US Gran Turismo 4 intro

japanese intro is perfect
btw, the Us music is good, but just not match with the intro
they can do better than this by comparing GT3
but hey ...
look at Burnout 3, I think that intro song sucks harder but at least it sync to the scene change

Apollo
The intro just doesn't flo with the music now??? At 1:47-2:10 is great...

Watching it over a few times, I'd have to weigh in saying that I like the intro. The shift from the operatic opening to Panama is a bit sudden, but it's not too bad. And I'd say that I think the music does mesh well with the visuals. Listen and watch right at 1:54 and you'll see the stripes mesh well with the guitar. At least I think so and that's all I really care about... :P

I think those that hate it need to settle down and take some deep breaths and learn to enjoy the game.

I'm a person who wants to experience all that the game has to offer. Hearing people say 'B-mode sucks!', 'Photomode sucks!', 'I won't listen to the music!'', and 'I'll just skip the opening!' makes me that at a gourmet meal, these people would just gobble down the food without savoring the taste. I'm a GT connoisseur, so I'm going to enjoy all facets of the game. I'll play through the Arcade game before I even touch the Simulation game. I'll listen to the music sometimes and I'll turn it off for others. I'll drive using all of the views. I'll play using A-spec and B-spec and I'll enjoy Photomode.

I'm going to be enjoying GT4 for years to come, I'll tell you that! :)

Ugh...definitely like the Japanese intro music better. I think the song "What to Believe" from the soundtrack (and GT Prologue) would have fit better. For those of you who have this track, turn the music all the way down and start playing it after the opera music ends. Fits much better.

What I still don't understand is why PD/SCEA keeps on changing the intro song with every game. Nintendo never changed Super Mario's theme, nor did Atari with Pac-man, just to name those two... GT's intro is pretty much it's theme. Moon over the Castle has been in every single Asian version of GT since 1996, while we had 4 different artists... They should have stuck with the Chemical Brother's song, which was pretty good.

I enjoyed the intro. Van Halen is a classic American band and the song fits with driving anyway just look at the lyrics:

Jump back, what's that sound ?
Here she comes, full blast and top down.
Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue.
Model citizen zero discipline
Don't you know she's coming home with me?
You'l lose her in the turn.
I'll get her!
Panama, Panama
Panama, Panama
Ain't nothin' like it, her shiny machine.
Got the feel for the wheel, keep the moving parts clean.
Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue,
Got an on-ramp comin' through my bedroom.
Don't you know she's coming home with me?
You'll lose her in the turn.
I'll get her!
Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight.
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off of it.
Ah, you reach down, between my legs,
ease the seat back.
She's blinding, I'm flying,
Right behind the rear-view mirror now.
Got the feeling, power steering,
Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now!
Panama, Panama
Panama, Panama

For me the best of GT intros was the one from the Japanese GT2. The ending movie of Asian GT4P was also very good and the "digitalized" Gran Turismo Theme was just amazing. Too bad they changed it in a PAL Version of Prologue.

I for one could care less about the Intro. You watch it the first time...meh, then you merely click past it everytime you start the game up anyway. What's the big deal? Download the Japanese one if you are that hard up for an intro...sheesh!

US intro........

Why do they insist on meddling with the perfect Japanese intro? The Japanese intros have been the best in every game. Wonder what song they'll mash into the PAL version of the intro? (Maybe I should ask Amar...)

***EDIT***

Reason and Treason for PAL version :yuck:

i believe music always sets the mood if you have a kick @ss intro with racing music and have a kick @ss vid 2 go with it you feel really pumped up to play now in this case u have a good song that does not match the intro kind of a downer......dont get me wrong its a good song but does not belong in gt4. And i believe 85% of americans do like the moon over the castle intro which also was the original for GT3 aswell

I LOVE this intro. I think it matches the visuals just fine. A great American song by a great American band who kicked **s in their prime (generally around when this song was made if not slightly before).

A fine choice IMHO.

Red Raevyn
If they REALLY wanted it to be american, they'd have used "America, F Yeah" from Team America.

That woulda rocked.

Damn straighte. I'm glad its not like the japnese version. I never liked that song. And oprea type music doesnt fit it anyway. You guys complain too much.

By the way NWA was 90's not 80's.

I thought the intro was good, but not as good as the Japanese version. I also agree with the psoter that said that Battery by Metallica would have been a great intro song.

On a semi-related note, Panama and Moon Over the Castle sound bad when played together.

yeah, the song doesnt seem to match the game too well. but still a good intro. out of al the GT games i apreciated the GT1 music and intro the most. They didnt seem to put much effort into synching the song's tempo with events in the video.

Ehk... I really don't mind the song, but I hate it being in the intro. The Japanese version is so much better. Did they think Americans would have complained about an instrumental being in the intro or what? The song in the Japanese was either made for the intro, or the video was synchronized very well to the video... *sigh*

yep, you hit it on the spot. the jpn version was synched perfectly. while on this one they simply layered a song over the video and called it a day.

Hey, it could have been ALOT worse, they could have used a song by Van Halen from the mid 90's when Eddie wasn't in the band for a little bit. (shrugs)

Offtopic as well. But seriously, I remember David Lee Roth leaving, then Sammy Hagar leaving, then Gary Cherone leaving, then Sammy coming back. I don't really remember Eddie, Mikey, or Alex ever leaving the band.

Anyways, I like the song alot, being a die-hard Van Halen fan. But it would have been nice to hear some engine noise over the song. I mean Panama starts playing and after about 20 seconds not a engine rev, a tire squel, anything is heard until it is over. It kinda looks cheap because there are no SFX throughout the half the video. I made my own version, using a different song, and let me tell you, it fits a hell of alot better. Unfortunaltly, I don't have a hosting site. I could try and put it up on YouSendIt, but it won't be up for long.

My Version Of The GT4 Opening Video

MOON OVER THE CASTLE --- This song has to be the only song used for GT anywhere!!! the guitar riff is awesome and so is the rythem. I HATED GT3's intro with Lenny (Liked the song on the radio, but not on GT3) Why pD, WHY!!??!?!?!?!?

Just watched it....um... Van Halen/Panama is my generation, and I absolutely HATE that intro. I'm sure I'll only watch it once, then when starting the game for the next 4-5 years, I'll be pressing the select button rapidy to get to the main menu. :indiff:
