US Gran Turismo 4 intro

I do not like famous artists on games. GTA is an exception.
Why Metallica, why? Nothing to do with GT since they are gayer day after day.

But the original GT4 OST kicks all the asses on earth. I mean the instrumental ones.
I am in favor to COMPOSE new songs for each game.

"Hey, Satriani, please play this game for two hours and compose someting heroic for us, please"
"Hey, Dream Theater, do the same, but we need 30 menu songs on 14 styles"
"Metallica, out"

I love metal, but I love DEATH metal like Possessed, Sarcofago, etc. The same way this death metal would NOT fit into GT style, u2 or metallica or whatever kids songs like LinkinPark or Eminem would not.

Gran Turismo is professional, is classy, it has its own finesse, its essence of powerful machines commanded by real gentlemen. Just like Monaco GP.

Consume your OTHER music in OTHER game. Not in Gran Turismo.

I totally agree with you. I mean Satriani would be one hell of a guitarist for the intro. Some Buckethead could be cool also. Does a lot of cool guitar riff that most of the time makes you feel like you're playing a video game. And the guitar riff of Panama reminds me of Binge and Grab.

Yeah I agree the meniu songs lack a bit in the GT series. I mean come on real songs would be cool. I usually turn off the Menu music as soon sa I get the game for it bugs me out.

Whoa I just checked out the intro mixed with AFI's day of the phoenix. Not a big fan of AFI but it sounded great with it. I'm gonna try to make a mix with it although I'm not sure how... Can somoone explain please . thanks in advance!

Like the Chappell part.

But the footage seems to be going a bit faster than the beat so it seems like the beat doesn't match what's going on.

I haven't watched the video yet, nor read about much of it in this thread because i want my game to start out with the intro, instead of already knowing what it is, but I'll bet the intro is probably better than the intro in most games. Maybe it's not better than GT3, which was one of the best intro's i've ever seen in a game, but it's probably still pretty good. I guess i'll find out in 2-3 days!

BS. Metallica was around long before Linkin Park. Metallica is not a kiddie band. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, hell even AC/DC would be sweet in GT, IMO.

BTW, never compare or put Metallica in the same category as Eminem.

Compare different categories is possible. Equipare not.

I like all the stuff you mentioned 👍 , have around 1500 CDs of heavy music, but i was saying... that does not fits in GT

I never heard of the band Van Halen before I watched the American intro. And the first couple of times i watched it, I hated that song. Everything changed around the 4th time that I saw it.

Now that I got my new computer with all types of analog inputs, when I get GT4 into my hands, I'll record the intro onto the computer and put it in every audio cd that I burn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To hear the cars fly by, gotta have that!!!

I don't think any alternative, country, rock, rap, techno, whatever song will transition over from opera.

The music matched the mood, van halen came on when it was time to stop admiring the 500+hp beast, and getting down to business (racing).

I liked the NA version better, and I feel sorry for the NA people who liked the japanese version better Oh well., GT4 is a day or so out!!!

For folks who have been playing the Japanese versions of the GT series from the start, that transition (if you call it that...) into 'Panama' is just awful! Worse off is you don't even get the trailing howl of the race engine when it fades out!

Agreed, I felt Panama was a great song for the intro! Anyone who has not heard Panama up until seeing the intro should do themselves a favor and get the full version of the song, seeing how the into left out the best parts (a guitar solo and a slow part).

And anyone who thinks Van Halen sucks really needs to listen to do themselves a favor and give their debut album a listen. Anyone who still thinks they suck after hearing their debut album is either not a fan of rock music, or just has no musical taste.

You cannot have Gran Turismo without Moon over the Castle (the name of the Japanese theme song for GT).

For GT3, I burned an audio CD-R with a copy of the music from the GT3 japanese intro and played it over the speakers the first time we booted up GT3 on my friend's PS2.

EDIT: Just burned an audio CD-R of the GT4 Japanese intro music to do the same thing.

The Panama intro is fine. Of course this whole subject of the song choice is completely subjective. If it were my choice, I might have gone a bit heavier than Van Halen. Metallica's pre black albums were great for a testosterone burst however I don't know if any of them really fit that intro. I would also think of Pantera, maybe Cowboys from Hell (whatever the song is).

Panama fits just fine, the Ferrari rev in the original song probably got a game engineer thinking. Think of it this way, Panama fits much better than a lot of other songs that might be proposed.
