US Gran Turismo 4 intro

If you head over to IGN, they have it in the Vids section, but very big. Good size, just not big enough.

Try here at GTP in the GT4 Vids section.

In all honesty... I cannot see how anyone doesn't like the NA intro. At first I thought it was "ok", but as I watch it more and more it grows on me. So far this is the best intro to any racing game I've ever played.

When I see the pit crew holding up their fists to signal that their job is done, and then I see the pit sign flip to "1st Gear" I get goose bumps.

GT4 INTRO MOVIE PAL!!
GT4 PAL INTRO MOVIE

Ohh..come on. Thats gotta be fake. You hear the same F1 noise for every single car. And the noises don't even line up with the timing of the cars passing by. Its like car goes by, silence, two seconds later you hear "vroom". And the song sounds hollow, like a low bit-rate MP3. I've done some video editing recently and I can almost with 100% certainty tell you its fake. Either that or someone hired someones inept cousin at P.D. as a favor and let them do the opening sequence.

The songs volume is too low, the engine SFX are too high, and you can hear them clipping. I mean the aim of the video was good. I mean they tried adding some SFX to make it sound more convincing, but in the end I don't think it came out the way it should have. Not that mine was any better, but it wasn't an obvious a fake.

No, yours was good!

After hearing it, I went and downloaded the song and am currently listening to it.

... Just saw the ASIAN intro video for GT4. I'm just not really impressed with it.

Not as good as the NA version IMO. The begining of our song was pratcially made just for the start of a race day. I have to admit, I think it woulda rocked even more if they would have left the words out and just played the music, but the NA version still owns.

Thanks :)

My only complaint about it was that I really wish I could have layered the sound of the engines over the song. Unfortunatly, I would gotten a weird cross between Metallica and Eddie's melodic playing. I'm trying out a few audio programs right now to see if I can extract just the engine noise.

Video editing is time consuming, but fun, and is a cool skill. I once took 36 hours to do a slideshow/movie for my work's staff party that in total length measured 8 minutes. I am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to this kinda stuff, never satisfied. But I learned alot. I made sure that each transition between pictures or film clips intersected with a drum or bass beat, as to maintain a sense of flow. When a scene transitions during a beat like that, things just seem to fit better. The end product was beautiful, well it wasn't Kubric quality, but it wasn't a bad start. All night people were coming up to me telling me how good it was. I still have people asking me to burn them copies because they thought it was amazing. The year before someone did a slideshow using Windows Movie Maker, but all they did was preset the transition timing and threw in a playlist of songs. I mean, ok, it was cool, but after having a fast beating song, and the pictures staying up for 5 seconds each, it started to drag, there was no flow. Flow is important.

My proof is in my "Fuel" version video. When the car drops, you hear a the stereo kinda kick in with a drum beat. That I think is the coolest part of the Fuel version video I did. And then when you hear the vocals kick in it zooms out off the GT logo, and onto the Ford GT as it speeds away, that seemed to fit well by me too. Also, at about 2:38, we see the CLK-GTR, you hear that streching vocal of "And On I burn, Churning my direction" as the camera pans across the speeding front of the car. That also fit well. The things that I wish I could have done differently was at the end, when you see the cars run through the corkscrew, it doesn't transition fast enough to match the music and it interrupts the flow. Flow is what can make the difference between a good music video/movie or a bad one.

But thanks for the praise, glad to know you some of you guys like it.

None of the 3 work for me ...

I'd also just prefer an instrumental ... I think the Metallica one would work best if it were just the instrumental ...

Im gonna go ahead and put up my vote for the US Intro. The Van Halen totally gives it a new attitude. Its a bit more welcoming, i find, and it really grows on you.

The Japanese one is a bit to generic for me. I feel like im watching Initial D or something. Like the lyrics are about to pick up, "Go! Go! Happy fast Superstar Car!"

I still love seeing the sign flip over and the VH kick in. The opening part just rocks. Also relevant though, i have to say that they nailed the engine sounds. The first race scene where the cars fly past out of the pits...wow! Ive been to a few ALMS races in my time, and thats pretty much what its like. Only louder. Alot.

Video good. Song bad.

By the Way just saw the GT4 commercial with the imprezza rally car and they added in game video of a lancer rally car.

This thread growth rate is phenominal!!! 224 Posts within 2 days, But anyhow, I would have to say, Gturismo1, an excellent job with the Fuel video. Absolutely love it.

Bottom line, lets make threads that are about real issues. I would, but I hate the thread moderation, so I won't.

We're all just killing time...It's getting pretty evident. Life has stopped until GT4 arrives, so get used the absence of real issues for 3 more days...j/k :)

Offtopic as well. But seriously, I remember David Lee Roth leaving, then Sammy Hagar leaving, then Gary Cherone leaving, then Sammy coming back. I don't really remember Eddie, Mikey, or Alex ever leaving the band.

Anyways, I like the song alot, being a die-hard Van Halen fan. But it would have been nice to hear some engine noise over the song. I mean Panama starts playing and after about 20 seconds not a engine rev, a tire squel, anything is heard until it is over. It kinda looks cheap because there are no SFX throughout the half the video. I made my own version, using a different song, and let me tell you, it fits a hell of alot better. Unfortunaltly, I don't have a hosting site. I could try and put it up on YouSendIt, but it won't be up for long.

My Version Of The GT4 Opening Video
i love your version! fuel fits great. way better than panama. i love van halen but it just didnt fit. oh and dave came back for one song. you left that out.

PD's plan works...the NA version caters to the American public, with different tastes from the Asians. Personally, I think the Japanese version is better. But then again, I may be influenced by my Chinese culture. :)

Okay, maybe I just missed a reply somewhere in this mess but there's something I'm not understanding.

Someone earlier in the thread said it was a crappy intro, that aerosmith (or metallica, or "insert band here") was playing, and it just sucked. Where that opinion comes from I really don't know - Van Halen blows Aerosmith to bits, I'm sorry, and it totally fits with this introduction. The Ford GT is an american car, and what better song to go along with it than one from an incredibly awesome american rock band?

I'm not trying to knock anyone or anything. I was just upset that people thought the video was total crap when it's actually pretty awesome. Besides. This is a petty discussion we are having here my friends. We don't play the game to watch pretty intros now, do we? :)

all i know is when i see that intro, i will be one happy man.

Yeah I thought it was good too, should have been a little longer.

Granted, yes. I can see the point about it not synching up and how it feels "layered" on top of the video. That's totally valid, but comeon.. it's the friggin Ford GT!! I don't know a man alive who wouldn't do that car. :P

How about someone who doesn't like Fords. Not me, just other people.
I am not a fan of the GT40, but the GT is nice.

I have to say, PAL users may want to skip.

I dont like fords myself, but the GT or GT40 those are two cars I would almost die for.

The GT seems to be well worth the cash.

But anyways, I suggest some of you listen to the full song of Panama. And be somewhat glad it stops where it stops. B/c the rest of the song is a bit slow.

That sucks though, you miss out on the best lyrics. Your totally missing, "Reach Down Between My Legs...and....Ease the seat back"...hahahaha...pure DLR baby :)
