US Gran Turismo 4 intro
dude don't be lazy read the thread. its van halen "panama".
Seriously, if the name of the song and artist haven't been mentioned a million times in this thread, then the pope isn't catholic.

No way man, the intro is great...sounds like some of us need a lesson in some classic rock and roll appreciation!
*do you remember the gt3 intro? Lenny Kravitz? Lenny Kravitz?!?!?
You gotta at least say that van halen beats the crap out of lenny kravitz.
(and it could have been some kind of japanese rock...at the worst)
rock on, it's only a matter of days now...

I AGREE 100%!!! SOMEONE MAKE THIS MAN PRESIDENT!!!!!!

I wanna see the Japanese intro, anyone care to provide a link?

I'm really dissappointed with this intro. As has been said, the song, in its own right, isn't bad, but it doesn't fit. The editing sucks.

Additionally, there's too much emphasis on "PANAMA!"

He says it so many times in the video, and it's with so much force at the end of the intro, that you almost think you're about to play "Panama", not GT4. The song just has too much of an identity of its own to be a good theme song.

One thing I do like, though, is that the car sounds are audible at parts, which works pretty well, and would be awesome with MOtC.

The intro looks better on a 48" TV.

Damn you to hell....j/k. I'm still frantically searching this frozen hostile wasteland they call Canada for a store that actually might release it on time.

But i'd just like to state I love the song Panama. I even loved hearing it live when I went to see Van Halen live at Joe Louis Arena July 10th, last year :sly:

Personally I don't mind the intro. I don't really pay attention to the music my focus is on the cars. But truth but be told I do prefer the Japanese intro

I would hev liked ZZ top instead of Van Halen lol

or maybe ACDCs "who made who" arf yeah I know.... wouldn't fit with race cars anyway lol

If there is a need to choose a song, chose the ones related to cars or someting.

Highway Star, for example (the one that appeared in my mind after 3 secs of thoughts)

The US does have somthing to do with a car.
Panama was the name of the car in the full song.

I have just seen the GT4 intro and I have to say I thought it was quite poor. First of all the music doesn't fit in with the actions seems almost separate, its also way too short. Personally out of all the intro from GT1, GT2, GT3 this is by far my least favourite.

👍

Every time I hear "Panama" on the radio now I instantly think of GT4 :D I still think its an excellent intro especially thru 600watts of surround sound! :D

yeah i got hyped up when i first watched it too. whats with kids nowadays not respectin some good classic rock? shame on you guys.

I loved the GT3 intro, the subtle start with a look inside the engine and then blasting into manic street preachers (song didnt fit that well but good song anyway). Definitely not feeling the GT4 intro much.

I still think the best intro vid, and music was in GT2, the one with the S2000 driving around in black in white, with the Cardigans-My favourite game, playing in the background.

Takumi Fujiwara opined,

"The song just has too much of an identity of its own to be a good theme song."

And I agree with him. My favorite intro to any GT game remains to this day the one from GT1. I know that ever since that one, we Americans have gotten the shaft-end and the intros changed.

WHY? WHY must they do this?

And hey, I'm old-skøøl dog: Van Halen's Panama rocks, oh yes it does. But it just doesn't belong in my GT4 intro. Damn song goes back to the eighties. I loved that song in its day, but as with the "Are you gonna go my way" intro we got stuck with in GT3, using these old tunes for theme songs in new games just feels anachronistic.

If you're old enough that you have already heard them hundreds of times... trust me, they just don't fit. :indiff:

Finally, I have a chance to sound off on the intro. Except for GT2, usually, the sequel to a more recent GT game is better than the last. GT1 gives you faceless racers and a faceless race team, and then lots of racing. GT2 had some old school working with all the vintage cars and such. GT3 gives you the GT500 Toyota Supra, and then explodes with some Lenny Kravitz.

Now, GT4. When I first seen it, I was stunned. I felt like I saw a very beautiful lady who smiled at me and wanted to talk with me. I felt like I was cemented to wherever I was sitting or standing. The Ford GT is already a beautiful machine, but seeing this LM model through Grand Canyon, New York, and whatever other settings there were, and with the orchestral remix of "Moon Over the Castle," my heart stopped. I was cool, and so was the intro. As I would say, it was a "mad sick" intro, you dig me, man?

Anyhow, it was a thing of beauty. I don't know about you, but I liked it. And finally I had a chance to share my view on this.
