i think they should keep the UCD but just use cars that other players are selling, an extra option for the people that don't want to trade cars with their friends.

Like an Auction House? I'd rather keep the two ideas separate - despite the increase in connectivity this generation, some people still play offline. Besides, that would require massive support from the servers.

the UCD has always been part of GT, i don't see a reason why it shouldn't be in GT6, the difference is that in older titles, you could buy a car whenever you had the credits required, the UCD was there just to provide better deals

Well, every full GT, 3 excepted, did have rotating used car dealerships: GT1 and GT2 rotated their lineups every 10 days, and there were rarities (the 22B was a rarity in GT2, the Nismo R32 a rarity in GT1), and GT4 had the pre-90's, 90-95, and 96-up dealers. There's always been the "have to wait to find certain cars" factor. I'll agree it's a standard feature, a quirk, of the GT series, but...

No. No. No. Every car should be available at all times. Waiting to find a car is just stupid.

I can argue this, as well. Ideally, I still think GT should have all cars available immediately on start-up... in Arcade Mode. Maybe lock whatever sorts of cars are gifted to the user for feats of time/talent in Sim Mode - the license golds, Special Events, 100%, etc - but despite all the talk of "putting time in" on the forums to find that W12 Nardo Concept, the fact that some players can go months without ever even seeing it up for sale is sure to put off a lot of the more casual gamers. And those are the ones who contribute most to the sales figures.

GT6 could do without it, but since the UCD is so engrained in the GT series, it will probably be there. But it has to be implemented properly.

This is how I can see it working.

New Car Dealership: All new road cars from 2004 or 2005 to present and various older road cars are available here.
Used Car Dealership: Most road cars from 2004 or earlier are available here.
Online Car Dealership: Various cars available here based on events and themes.

Under the "Race Shop" umbrella where you buy parts for your car, there would be 2 additional dealerships.
Racing Car Dealership: All recent Racing Cars and various historic Racing Cars are available here.
Tuned Car Dealership: All Tuning Cars available here.

Under this model, all concept cars and some historic (20th century) Racing Cars would be prize cars only (OCD being a temporal exception).

Used car dealership would be ideal but they need to sort out what cars go in there, not exactly realistic to have a Renault Avantime next to a Pagani Zonda S.

+1

I vote yes. I want to keep the used car dealership, with PREMIUM cars only. Its boring to buy cars that are already there in a game. I rather find the cars I want to find that is rare to have/own.

Without a UCD with "rare" cars, the whole trading thing will be gone.

i think they should keep the UCD but just use cars that other players are selling, an extra option for the people that don't want to trade cars with their friends.

I completely agree with this. But in addition Gran Turismo series have always had a used car dealearship and it should have in future too. Just get rid of STANDARD detailed cars alltogether.

And put in UCD premium models with some mileage in them and/or with some damage. It's only realistic to not have all cars available at once.

Actually you don't even need to tell players is it cpu or another player selling that car. Mix them up. And make it so thatt player can feel to make better deals than buying brand new cars from dealerships.

It would be nice if you could order a car in UCD and Get a notification from the car dealer that he found it but you'll have to pay a little extra.

About online auction, it doesnt need much of a server power, like you share a car with your mates, instead of uploading the car data sheet for friends only, you upload it into a different directory that anyone can view it.
The user ID, money/offer, date, car data sheet etc all together must be less than 200kb of data, cause you dont actually upload or download the car, the car is already in the disc/ in your PS3, it just unlocks it and adds/overwrites the config/extras/condition to the data sheet of the car.
GT5 already does that with the borrow feature.

With the resources of PD and Sony, IMO they can have this up in a week even for GT5. Unless if they have tried already and GT5's code decides that with this feature.... the guy that washes the car loses the sponge or his shoes and so on.

Considering how much data Sony's server handle every day this is nothing for their servers.

I like the used car dealership. Its always been a part of GT but was horribly mishandled in GT5

Dont make the used car lot separate, each manufacturer should have it's own used car lot right next to the new car lot, just like in GT1.

Agree. There should also be filters to sort through cars to make the one you want easier to find. And, if they finally do include online selling of players cars, I wouldn't mind seeing those pop up in the used car dealership as well given that you have online capabilities, not every used car you buy is 100% stock!

I remember in TXRD2. There was a UCD in the game where cars had bodykits, matted hoods/trunks, wearing different set of wheels and even modified. Also the damage and mileage were there too, so that would be a awesome idea for a new upgraded UCD. I'll like a similar UCD like that for GT6, with a filter added to sort out manufacturers that're in the UCD.

Of course it will be Premium cars...

In GT6, the segregation between Premium and Standard will no longer exist...

and as such Premium and Standard will no longer be of GT's vocabulary.

All cars, whether new or used, will be designed with the same level of quality...

the Premium and Standard qualities only existed in GT5 because and only because the designers at Polyphony just didn't have the resources and time to put all cars with the same level of quality.

So my guess and my hope for GT6 is: no more differences in quality...
all cars are uniformly pretty!

The UCD has always existed in GT since day one.
It cannot be done away without it.

And its purpose was never to be holding lower quality designed cars...
... it just happened so in GT5 for practical reasons... no more, no less...

So please dont associate UCD to Standard car, it's not GT5

And for the Love of God and the Virgin Mary, please could they put a better music to the UCD!!!!! ??!!!

used car dealership has always been part of gt so it should stay. but heres an idea, what if there was a regular used car dealer for road cars, and there was a legendary race/road car dealer too.

but i think it definetely needs to stay

Used car dealership is quite good. If you want to collect different cars you can buy there cars what you want.

I would say a dealership for offroad, classic cars, etc.

What about being able to put cars from your own garage up for a price, or auction?

Be nice to keep the UCD with cheap cars with miles on them.

Also have all available with no miles but a higher price.

Everyone's happy.

The UCDs can be used to get cars that are older than some cutoff point determined by PD. What they can do to mix things up in the dealership is make sure that either a large amount of cars are available in each rotation, or just make everything available.

In terms of what's in the dealership, it would be interesting to go a step beyond the 'bonus' 6.2mi cars and maybe feature the occasional car that already has a couple tuning parts installed. So-called 'retired' race cars with high mileage could be offered at a discount to those who need a race car but can't afford something brand new/cutting edge or with low miles.

Just a little something to keep us on our toes and be a pleasant surprise.

It makes the game interesting. Hunting for that car that you've been looking for weeks and finding it is very rewarding.

But all should be premium now.

I like the used car dealership. Its always been a part of GT but was horribly mishandled in GT5

My idea:

Every car from the year 2006 and onwards is in the new Car dealership. New cars have 0 miles, are in perfect condition, and are available in factory colors.

Dont make the used car lot separate, each manufacturer should have it's own used car lot right next to the new car lot, just like in GT1.

Used cars should always be available to buy all the time. Their color and condition (mileage, chassis wear etc) should be random and unchangeable until you buy them.

Race cars should be "special models" available in "new" car condition from the dealership no matter their year

I liked the element of surprise in the dealerships in GT1 and GT2, where the makes and models didn't change all that much but now and then you'd come across something interesting.

Just seeing that screen cap takes me back. Life was simple back then. ;)

I defenitely don't want to see a UCD system like GT5's. Waiting God knows how long for a car I want, especially when I have the money,is not enjoyable to me, it's annoying. I proved that I deserve the car by earning the money. Don't throw an irritating waiting game in my way too.

That being said, I wouldn't care if GT6 didn't have a UCD. GT3 didn't have it and it's still the most fun and enjoyable game in the series to me. I don't dislike the used car gimmick, but the novelty quickly wears off for me. I don't care where my cars came from.

if they were just there itd be too easy and youd get bored

This isn't true for all of us.

I say yes to a Used car dealership. But all cars in the game MUST BE PREMIUM.

I think used car dealership would be a good way to be able to buy some of the cars for a cheaper price. This would help people early on in the game when they do not have much credits. It's also cool I think, to be able to buy an old banger, restore and tune it into top notch condition.

Also another advantage for a Premium used car dealership is because it would allow for the possibility to have rare and unique cars by not including them in the new car dealership. This would make the value of some cars really high so people would want to trade cars more. I would also make it fun to be able to collect the rare cars.

GT3 didn't have a used car dealership. I was very dissapointed.

The UCD should switch around every 7 days, allowing you to get enough money to buy the car you want without having to worry about it disappearing so soon. This UCD would have all cars in it, but they will be worn out and cheaper.

How would you buy your first car if there was no used car dealer? That's the first place I go in a GT game!

I voted no but only due to the way it's currently implemented. I still want a UCD, but it needs an overhaul.

The UCD should have a combined offline/online-community based way of being populated. Drastically slow down the offline cycle so that cars become even more rare. As actual players start finding and buying these cars, they can then start populating the UCD with their used car finds (including cars they purchased at the dealership).

Someone without an internet connection can still buy used cars, albeit at a slower rate, but the majority of players with a connection will form a more realistic used car dealership experience.

It's a bit Forza-esque, but used cars in GT actually simulate wear and tear so it's a much more fulfilling experience.
