Altetico were fantastic though, 2 minutes away from winning the trophy...Real's quality just took over and Ancelotti made great substitutions

Cristiano Ronaldo is literally worse than John Terry.

You would swear he won the cup single handedly.

Absolute tripe in that game. Very pleased to see Casillas lifting the trophy though. Would make a wonderful swansong.

I'm delighted for Bale, he was crap up until the goal but to see a Welshman lift the trophy is great....that's why he left Spurs!

The more I see Bale's goal, especially the angle from high inside the goal, the more I think it is a superb header. From that position, with the ball at that angle, speed and spin; as close to the top corner of the post as you'd like.

Spain now have the World Cup, The European Championship, The Europa League and now the European Cup....World Domination!!

^ Well, they were all that already before this game, anyway. ;)

And they won the last two Euro Championships!

That was very enjoyable to watch. Well done to Real for getting La Decima as well!

Looked like a fun night...

La Décima is here. It took them ages and tons of cash, but now they have it. Congrats to Real Madrid! 👍

The result isn't a fair reflection of the game - Atletico were so close they could almost taste it, but sadly for them it wasn't to be. Still, it was a great spectacle, and kudos to Real for not giving up. You could tell that Atletico were hanging on for grim life and when Real equalised, the cup was effectively theirs - the extra time demolition job just confirmed it. I agree with @Liquid, Bale's header looked quite ordinary at first glance, but it was anything but really. In some ways he's quite lucky he got (and took) that chance, as he had missed at least three good chances earlier. On balance, I think the better side won, as Atletico were riding their luck at times, and even their goal was a bit scrappy/lucky. At least Atletico won the league, so their season was a great success despite not lifting the Champions League trophy!

I knew Athletico's decision to play Costa would err.. costa them the trophy. Early sub gave them fewer fresh legs in ET.

No surprise to hear that UEFA have charged Simeone with THAT confrontation and Xabi Alonso has been charged with excessive celebration at Full Time, he was suspended for the match and I honestly don't remember him celebrating too much...

He jumped out of the box when they're all sat and sprinted down the touch line to celebrate like Mourinho.

I was trying to figure out what Varane did to deserve a yelling from Simeone? That I never understood. Although, I was watching the game in Italian, and I know absolutely no Italian.

David Villa will leave Atletico for New York, and will play ten games for the Melbourne Heart.

I wonder how they convinced him to do that. They might have a tie-up with Manchester City, but the Heart are the worst team in the A-League.

Con dinero baila el perro...

Villa is the finest example of a football mercenary right now... And it's sad, because he is not that old, and he could just sign with any other spanish team...

New York FC seems like a pretty genuine effort. The only reason why he's going to Melbourne City is because the Australian summer means he can get matches in beforethe MLS season starts. City might have sucked when they were the Heart, but they have gone a long way towards revitalising themselves. It's no accident that they're now called Melbourne City - Manchester City invested in them in a joint deal with the Melbourne Storm NRL club.

Honestly, the best they can hope for is a top six berth, or maybe top four or five spot if the likes of the Roar or the Mariners or Sydney FC struggle.

Well, Celtic made the first step toward CL football this year, a domineering 5-0 win in the first round. One down, 2 to go. :D

Guess I won't be posting about Celtic in this thread. Awful performance, au revoir CL. :(
