Matt, Rory and someone else... would be a good start.

Matt putting his sandwich in the 911R's radio hole... Now thats Top Gear!

I think his personality will come out even more now that Evan's has gone.

Chris Evans resigns from Top Gear....

Nigel Farage resigns from UKIP....

Coincidence?

Chris Evans was a breath of fresh air to this show. I'm from the TFI Friday generation.

The celebrity timed lap commentary was the only weak bit. Even that fell flat the first season or two Clarkson did it.

Sad to see him go.

Le Blanc putting down the others so bluntly after their over-enthusiastic films grates badly. It's supposed to be enthusiastic! The off-road Ariel piece was his best bit so far.

Chris Harris is pure awesome. Less technical detail than YouTube but that's correct. BBC2 is mainstream. Online car channels are more specialist. Damper rate stagger on a DeltaWing would not be Top Gear.

Chris Evans would be welcome back in my living room next season. 👍

I feel he is still leaning too much to the technical side on Top Gear. He can't help it because thats the world he is from but it's also why I feel he shouldn't be on the show. It's a light entertainment comedy show which happens to feature cars!

"I'm going to get lynched for saying I didn't like the old NSX"

.....dead silence from the audience....

That's because no one understands why Chris!!!!

That's what the old new TG was. They were always clear this new new TG was not going to carry on exactly where they left of with that. It wasn't going to become boring Fifth Gear but somewhere in the middle. I'm glad personally, the scripted comedy got really bad the last three or four series, especially Richard "I can't act" Hammond.

The old 3 were from exactly the same world though, and would've said similar things to very little response from the audience.

Besides, if the audience members don't know that the original NSX is a widely revered sportscar, then what are they doing in the audience of a car show?

Someone would have either explained to the audience in that conversation the reasoning behind that NSX statement or Clarkson would have told May to shut up before he could continue as was often seen when anything technical arose in the past. It's a comedy!

The TG audience members are the equivalent audience members of something like Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway. They are not petrol heads, they are just people who applied for tickets and are a wide demographic quite representative of actual Top Gear viewership. We are in the minority!

I'm sure many people apply for Wimbledon tickets and don't care less about Tennis, it's just another event to not turn down like Glastonbury etc. No one would say no to Top Gear tickets.

...I couldn't believe that Evans quit TG until I ran into this screen grab of a tweet:

Uh, well. Hey, good luck on your next venture, Chris. Cheerio.

Sucks for Famine to be lumped in with a guy that didn't watch two thirds of the series yet still takes to Twitter with an opinion.

Though, "Barely in it"? Power Lap commentary, SIARCC segment, MG segment, linky bits.... "Barely in it" simply doesn't sound accurate to me.

I still don't have BBC America, but was able to watch the new Top Gear thanks to a coworker.

IMO the new series isn't great, nor do I find it unwatchable. I don't find it much worse than the last couple series of the old TG with Clarkson and company, which IMO were no where near what they once were.

I didn't even mind Evans that much, but do think LeBlanc does a better job as presenter.

The Mustang segment with Rory and then Harris and the MLB bit with the 911R were excellent - in fact the 911R was totally Top Gear. Couldn't fault it.

Compared to some of the episodes which were 'Evans and' or group features with Evans trying to be front and centre and he was barely in it. I reckon he had less screentime last night than any episode so far.

Also did I invent a hashtag there?

Mind you it was still a stupid idea to pitch it against live football, anyone could've worked out that was going to take away a large part of their demographic.

Ahh you see, that could actually have been a stroke of genius. To ensure a "second season" of Top Gear, the producers could use the Euro Cup to justify the low viewer turnout and test out what works and what doesn't. This has all been carefully planned out

Am I the only one who found the Mustang segment slightly irritating by Rory saying the line lock "does nothing".

Same here. I guess those Top Fuel dragsters do burnouts just for fun then also :banghead:

No real surprise that he has left, he tried but he wasn't the right fit for the show, these things happen, I enjoyed the series in general and I really liked Chris Harris after not being that aware of him before, was impressed with Rory and Matt, Sabine and Eddie weren't really in it that much...

If they need new hosts, then Cameron, Johnson and Farage are all looking for gainful employment ...

I mean, you can see how they'd fit the show - Cameron would be the James May type, proclaiming how sensible he is, but is largely ineffective. Farage would be the outspoken Jeremy Clarkson stand-in, proclaiming his love for everything British, even when it's rubbish. And Johnson could be re-cast as Richard Hammond, a perpetual annoyance who insists on silly ideas. Gove could be the new Stig, since he lacks charisma.

"On tonight's show: Boris tries to solve London's congestion problems with paragliders; Nigel sells Austin Healeys at a Mercedes dealership; and I review the new Vauxhall Bland."

Just don't let Atkinson near the Mclarens!

Then again......

This is the only guy I know to crash his Mclaren F1 twice and still end up selling it for more than he paid for it!

Give the man more Mclarens!!!! ;)
