I'm not buying the fact that he only has a 15K car that even James May would be bored of. He is obviously a pro and likely has a car given to him by sponsors, you only need to watch the way he hunted down the DTM driver in the German Special last series. <---- Now that was impressive. Very impressive.

You have to take it with a pinch of salt.

He could well drive a £15,000 car. There's nothing to say he doesn't - Jeremy has a Y reg Ford Focus, ffs, but he's also got a CLK Black. Again, May has a Panda, but he's also got a Boxster too. 'Drive' doesn't necessarily mean he uses it every day (although May probably does...). It's like saying "When I'm at home, I do the ironing" and turning that into a headline. Well, yeah, I do iron stuff every now and again, but it's not exactly a hobby of mine is it?

The photo is clearly just a chop to get everyone pouring over racing driver faces to work out who it is. It looks like Ben Collins to me, but who knows. They haven't said it's an actual photo, it's just to give a little hint as to who they've decided it is. Similarly, they've included a asterisked-out name in the article that didn't fit with 'Ben Collins', so of course every mechanic from Dover to Doncaster has worked out that it's Mika Hakkinen.

NOTW haven't discovered anything. They're just rehashing a load of old rumours to generate a bit of interest. The information could be true, could be completely false, who knows. Maybe they're hoping that Stiggy will jump out of the undergrowth and shout "Shut up! I don't drive a Mondeo!" and they'll magically have their man. Corr, that's a plan only the likes of primary school children could possibly think up.

Stig unmasked
And no spoiler alert, since they don't reveal its name
The Telegraph claim differently:
They list the Stig as being stuntman and Le Mans driver Ben Collins.
Bit wrong of them to just spoil it for everyone. If this is true, the producers will no doubt have to come up with a new Stig for the next season. Honestly, there should be a D-Notice on the identity of the Stig; if the Australians can put one on the location of the Petrovs and leave it in place fifty years after the Petrov Affair, Her Majesty's Government can bloody well put one on a state secret like the identity of the Stig.

To be honest, no-one cares. I'd prefer to know the Stig as the Stig rather than anyone else. I can't see TopGear admitting it to being him either, if it is they get rid of him and replace him and just not tell anyone. Atleast, thats what I would do.

Does anyone actually care? Okay, it's cool having the Stig as some kind of alter-ego, but it's not that important, is it? Though if it's in his contract...

If it's true, I didn't realise that it was that Ben Collins - the guy who doubles for Daniel Craig in the Bond films -which makes it funnier for me because I first got this news from a James Bond forum.

Just curious... will he now get sacked for having his identity revealed? MSN News seems to think so..

Robin.

Top Gear USA Completely Canned

Clarkson says we Americans "don't get it." I'm not surprised, but I'm disappointed. Kinda makes me wish that the episode or two that were made gets distributed somehow, but I fear that won't happen.

...Back to Finalgear and BBC America for our stuff...

Whew, we dodged a bullet there. Keep Top Gear to the British only.

Is there a place to watc the new episodes without having ro download them? Like a good you tube channel or some other site.

Wohoo a day before I come back from holiday! I will watch it on BBC Iplayer

Lucky you
Im away to France the day before that and then Im away to Australia for three weeks on the 4th of July...
Some people may think that that sounds awesome but, I'll miss my beloved Top Gear :nervous:
I shall have to record it

Erm... Search?

Now there's gratitude for you!

FYI I did a search and found 76 pages of threads mainly about things such as Top Gear Test track in GT5 etc.

I did look at the TV section to see if I could find a thread beginning with the word Top and ending in the word Gear but unfortunatley missed the one with "Unofficial" at the start of the title. But then the last post before mine was 3 months ago so I guess it must have fallen down a few pages.

My apologies for providing information for members of this forum and posting it up for others to see.

There's no pleasing some people

I thought I was being helpful, alas your post was not

Well you helped me, thanks for letting us know. 👍

Agreed.

The news cheered me up immensely. Even now, I still can't get enough of Top gear. I don't really watch much else on TV these days.

Was wondering, who owns the rights to Top Gear Australia?

Because I was thinking it would be great to have BBC show the series here, like buy the rights or something. Every other country gets UK Top Gear in one form or another so can it not work the other way?

More Top Gear is better than less! :sly: Could have a UK/AUS double bill every week!!
