I admit it, I like Neons. I can't think of a reason why, but I do. I guess they have character.

Also the Riviera. Hmm, not really ugly, but it looks good from some angles and awkward from others. But I like it.

Ford Escort RS2000 (Mark VI)

The VI was awful, frog looking much like the Scorpio, but in RS2000 trim there's some sort of appeal. Super Barry, too.

Austin Montego

Saw many of these growing up. Rich in square, Austin-Rover goodness.

I don't really find either of those ugly. The Mk VI was quite inoffensive really, and better looking than the previous few generations that followed it. Not even slightly as bad as the Scorpio either.

A nice, standard RS2000 is quite a nice-looking hot hatch I reckon. Was just modified enough over the standard car to stand out, which is more than could be said for many hot hatches of that era.

As for the Montego, it's just a bit dull. MG one was okay, I guess:

@ Toro - as for the Riviera, for me the appeal is the lack of superfluous detail. Absolutely zero unnecessary details on it, unlike many modern cars. Does look a bit like a car made by one of those guys who makes balloon animals, but it's not too offensive to the eyes.

The Escort was reasonable handsome, but for me that was in hot hatch versions only. The standard car was too Scorpio-eyed at the front.

Montego is horribly square, but there's just something about it I like.

And the Volvo 360. Much, much older, granted, but it's not a patch on the 440 or 850 for looks.

Forgot that one. Love the doors. :D

Just once I want to hear of a Civic with "Z1 doors". Ah...wait, no I don't.

(How much would have Bo and Luke given for that option on their Charger?)

Oi, Volvo 300-series has transaxle in the back, just like Porsche 944, giving it good weight distribution and all that.. and on top, it can easily take more powerful motors from the bigger 740 GLTs

That DAF reminds me a bit of this:

Skoda 110r coupe.

Years ago some guy by my school used to own one, the kids at the school used to take the piss out his car... (Skoda/Lada seemed to be a British joke at the time), though iv'e always loved them, cracking design (imo).

[EDIT] on second thoughts, the DAF reminds me more of the Hillman Imp, another car i quite like.

I quite like the NSU 1000 TT, also reminds me of the DAF.

The Rumpler Tropfenwagen. A car that is quasimodian by most accounts but which I find incredibly fascinating.

Aliens!

But characterful aliens.

Actually that's a great flattering shot of the Multipla and which reminded me that I initially really liked this car when it was just released, thought it was original, daring and looked a bit like a concept car.
But it hasn't aged well I guess (although if they all had those sort of colours/wheels it might not be as bad).

The original Multipla wasn't a looker either (basically a 600 with a completely redesigned front section) but it now looks cute, so there's hope (just give it 40-odd years).

Not sure if this is the best compact car I've seen in a while, or the ugliest.

By the way, cut back on the Nuka Cola. ;)

A bit ugly to me, if looking from the side or rear, but cute from the front.

I can't stop hunting Nuka Cola, they are great companion when I'm hunting for Muties. I still play Fallout 3 GOTY, it never gets old.
