and its delay was growing.... So it started (By the way I have a complete garage now)
Here is a list of cars YOU MUST HAVE BEFORE DAY 2500:
Vertigo Race Car '04 (missing since day 2201 - waiting for 1486 days)
WoodOne Tom's Supra '03 (missing since day 2456)
Storm V12 Race Car '99 (last documented showup day 562!!!!!!!!) re-appeared day 3436
Castrol Tom's Supra #36 '01 (1755) re-appeared day 3299
Escort Rally Car '98 (day 1923) re-appeared day 3268
Takata Dome NSX #18 '03 (2011) re-appeared day 3613
CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car (2213) re-appeared day 3307
Tuscani CCS '03 (2321) re-appeared day 3380
W12 Nardo Concept '01 (2336) re-appeared around day 3700 (still have to update that data)
Atenza Touring Car #82 (2404) re-appeared day 3402
McLaren F1 GTR Race Car #42 '97 (2498)re-appeared day 3528
If you are over day 2500, in UCD master list 2, it's UNKNOWN when you can find these two cars.
Things you may want to know about UCD.
- UCD refreshes follow two separate schemes (called by us ML - Master Lists), tied on your PS3. This means that if you are in ML1 on your main account, you will start in ML1 on others too.
- As far as we know, the lists don't cycle. If they do, they don't in human times. This means that if you lose a car (in a specific paint) from a day refresh, most likely you will never see it again. Only way to have it (without ticket opening, OCD, trading or cheating), is creating another account and transfering from it.
- Every player starts from a random point in its list. This means there were players who submitted very early refreshes and we called these 'Day 1' of a Master List.
- The offset of the random start is usually about 0-50? game days. Never heard about a larger one. For example, MY day 1 was DAY 44 in the Master List #2. This means that I never had access to the cars in the first 43 refreshes of that list!
- You may check your specific GT5 game day before entering game, in XMB, some icons above the GT5 disc icon. Follow the PS3 game saves until the GT5 one, then read informations.
MASTER LIST AND CAR CHECK
METHOD#1 (easier)
This applies to players up to mid running time (before day 4000 in ML#2, and day 2000 in ML#1) as the site database has been updated in mid march.
- Go to gt5cars.net http://gt5cars.net/used_car_searches/new
- Follow instructions and submit. If you're lucky you will have results
METHOD#2 (medium)
Recommended for players up to day 1500-3800.
- Check your UCD and game day
- Open the UCD lists linked in TornadoAlley signature (also linked here)
- Make a search in the list to what you think is the rarest car in your UCD
- Once you have a search result, look at if your game day matches the car's day in the list. If they aren't similar, move on the next result. If you have no results with a list, check the other one.
- When you find a result, and your game day is similar to the one of the listed car, look at other cars in the neighbor days. If all cars match, congratulations! You have found the correct ML and also know in which (general) game day you are. Of course, your offset is [ML GAME DAY]-[YOUR GAME DAY]. This will also apply to newer accounts created in your PS3. obsolete as gt5cars.net is updated
METHOD#3 (longest)
Recommended for players beyond day 2000-4000.
-If you are up to day 4000, follow method#2. If you don't find results, you are in the gaps of ML#1 or beyond day 4000 in ML#2.
- Start a new user account from XMB. You don't need a new PSN account to do this, unless you plan to use it to transfer cars. Just if you aren't used to, this will start a new game for a new user, and doesn't affect at all your old account.
- Start GT5 in the new account. After accepting all the goods, go to UCD and start with METHOD#2 again. You will find your offset and correct ML.
