Ugly But Appealing Vehicles

That's a good point. And probably the exact reason why nobody posted it so far.

However, it's a good example of true ugly. If someone can find something on that level of ugliness but with some appeal, then they'd be onto something...

The MultiPla is already in the thread. :D

I like this one (not because it's a Ford)

Sure.

Those things were awesome.

Austin-Healey Sprite

Yes. I do believe that the Frogeye is catastropically ugly, and is a precursor to the Mazda smile. But I think it is brilliant and want one.

Reminds him of his childhood.

Ah, the days when watches were digital and telephones were analogue. How the times change...

Nothing ages faster than a digital dash.

Except maybe chrome hubcaps.

True, but don't forget, the next generation is also going digital. Not sure if I'm looking forward to touch screen center consoles like the Tesla Model S and McLaren MP4-12C...

Toyota Corona is appealing. :D

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. :D

Call me a luddite, but analogue gauges, please. Everywhere.

And I mean... EVERYWHERE.

Though I've never got to drive, sit, or even look at the engine, the Toyota Echo is one of my favorite cars. It reminds me of a '90s Prius, but with a tad bit more power, louder, and lower MPH. Still, seeing these things putt around makes me happy - they're cute! :embarrassed:

Since nobody yet posted a neo-classic, the ultimate in cheese, bad taste and overall vulgarity, yet somehow a few have an odd, perhaps pervert, appeal for me.
Even though I wouldn't want to be seen driving them, I would like to drive them.

And then there's something like the Zimmer Quicksilver which I think actually looks a lot better than the Pontiac Fiero it's based on, even though I wouldn't call it pretty.

^ This thread is rapidly jumping the shark at the very idea of the Zimmer Quicksilver with the word "appealing".

I think the idea was "ugly/homely but effective" automobiles.

I've kinda talked myself out of posting this for a while because it could get a... reaction. But in my honest opinion, this is painfully ugly...

But of course, appealing for obvious reasons.

In my opinion it's not ugly but it's not pretty but I do agree with you partly.

Garishly awesome 1959 Dodge:

That thing gives me nightmares, it looks like a cross between an evil Batmobile and Plymouth fury.

Still not as scary as hell machine from the 1977 film "The Car"... Awesome film i shouldn't have seen as a child.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team!

I thought of another car I used to love when I was a kid. It's kind of an oddball, and not really ugly per se, but not something you'd normally fall in love with.

Gentlemen, I present to you, the Renault Fuego. Used to walk past a brown one pretty much like the one in the last picture everyday while walking to grade school, circa 1988. I remember not really knowing what it was, but I liked the shape of it quite a lot. And would you look at those wheels!

Also, my aunt had one of these, with the "sportbak". Probably one of the 3 persons worldwide that actually bought one equipped as such...

I've also owned one of these for a very short while some 10+ years ago, the NX2000. It was fairly fun to drive, SR20DE and all, a bit like a B13 Sentra SE-R, but with an ugly egg shaped body instead. Not a looker by any means.
