Episode 5... still more brochure reading :banghead:

Matt, the Rolls Royce doors open the other way so women don't flash their knickers when getting out of the car. I've known that for like 10 years!

Chris Evans doesn't like the Spirit of Ecstasy... blasphemy!

Top Gear USA was enjoyable enough for me, the chemistry between the 3 was actually pretty good and all 3 became pretty likable as time goes on, I'd take Rutt and Tanner and put them in place of Sabine and Evans in a heartbeat .

Yeah they had great camaraderie reminiscent of Clarkson and Co and were much better hosts than the current UK ones! Maybe if Evans get's fired we can get some of these guys over!

I heard they changed TG USA's format over time, I've only seen a few episodes and I'm not sure if they were in the original format or the changed one. Was pretty good.

Ryk
I liked the scientific approach to the BMW M3 cough M2 vs. Audi segment.
The science segment is kinda forced in. But to be honest its what you will get had BBC stick with Clarkson.

Also i think theres a huge flaw about the laptimes on a current SIARCC segment. The current episode had a slightly bad weather and theres huge puddles everywhere, making the car not just slower but also making the engine RPM crawl. The laptimes are about 17-20 full seconds slower than when dry, a rather huge gap compared to the old Reasonably Priced format where its "only" 5 seconds slower in average.

Chris Evans is still super painful to watch, I feel like he was almost worse this week then he has been. I do think Chris Harris continues to be very good and Rory Reid's reviews are just getting better and better all the time. Both the M2 and the Jag segment felt very much like classic Top Gear, even LeBlanc's review of the Dawn was pretty good since he actually gave his impression of it instead of rambling on from a crib sheet.

As it stands right now I think it would be a very solid show if they ditched Evans and made the cast Reid, Harris and LeBlanc with the occasional pop in from Sabine. They all have their own unique personalities that are interesting without being irritating.

Oh and the Jag test driver guy, he seemed like a badass.

===

Regarding USA Top Gear, it's sad that it was cancelled. I rather liked it and once they figured out the formula it was actually pretty good.

...So, I watched it today and...

Well, I thought it was pretty good, but the Zeos review felt a bit flat for some reason. In Extra Gear, there was a bit where Evans showed up at the Race of Champions and let David Coulthard and Dan Ricciardo loose on it and a Caterham - that bit should've ended up in the main show. Too Bad, I guess.

I really enjoyed Reid's Jag segment even though I thought the car was one of those redundant piece of money grab side deal; plus Norman Dewis was da man. Give that man a cookie.

And I can tell you right now Harris won't be winning any acting awards for a foreseeable future. Sabine wasn't missed at all, neither was Jordan.

The last bit at Dingle was a winner too, although it could've been a bit more funnier. Oh well.

M'eh, I was there when they filmed it, so I was possibly paying closer attention than some, but the intro was filmed after they'd done the race, and that really stuck out as fake to me - you can tell by the crowd numbers in the stands... And, Evans claiming "we're not supposed to be here" over and over again was bull, they announced it a number of times during the day - it was why I stuck around till the end.

...You were at the Champions? Lucky you. Color me jealous.

The out-of-sequence filming bit was probably the way how the shooting's done anyways. You should cut them some slack.

I think Evans was trying to be funny by being obviously ignorant or something. Hey, at least he's trying.

Still think he's irritating though. {Shrugs shoulder}

I don't doubt for a second that you are right, I just paid closer attention to the editing because I was hoping to see myself  At least the race and the result was genuine...

I've watched both Top and Extra Gear.

Chris Harris is improving a lot his studio stance and work, him and Rory start to have real chemistry in Extra Gear. Also having a bigger budget for filming means he can do stuff he couldn't with the Youtube films. The only thing bad is that he does have a limited time with the film. I hope that changes with his videos for Topgear.com

Chris Evans is so annoying  He can't review a car, he can't present/conduct a program properly, he screams at me like I've done something wrong or forces me to like a certain car. And I thought he was getting the hang of this.

Rory is fantastic. Much like Harris. I wasn't so familar with his Youtube videos, but I'm liking him very much and he is so happy to be there, which is very good. He has real talent to conduct the show, he can engage a conversation with the guests and can engage the viewers. I woudln't mind him as the "frontman"

Matt is also very good. Still getting the grips with this kind of show, but getting better and so is his humour. Oh, and he can actually review a car.

As for the episode:
The first film about the Zenos was rubbish, maily because Evans made it so. The filming was great, but the talking bit was worthless.
The first part of the Dawn video was very nice and Matt did very well with it. But the second part was eh. Better than the Zenos because Evans actually owns the car so it was a bit more interesting, but not as interesting as the Mercedes 600 Grosser vs. Rolls Royce Corniche by May and Clarkson.
BMW M2 film was very good as well something for a chage that I found entretainig, although I found Harris a bit over excited and OTT.
Rory and the SVR were very good as well, informative, entretaining and the idea behind it was very good, a challenge, a proper one.

Norman Dewis is the nicest person Topgear had so far. What a great guy and great story, the man is indeed a legend.

Totally Agree with you @AlvaroF

Except I couldn't really care about the Jaguar challenge, didnt excite me that much. Not sure why.

Also loved the interview of Norman Dewis and hated the interview of Evans. I still can't stand him, how he look, how he scream all the time. SIARRCC was awful too, couldn't be bothered watching it. All idea on that segment are wrong.

I'm really missing the news too, I hope they gonna find a way to show us news about car and prototype. It doesn't need to follow the same format as the old news because obviously it wont work without the 3 imbeciles but yeah some sort of news would be nice.

Aren't you confusing the bald Harris and the annoying Evans?

And Extra Gear kinda does the news, but it needs to be refined to be actually good.

View figures were actually up this time to 2.7 million, first time it went up in this series, last episode this Sunday.

Yeah obviously was meaning Evans and not Harris who's great (yeah I'm really bad with names), even if the m2 review felt a bit too unnatural at some point unlike the other review I saw so far from him.

Oh already last episode on sunday ? I thought the new format was longuer ? I remember reading somewhere that they were 16 episode this season spread into 2 series, would be weird to have 6 and 10 in december.

Is it me or does Evans come across as a tad rude?

I dont feel he's rude, he's just trying to hard for me and his overall looks doesnt help, dont get me wrong, Clarkson and May were probably wearing stuff that made even less sens, yet it fit them better. Also the fact that he's bringing his cars (like the rolls) make it sound like he's full of himself. Yeah I dont really like him lol. But 1 out of 6 I can't stand is ok for me lol.

I would argue that Euro 2016 has eaten into a chunk of the viewer base.

I'm 3 episodes behind due to this.

It no doubt has, I've only seen the two episodes myself but I question why the series was scheduled now. The Euros being a perfect excuse for any low viewing figures is my guess. Now maybe it wouldn't have had these figures at another time of the year but what if it did, no excuses to hide behind then.

So this is the last Clarkson encounter with Evans.

The first in Top Gear was when Evans shows his white Ferraris to Jeremy and last when James May borrows Evans Classic California. Only the latter shows on Youtube while the former are hard to find.
