Best episode yet definitely.

Both Harris and Reid were excellent with their car reviews, the Ken Block segment was as cool as you'd expect it to be and the Evans-ing was kept to a minimum.

I feel like Reid, LeBlanc and Harris would be the best and most interesting dynamic if they were to keep it to three presenters in the future, with Sabine on occasions perhaps.

Cracking episode tonight, although thay may be partly because it feels like I've done this week's episode already...
For example, here is me at Laguna Seca in 2001: :sly:

And then there was the Hoonigan which i saw at Festival of Speed last year... (wonder if it will be back in 2016) :sly:

I can't compete with that TDF Ferrari though

Best episode so far, definitely. It helps that it had the least amount of Chris Evans in it. Cars were all fantastic, non-stop action from beginning to end 👍 Hoonicorn segment was a bit pointless, IMO. Would've liked to see the AMG GT-S reviewed properly in the main show and not just in Extra Gear. Speaking of which, I spotted a LaFerrari in the studio in Extra Gear

BTW, here's the clip of Chris Harris in an F1 car (spin happens near the end):

Caught up on this episode and here's the bottom line..

IF they can produce episodes like that with some half decent consistency, they'll have no problems surviving this and subsequent seasons. :D

Yes, you'll still have the people saying its junk and all that petty BS that follows, but if it can convince me, someone who was very skeptical about it all and after all the issues they had getting to this point, it's got a future on TV. 👍

To quote a song, "got to admit it's getting better"...very entertaining episode, a little difficult to fathom how the series is somehow improving with each episode, I think the producers need a little wake up call there, as a lot (all?) of it is already footage filmed some time ago. Agree the Hoonicorn segment felt a little out of place, would have been better as a standalone Ken Block video with a little more magic, as was lacking his usual intricate stunts, though that may have more to do with Top Gear budget/editors instead of his usual probable bazillion takes.

Sabine was great, symbolic how Evans became simply a sickly passenger, and Chris & Rory's sections were excellent too. Would love to see Chris hooning around in ancient sports cars a little more, something car shows lack IMHO. Would love to see something like power laps in classic supercars.

  • Episode one (May 29): 4.3million viewers; 21% audience share
  • Episode two (June 5): 2.8million viewers; 14% audience share
  • Episode three (June 12): 2.4million viewers; 10% audience share
I think it's probably going to stablise around 2 million.

I think it's a bit unfair of the press to be lambasting TG for low viewing figures this week, since there was a live GP on one channel, and a live Euro 2016 match on another at the same time.

Great episode, really enjoyed that. Harris stole the show for me but all segments were very well done, aside from the mini stuff which I skipped.

They've just tried to con me that Chris Evans is 4-wheel drifting the new R8 around Dutton, complete with reactionary close-up edits. Expect jezza only got filmed driving I know, but to try to dupe with that cos Evans has dropped dollar on a few Lusso's, do one.

Tribbiani is about as charismatic as when he got his big shot in Lost In Space.

This would have been better if they'd got chef James Martin and Guy Martin.

The Fizz has truly gone.

...I just finished watching the third episode. And I'm making this face: :indiff:

Dunno where all the gushing's coming from, but I thought this was the least enjoyable of the "new" new TG so far for me.

There was absolutely zero chemistry between all the presenters. Even LeBlanc sounded bored and stiff as if he's reading off a teleprompter unrehearsed. His clip with Ken Block should have been so much better. It felt very sedated instead, as if Matt took too much Valium in the morning or something. How was that even possible with a Mustang named Hoonigan barreling down the streets of London? Bah.

I never enjoyed Kevin Hart's brand of comedy but he was the one saving grace of the episode. Rory was actually pretty good, but then it still felt like something's missing from his segment as well. I blame the script writers on that one however.

Harris as usual did the business in the Ferrari clip but he also has no chemistry at all with his co-presenter(s).

And the editing. Oh god, the bloody editing. When the Clarkson and the band were doing the show, the length of each episode exceed 60 minutes by a fair lick. But now it's well under the hour mark. If the producers just relax the running time by a wee bit, then I'd have less headache induced by the damnable super-quick cuts in the studio segments...

I can't tell whether it's improving or getting worse...

Oh and Evans is still shouting like a kindergarten teacher. :ill:

Honestly they should just ditch the whole studio layout. It only worked with the old show because of the natural chemistry of the guys, but now its painfully forced and artificial. Replace Chris Evans with Chris Harris, and turn Top Gear into a serious car program.

I've watched both episode and I liked TG 3, it was nice, pace was nice but interview and rallycross car still not where it should be, especially with the sheer difference between lap time, not really interested.

Mustang bit was awesome, Ken Block is a beast and I love how Matt stayed cool headed the whole time. Really like that segment.

Drifting machine review was fine, not the best but decent anyway, I wish we could have some proper racing between the 3 cars.

Liked the TDF review, you can see that Chris Harris place is in a car and not in studio.

R8 was awesome exactly what I was expecting from Sabine even if the Drivers vs machine was ******** as you could see that during her machine lap she was doing all sort of stupid things while when she was in driver mode, she was very serious and concentrated.

About EG, it was nice, like the extra tibit, liked Rory interview.

Best episode so far - thoroughly enjoyed it also I'm really enjoying the Extra show on the iplayer. I've long been a fan of Chris Harris so very pleased to read the above post. Rory Reid is great.

In my view the old show had long since lost any chemistry and felt terribly forced and well past its sell by date, with Clarkson becoming increasingly unfunny as the years rolled on - this new show, particularly episode three I have found much more enjoyable. Hopefully they can keep up the standard. I just hope we don't have too many silly challenges or road trips - those were my least favourite part of the old show.

Got around to watching it last night. Overall an enjoyable 45 minutes of TV, the only downside was the guest segment that was far too long and also still badly formatted. Get rid of the cheesy auto-cue introduction for each other and get rid of the pointless audience vote that always ends 1-1 for the lap decider and you're onto a winner.

I'm really enjoying Le Blanc, if you're going to have scripted comedy still you might as well bring in someone who can actually do it, unlike certain rodent-like presenters of old.
