Chris Harris and Sabine being rumored to be co hosts along side Evans. I love them both but Chris in partiuclar doing top gear does not work for me, unless they go all hardcore automotive show but then that might be un wise for the casual top gear fan, of course the casual top gear fan one could argue is already lost.

I thought that rumor was shot down months ago?

The confirmed lineup...... Chris Evans, Chris Harris, David Coulthard & Sabine Schmitz.

BBC you make the baby Jesus cry!

That's actually way better than expected. If they do it right, it could turn out pretty well. They should probably start out with some more serious bits.

I wouldn't entirely rule out the line-up, but I don't think any of the articles even attempted to bother citing a source. I know myself that Coulthard is in at least one episode, but those articles aren't really stating any facts other than what is know about potential presenters, or words from people that have turned down the role.

Is Evans that well into cars though? seems the rest of the (rumored)hosts are more "hardcore" than him. And I haven't even mentioned the driving

A person who spends an obscene amount of money doesn't actually mean they are into cars but more of a status symbol. For example, Justin Bieber. ;)
Well it's not any expensive cars though. 250GT is different than all the exotics cars you see being driven by celebrities.

The presenters being into cars isn't the issue at hand here, what is more concerning is the fact that they are a little bit boring....

Can't see who else they could have got through...
Agreed. Seems they might be trying to make Top Gear into a show about cars again...won't go down very well with the majority of the audience which watch it for the comedy.

If Evans wants to try and replicate New Old Top Gear, then it would be a rubbish line-up, but I'm not sure this is what he plans to do. When other motoring programs try and do things 'Top Gear' Style, it gets tedious faster than Hammonds dialogue delivery. Also, Amazon Top Gear will be on TV too, if they try and go head to head with the same format and style, they will loose.

If this is the case then I think they are quite 'interesting', even if they are not particularly charismatic presenters.

But Hamster's co-host were May and Clarkson, Harris and Sabine are a different league.

Who knew Hammond and May before they were on new TG? Not many, I'd imagine. May had been on old Top Gear and did the magazines, Hammond was on local radio.

I would have preferred if the BBC had hired equally unknown people this time, at least then people wouldn't have a preformed opinion on them.

Well if they have got Harris only die hard petrolheads will have heard of him, the people who just watch for the entertainment and have a passing interest in cars won't. As for Sabine, only those who watched the older episodes with her in will likely know her.

Evans is known of course but I think you do need at least one known face, as was the case with Jezza.

The problem for me is if they keep the 3 car challenge format they'll have to dumb down Chris and Sabine a bit, no use seeing Chris drifting around with a Ferrari describing little details about Chassis stifness and then cut to Evans saying anything really. Plus right now all previous 3 top gear hosts are better car reviewers.

I'm certainly sceptical myself but I'm going to give it a chance and see how it runs, whoever the presenters do end up being. It could be good and just what the show needed,it could be ruddy awful. At least we know we'll have the classic show with a new name to fall back on whenever that launches.

Got some TG related presents yesterday, two books, one is Clarkson's latest which he releases every year and one by the script-writer on the show for the last 12 years Richard Porter called 'And That Bombshell', which is a behind the scenes book and the Top Gear Greatest Hits DVD, which I started watching last night...

Also that A-Z of Top Gear show is on tonight, 8pm BBC2...
