...On a scale of one to ten, how bad is it? Should I not even bother watching it later in the week?

Dunno it's subjective but I would give it 3/10. Just reading brochures again, studio segments were a whole new level of cringeworthy, the guest bit was stupid and the end was stupid. The only good things were a few bits of the MG and 911R segments.

It's pretty average, but if you've enjoyed TG at all since 2008, then you should still be able to enjoy tonights episodes.

Rory and Matt are the best part of new TG. It is one season in, I think it can improve into so.ething great, with tweaks. Just don't ever expect it to be old new TG.

...That bad, huh.

.... Hell, now I'm curious to see what kind of train wreck it was. :mischievous:

....Thanks for the heads up.

I felt that the Mustang segment were scheduled strategically at 4th of July (though its still 3th for some people but still).

I'm also felt that this episode will be the last one with Evans in it. Not sure but many news and reports lean into that possibility.

And just as I'm slowly warming to the new(ish) format and presenters... the series ends. :indiff: I'd give that episode a 6/10. Matt was good, in fact he appears to be getting better and better. Even Evans wasn't as annoying. End segment was cringeworthy though.

OK, 'The Grand Tour', you're up next...

Kick Evans, put Rory as main presentator with Matt, add Eddie some time and let Sabine and Harris drive the faster cars. Perfect.

Personally I would have slightly change the format and kick stiggy I think. 1 racing drivers, Harris and the Stig is a bit too much and feel unnecessary. Not to mention the stig changed several time and then the benchmark comparaison that was supposed to be isnt here anymore, so it's less interesting.

I dont mind either way, Evans getting fired or him staying, I still think he could find his place if he was more natural.

For me it's gone from a must see show to a show I'l watch if I got nothing else to do. The only episode I liked was the South Africa SUV one, didn't care for the rest of the series.

I would get rid of Evans which judging by the rumours is extremely likely to happen as Matt hates him and is dating a producer on the show. Frankly they could get rid of all the rest of them, especially Chris Harris who is so full of himself it's unbelievable and not in a Clarkson funny kind of way.

He makes a joke about the NSX, no one laughs... that's because no one there is a car geek Chris, it's a light entertainment show not a YouTube auto review and no one cares... you’re on the wrong show mate!

The new guest rallycross track has proven to be a disaster because suprise suprise it rains in the UK turning it into an unsuable swamp making the lap times pretty incomparable in any meaningful way. Also this car Top Trumps thing is silly, especially if you pair an American with a Brit because they nearly always have much cooler first cars than we do because cars are so cheap over there.

They just need to get two other guys who are up for a laugh (possibly Rory) to join Matt and start doing Top Gear properly again. I'm surprised this series that they didn't even build anything which was disappointing. I think the BBC are going to seriously overhaul it anyway because the reception hasn't been great.

I tried to like it, I really did but it's just not possible! If this was any other show without the Top Gear name it would be canned after this first season like so many others.

Fair enough on him, he tried, didn't get the reception he wanted and is moving on. Can't really fault him for that, anyone else in his position would've said yes given the opportunity.

I think they'll just shift Matt into the main presenter role and move everyone else up, so to speak. Matt, Rory and Harris as the main three should work, make sure Sabine is thrown in more often though, she seemed barely involved this series.

Mind you it was still a stupid idea to pitch it against live football, anyone could've worked out that was going to take away a large part of their demographic.

Hopefully he'll go back and do another series of TFI Friday.

Am I the only one who found the Mustang segment slightly irritating by Rory saying the line lock "does nothing".

So, will they bring someone else in or stick will the current line up? Personally I'd hand the anchor reigns to Le Blanc and see how it pans out.

Got to feel bad for Evans to be honest. He's irritating as a character but the level of criticism he's received was simply not justified and I suspect was based more on the pro-Clarkson brigade being automatically against Evans whatever he did.

Le Blanc still can't transition between scripted and natural at all, I think he's much stronger during the segments than he is between them.

For me that leaves Reid or Harris as the front man, Reid is likable enough but doesn't really have any depth, and Harris is coming across like a slightly offensive over-expressive Jim Henson puppet as soon as he has to share the screen with anybody.

It's a shame Harris is so different on TG compared to how's he's like on CHoC.

Good news everyone... Seriously though I think he's a good presenter but he's often looked out of place on Top Gear, at least he's had the decency to step down and force the producers to have a rethink about what they want the show to be.
