US Gran Turismo 4 intro

petsmart
i do agree with the other guys they should of used the song battery from metalica

Actually, I think "Fuel" would have been a better choice. In fact, I'm going to try mixing up a version of the intro with that song and see what it sounds like.

It's still a nice intro ... and if you don't liek the music, you can allway mute it ;).

But to be honest, I don't like idea of different intros for each version.

metallica doesn't fit.

and fuel is a horrible song. panama is great, but they just pieced it in wrong...that's all.

Actually, I just tried it.. I can't preview the entire thing (I'll render it out and watch it tomorrow, I'm off to bed soon), but "Fuel" definitely fits better than "Panama".. it's got that high-octane rush that "Panama" is missing... the part that gets your blood pumping.

i think Gt4 intro is the worst in the GT series. .nothing special at all :indiff:..but this intro was better than the Japanese-version

Everybody is trowing their opinions, so I feel like I should give mine, too... :)

I've seen both JP and US (don't knwo about PAL) and what I think is, JP version is great, the music matches the editing, the music brake for the engine roaring, it is very upbeat. The US version with Panama is also great. Either way, it get a shiver every time I watch the intro, disregard of the version.

That Ford GT... man, I have no words for that (at least in English). But in my own language, what can I say? Aquele Ford GT é o caralho alado. Macacos me mordam!

C ya!!!

ps: Just for the flamethrowers... songs I think that could be used for the intro as well:

Ministry - Jesus built my Hotrod
Mettalica - Fuel
Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock (GT3 remix)
Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice
Gun's and Roses - Welcome to the Jungle (nicely used in GTA:SA)
Iron Maiden - Be Quick or Be Dead (this one would be a killer) :banghead:

You know it would have been nice if they had edited the opera part out though, it's a bit of an odd transistion between that and Van Halen.

Yes, you take the Japanese version with slowdown, no garage battles, less cars, various glitches. Just because you don't like the intro. Uk version will be worse because it will have Kasabian 'Reason is treason' which is a good song but it fits less than Panama.

The PAL GT2 intro blew chunks as well.

Edit: But damn that opera doesn't fit at all. 👎

I get your point, I don't really care about the intro see as though I can watch it on my PC whenever I like. I also converted it into an mp3 and listen to it on my iPod in the car!!! Makes for a more interesting drive down the shops!!!

Since everyone seems to be posting their opinion on what appears to be the U.S. intro for GT4, here is my take:

NOTE: I'm not so much focusing on the 'music' but how it can help create a certain feeling during the intro....

Opening sequence:
As the movie starts, you see the Ford GT, which itself is an awesome car, regardless if it's from Ford, and then when the Opera music starts, you suddenly get the sense you are witnessing the start of something that was once beleived to only exist in the realm of your imagination....to finally be able to play GT4...A game almost 4 YEARS in the making!

As the camera starts to pan around the car, showing every possible angle the human eye can comprehend, you start to witness just how much better the graphics are as compared to previous encarnations of the game. Then, as the background starts to morph from one dramatic background to the next...this is when you start to fully understand the great lengths PD/Sony went through in bring this game to life! Just from this short vid, one should be able to clearly see it is a masterpiece that has yet to be fully recognized for what it is.

The Grand Canyon looks almost REAL...almost like you had driven the Ford GT to that very cliff yourself & put it in park, got out & started filming the scenery yourself.

The New Your background is simply stunning! Though I've never been to the East Coast, from what I have seen regarding NY, I'd swear I was there right now in real time!

Then, as the background starts to morph yet again to the garage area in pit lane & you first see the stewarts (?) walking along in a single file line, you get the impression that something BIG is about to happen and yet you have no idea what it is, though you're still sitting on the edge of your seat in total anticipation of what lies ahead!

As the Ford GT starts to slowly exit the garage, you're filled with excitement as one could almost take this harmless image as the games release date soon approaching both here in the US & across the pond and then your blood starts to boil as you start to think back to that very day, either weeks or months ago, when you first laid down your measley $5 or $10 dollar deposit from your local game store to buy the game and immediately realize, all that waiting is about to come to an end.

For a brief moment in time, the focus changes from the Ford GT to the BMW & Skyline as they start down what appears to be Pit Row and then it hits you...This game is going to ROCK! And when the camera focuses its attention back again onto the Ford GT, as it pulls to almost a complete stop and all you see is the rear right wheel, your inner child yells out to you..."I'm here and I'm gonig to have some fun now!"...and then you suddenly realize that this "inner child' is right but yet for some strange unforseen & unspeakable reason, the release date, even though it's just days away for us in the US and another two weeks or so for everyone else, starts to seem like years away...Then, just as the one lone driver starts to lower his visor, you think to yourself..."That should be ME!" LOL!

BAMN! The change to the classic Van Halen tune of Panama kicks in...as does the 'action'...The Ford GT cuts out of Pit Row just ahead of the BMW, Benz & Skyline...and as all 4 cars speed down the straightaway, one after the other. you almost feel engulfed in what you're seeing. Your brain starts to tell you this can't be real, yet you know it is!

The cut scenes with all the amazing cars in the game starts to give your brain a real visualization of just how this game will rule and why it's the epitome of all console race sims to date! You then instantly say to yourself.."Look at all these great cars that will MINE to drive...at some point during the game of course....on almost any track I can imagine...hopefully of course! :)

Anticipation of actually having the game in your hand or in your PS2 thickens, while the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as if you just saw a ghost. You can't believe the details of such a game can be so damn good and wonder why other games can't get the whole GT genere from off its high & mighty mountain.

The ending!
Nothing to say except that it left me wanting this game more & more with each passing day! So, yes, I LOVED this intro and the feeling it brought in anticipation of next week's U.S. release date!

Regardless if you like the music or not, you can't deny that there is something magical about it...whether it's some form of subliminal message saying this game is going to ROCK, or simply knowing that in a few short days and/or weeks...the long wait will be over and you will have finally found salavation!
(OK! Maybe that is taking it to the extreme! LOL)

Personally I can't think of any other song that would have been a better choice..for either the opening focusing on the Ford GT, or for the rest of the vid! Simply awesome is all I have to really say!

I'm not a writer, journalist or anything like that so don't hate on me for this cheesy attempt at putting 'thought to paper!'.... 👍

Red Raevyn
If they REALLY wanted it to be american, they'd have used "America, F Yeah" from Team America.

That woulda rocked.
Hahaha! I just tried to sync that song in with the movie and it sounds really great  👍

Do not worry US friends, "Reason is Treason" remix in PAL sucks asss big time:).

IMHO they've should licence G n' R "Welcome to the Jungle" for US GT4, but Axl do not allows licencing of his music (as oppose to other members of the band who would love to do it)for any purpose whatsoever, except for AAA movies:). Smart man I must say.

And for Europe, they should choose ABBA'S "Dancing Queen", it would be better then this Kasabian crap.

I think the song is okay, like it's better than rap, it's livable, but the thing is...

It doesn't have the same professional and elegant feel of Moon Over the Castle and the essense of Gran Turismo.

What the Hell!!!!!!!! The audio was terrible but if was excellent quality it still sounds crappier than the US version!!! The same engine noise over and over on top of the vids does not make sense :nervous:  👎 :grumpy: :yuck:

As in playing the song while watching the intro or an actual edit? Please let it be an edit. I'd like to see F' yeah in the intro lol.

Yeah the pal verison is pretty bad.

Ok, firstly I just played it through while watching the intro, then I edited the song over the top. 👍 I dunno if GTP will host it because of the whole copyright thing :(

OMG,

Just watched the US opening.

It is the thing that MOST SUCKS in the whole universe. Ammm... no. George Bush sucks more. But it is HORRIBLE anyway.

Thanks to my self that i bought Japanese version to listen and US to read.

Amar,

how come "Welcome to the Jungle" is tfeatured on GTA San Andreas then?

I really hated it at first but after watching it a few more times it's starting to grow on me. The only things that bother me are when you first hear the race cars, you hear'em better in the Japanese intro...the guitar riff is lower I guess. What I do like is that they included more engine roar clips afterwards 👍 The ending left you hanging but it did the same in GT3. GT2 was the bestest...I liked Prologue too :)

BTW, PAL intro sucked a$$ really bad :yuck:

OMG What did they do to the intro of the PAL version? :ill:

Looks like I gonna mute my television after the operapart en unmute it when the intro is over. :indiff:

Worst intro music ever. :yuck:

I really like granturismo1's intro with Metallica. The song really does go well with the intro. However, the freaking intro is only going to be viewed once by the majority of people so its pretty pointless to analyse them.
