I agree with him, and Terry Venables at half time, most of the lads at work agreed too, the goal should have stood and Lehman should have stayed on. The ref made a bad call imo. Like was said after the match, if the ref say's he stood to the letter of the law, that law stinks. It's the ref's choice what to do in that situation and taking 1 man off so early spoilt the game for most people.
I don't get how the law stinks. If you are the last man (goalkeeper) or last defender and you bring down a player illegally it is an automatic sending off. That's exactly what lehmann did, the only difference was that Eto'o was also present to tidy things up.

There's only two courses of action the referee should have taken. BOTH of them require that he played the advantage, which he failed to do, so he didn't follow the law. After that point the discipline can be dealt with - and since it wasn't denying a goal-scoring opportunity (because a goal was scored) it shouldn't have been a sending-off.

It must suck for Belletti scoring the winning goal on a great final like this yet he's not going to the World Cup.

Dropout.
atrocious reffing all-round, null the result and play again!
If we were going to do that every time the refferees screwed up a game half of the 2002 World Cup matches would have to be played again.

This was definitely the game for the average american to watch. If they're familiar with last season's super bowl, it would've been an easy transition.

This is incredibly wrong.

The match all you guys should have watched was this years FA cup final, in terms of exitement it made the Champs league final look like, err a realy dull match.

Now if you said last seasons champions league final I would have agreed with you.

Oh wasn't it, the FA final was too the wire, extra time then West Ham screwed kit on penalties. Every final should be like that, that's top entertainment.

Exactly, 91 minutes into the game West Ham think they have pretty much won the FA cup and then BAM Gerrard scores a blinder after looking like being injured for about 10 minutes.

I'm not a liverpool fan but man that was an awesome match.

I was making a joke about the crap reffing done in both this final and the last superbowl.

Sorry about that english, by the way. I forgot to omit "so" when I changed the sentence.

liverpool 2-1 maccabi haifa!
bellamy and gonzalez! what a dream debut for both of them!

Congrats to Arsenal for the win and Cesc for double-scoring fun.

Liverpool won thier round on aggregate, it was a 1-1 draw today, but 3-2 on agg.

WE'RE IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE !!!!!

First time ever our team qualified for CL ......

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FC KØBENHAVN !

Congratulations to them then, Arsenal are through as well, winning 5-1 on aggregate.

Chelsea won 2 - 0 against Werder Bremen, meanwhile Liverpool got an imaginative 0 - draw against PSV Eindhoven.

But if we can play crap and win well thats a good sign.
Absolutely, that was Man U's failing last year, we couldn't scrape the wins in many of the lower paced games, already this season we've scraped a win from a scrappy game which is a very good sign for us.

Joe Cole is fit now though which is a plus.
I never used to rate Cole that much, I always thought he held onto the ball far too much and would often not pass for some great moves because he wanted the ball, but since he's been at Chelsea he's come along really well. It changed my opinion of him anyway.

Quick note about Barcelona.

I believe tonight was their first ever match with a shirt sponsor. And, out of sheer oddness, and having turned down offers of £30 million a season from shirt sponsors, their sponsor is UNICEF.

And Barcelona are paying UNICEF £1.5 million a season to use their logo.

Funny clipping from the BBC Sport website this morning - sums him up completely I think.... an expression of joy unbridled... :P

Looking forward to Man U v Celtic tonight, should be a good match - although on current form, you'd be silly to bet against a Man U win.

An entertaining game with the Man U v Celtic match, Celtic scored first then wen't down to 2-1 athen Celtic equalised right before half time, only for the one and only Ole Gunner to score right at the start of the second half for Man U to take a 3-2 win, we've already scored as many goals as we did in last years Champions league . It was a much closer game than I expected, though Celtic we're playing above themselves, they we're making mistakes because they couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. The better side won. Arsenal scored 2-0, Van Persie deserves to be banned for that dive he took and the keeper that got red carded for it needs his card recinded. I think it's shocking when a player will dive like that, and it's clear as day on camera that he dived. I'd have no sypathy if he got a lenthy ban, he won't get one, but I'd have no sypathy if he did.

I think Celtic were unlucky - they definitely deserved a point in my (slightly biased) opinion, but anybody has to play damn well to get a point out of Man U at Old Trafford..., especially in the Champions League. I think Celtic have a good chance of a result at Celtic Park, but realistically if Man U maintain their current form, a point may be all that they can expect.

I don't think they deserved a point, I think they played their hearts out, but they were clearly not the better team. The game at Celtic park will be interesting, the pitch there isn't as fast so that will slow some of the moves down and that will benefit Celtic, I do think that the odds are better on us winning there as well though. The thing with Celtic's perfromance yesterday, Gordon Strachan kept saying, if only we taken this chance or not done that ect, well yeah okay, but what if Man U took all their chances and didn't make any of thier mistakes, Ole could have scored two, Rooney two, Saha four or five ect. Celtic came at us, but other than the stupid mistake we made when they scored that suprise first goal they were always playing at a pace that they couldn't control the game at.
