Uhm, why did Polyphony not release a new trailer?

Them removing the fact that they were called different things because of how different they were doesn't mean that they won't still be different.

They basically said there are no standard cars and premium cars anymore. Except, cockpit view won't be there for all cars.

As Tornado said, they are removing the "label" standard from the game, that doesn't mean all cars will be premium quality or that they'll have cockpits as you mentioned.

Where did you read this?

Hey, I want to drive the RUF RGT as a premium more than anyone, but I'll put money on it not happening by December 6th.

Woah guys take it easy on the poor guy. I think what gtracedriver1 meant was there will still be standard cars in the game, but PD is improving there "appearences" but not up-to-premium-quality, just smoothing there mashes and edges to look better.

Kaz also said the standard cars won't be having cockpit view in game. There still there but both it and premiums won't be labeled as "standard/premium" in the garage and will all be in one garage. You'll get to use all of them in photo travel so theres no difference to keep standard cars out of it anymore.

"No functional differences", well I don't know what that is. :P

But where did you read this? If I missed something big, let me know where to find it?

GTP: Will there be “Standard Cars” in GT6?

We won’t be making all the Standard cars from GT5 into Premium models, and we won’t make all of the GT5′s Standard cars fully “Premiumized”.

Up until now, we used to categorize them as Standard and Premium because there were functional differences between them: some of the Standard models might not have tuning parts, or couldn’t be used in Photo Mode. That will all be cleared so every model can be used in Photo Mode, and every car can have parts fitted for it.

In terms of graphics quality, the bad quality Standard models we’ve updated so they look better.

GTP: Will all of the cars have interior views?

No.

(Editor’s note: This apparently does not apply to all of the cars which were listed as “Standard” in GT5. For example, two cars which were prominently featured in the GT6 trailer and its first official batch of screenshots, the Lamborghini Countach LP400 and Alpine A110 1600S, both appeared as Standard cars in GT5 but have apparently been converted to “full” Premium models – with interiors – in GT6.)

You are haven't been keeping up to date on GT6, or you knowingly posted false information in your post (which, by the way, is against the AUP). While we can be sure that they won't feature a livery editor as complex as the one in Forza, we do not yet know whether we'dd be able to do some sort of livery customization.

You have nothing to support your arguement about the AI, as Kaz has specifically said that it won't be the same. While none of us can say whether or not the AI will truely be improved, we sure as hell don't know if it won't.

Game will feature at least 1400 cars, at least 400 of which will be premium. Probably more. NASCAR's aren't duplicates, and we have no way of knwoing if they're counting the anniversary cars in their total car count. It's worth noting that 1400 is not an exact number, just like 1200 wasn't back when GT5 was released.

We have no way of knowing how many standards will be converted, and it means literally nothing that they haven't shown that many yet. They have no reason what so ever to show you everything before release.

We don't know why they didn't show up at TGS like they said they would. It could be because Kaz was busy promoting himself and his documentary, or It could simply be a change in plan. Saying it is because they have nothing to show is rubbish.

I don't want to argue (it would be senseless) but:

About A.I. what said KAZ and what really is you could try in GT Academy demo or in many stage demos during the events.

Total number of cars will amount to 1200 at the date of release as official page says.

Surely they will easily boost the total number of cars by counting anniversary cars, duplicates (standard and premium Jag from GT5), RM cars and etc.

GT5 has lots of standards deserving convertion into premiums. If they upgraded at least 100 cars they could already show about 20-30 in order to heighten the hype (for example premium Veyron, Supra, GTO, Xj220 and many others).

The answer is simple. They don't show it beacuse they propably converted only fews. Maybe they will upgrade all standards a bit but unless they all have fully detailed interiors it doesn't really matter.

If we're being absolutely clear, they haven't committed to improving the quality of all the standard cars either, only the bad quality ones. That could be 7 or 700, depending on what they consider "bad quality".

Gahhh! Don't say that, gets me worried it's only those ones. I really hope not. :scared:

But who knows, you might be right Imari. :nervous:

No it wasn't. GT5 was "over 1000", GT6 was "1200" then "over 1200".

Ups. My bad :guilty:. Accidently added 200 to both numbers. Simply take away 200 from both numbers, and my post is left as is. So what I meants was that GT5 would be at around 1050 currently. With the car list exceeding the advitised 1000 cars at launch. GT6 will possibly exceed 1200 as well, and as we can expect all new cars to be featured to be premium, we should get well over 400. Also like to point out that we don't know yet for a fact if they'll keep the standard models after making standards premium. I realise that cars like the Jaguar Group C car is shown twice (both standard and premium version), but this doesn't necessarily mean we'll get both. Not the first time the "numbers" have been off. Just look at the track/layout numbers, which don't add up.

That we haven't seen the AI at work yet doesn't mean that it won't be improved. We haven't heard the "new" sound samples that PD are working on either, but that doesn't mean that they aren't working on it. We haven't seen any races with more than 8 cars yet either, yet we know the game will support up to 16 cars on track. PD's marketing might be odd, but there is no arguement to support your statement that the AI will remain the same. They could just as well have decided not to show it before it's done. Once gain, placeholders are very common, and that goes for every single franchise out there.

Just because it would be easy to bloat the car numbers by counting stuff like anniversary editions into the overall count, does not mean they will. And why would they show all the cars they're making? Have you ever played a game where you knew everything it contained? What fun is that?

Besides, PD should surely be focused on showing more important things from now on, like how the actual game design has been improved.

I'm hoping it's because they're spending all their time & resources making GT6 instead (just like they should be). :sly:

There is no argument to think that A.I. will change/ be improved significantly. Kaz may promise many things but the outcome in the end is different, we all know that. If there were any major differences with A.I. we should have already seen them in Academy demo or in other stage demos. Especially with 8 cars on the track because I think it is easier to show and notice.

"Just because it would be easy to bloat the car numbers by counting stuff like anniversary editions into the overall count, does not mean they will."

They just did it in GT5, they put tens of superfluous Skylines, S2000 and MX5 only in order to break the barrier of 1000 cars in one game.

"And why would they show all the cars they're making?Have you ever played a game where you knew everything it contained? What fun is that?"

1200 cars are supposed to be included in GT6 (700 standards from GT5 are waiting to be upgraged). So they don't have to show all cars, 200 would be enough. But they showed about 80 cars and 7 premiums (converted).

And TGS was a perfect opportunity to show premium Supra, GTO, FTO and other Japanese cars if they were upgraded.

They didn't release a new trailer, because the plan was to present the course maker at TGS (according to Kaz being asked about the course creator at gamescom and E3 and Kaz saying they have to save something for TGS). In the meantime we know that they don't know yet, if they will be able to finish the course creator for day one, so they obviously can't present something not knowing, if it will be ready for release. The plan just kind of fell apart due to development delays. Since they need some kind of additional hype before release, we'll see some announcement though sometime soon.

That's the best guess I know of.

I know. I hope they've done all of them. How hard could it have been to assign one person to spend a day knocking the rough edges off all the standard cars? But we'll see eventually, probably at release. Somehow I can't see them showing us standard cars before release this time.

I know right? It's almost like their saying we should buy the game just to see them in person. I'm hoping they look good, at least at the edges of there bodies especially the ugly ones. :)

Guess they're scared of the stampede of angry GT fans when it turns out they don't look good at all :)

Basically, yeah, although strictly speaking it's just intelligent marketing. They took a lot of crap during the release of GT5 once they revealed what the standard cars were really going to be, and that continued even after release.

I don't really expect the general reaction to be much different this time. It's not any better in 2013 than it was in 2010. But given that those cars are what's in the game, the smart move is to minimise the negative press they cause. Keep talking up the 1200+ cars and positive aspects of having that many vehicles, but keep attention away from the graphical aspects of them by simply not providing any visual data.

I consider it highly unlikely there will be significant differences to a significant amount of cars. I expect them to have fixed the real howlers, the ones that made you go "is this really on PS3?", although they fixed a lot of the truly awful ones through patches to GT5.

That's quite the smart strategy. For me the problem with standards will be mostly solved by them being almost similar in function compared to premiums. Don't have time to look at dem fenders when blasting over the ring with 300+ kilometers an hour.
