Whatever they do there needs to be hundreds of cars available to buy at any time. By all means keep 'rare' cars from appearing so often but all of the bog standard daily runners that GT is full of should be available any day, any time, just like the real life second hand market.

There only being 30 cars available at any one time was ridiculous.

The idea of requesting a notification when a car pops up used is interesting, though it would depend on how they handle used / new car purchases generally.

Also I wouldn't mind seeing a hybrid of the GT2 "Used Car / New Car" system. Every marque has it's own "New Car" dealership that sells some / all models in brand spanking new condition, the manufacturers with larger catalogues and maybe more every day cars (Nissan, BMW, Toyota, etc) could also have a "Used Car" section just like in GT2. Then there could be a special "Pre-owned" dealership where you find a selection of low mileage high end sports cars.

I just got a brilliant idea for the used car dealership. What if we get a button somewhere we can leave a mark in that says "Notify me when these cars are available in the dealership" and when you mark that button, a menu opens, and you can freely go through all the cars, and mark the cars you want, so you could be notified when they are available. It's so darn random in GT5, and it's easy to miss the car you want. Would be great to be notified.

- Unless the whole system is revamped so every car is available at any given time.

Perhaps something along the lines of the Auto Trader type search box?

Why instead of that, we get 3 dealership:

Premium Dealership
Standard Dealership
Used Car Dealership

Doesn't make much sense, sorry. Cars shouldn't be split by an im game categorisation, they should be like the real world, new and used.

How about one big dealership with every car in the game listed under their respective brands. Then when you click on the car you would have options to buy new (provided it's a recent car), collector, or used. There won't always be one to buy in the collector and used categories but I like the reserve/feeler idea for them. Then when one pops up you can either buy outright or put a down payment to reserve it for when you have the cash.

It would function like the three dealerships now in that you can buy cars brand new any time (again as long as they're within the last 5 years or so), collector (0 miles and could include historic cars at a premium rate), or used. The benefit being that in most cases it wouldn't be tough to pick up at the very least a high mile version. 👍

Edit: forgot to mention any premium car that is old enough to not be available as "new" would always have a collector model available so we can still buy them anytime like we can now. They can have really high prices to keep them exclusive like the historic racing cars/Miura etc.

Absolute genius idea!! assuming the used car dealership stays in the same format this has to be the way to go.

I understand what you say, but in this way we have all cars, we can see all premiums that allmost people want and the standards devidi in 2 sections, the standard dealership where you can see all standards cars and buy with 0 miles/kilometers or the used car dealership when you can buy thoose cars but cheapers

Good idea, I also think it would be good if premium cars could be available in the UCD.

I agree so much: used premium cars are a great idea. Being able to integrate online users selling their cars would also be a good idea, IMO.

It wasn't really random in GT5. It was just a list that it slowly cycled through. I forget how many cars were in there at once and exactly how many came and went at once, but I think it had thirty-six at once, with the six at the bottom being shoved out and six added at the top every time you left an event. The order was the same every time.

Two important facts need to be pointed out here:

1) The used car dealership was simply a way of making the 800+ sub-Standard last-gen carry-overs available in the game.

2) It was not meant to adequately simulate an actual used car dealership, wherewith you have no say on what shows up and anything can turn up at any time. Arguing that it shouldn't make all Standards available at once because that is unrealistic is a pointless argument since it doesn't act like a real UCD anyway. Further, some cars in the UCD had zero miles, as I recall.

Just make all the last-gen stuff available all at once and be done with it.

Thanks guys, I knew this forum needed this discussion thread. 👍

True, but why not make it like I mentioned? Would be a lot better. Instead of going in and out of events when you are desperate after that one particular car.
And also, a possibility to have like 25% of the cars one game week, another 25% the next week and so on. Once gone through all it starts over again.

Thst is like TDU 1 with classics, you can reserve and when it's avaliable you can buy it.
I like this idea and mix up std's and pre's in the UCD and in the NCD. I would love being able to buy a premium car in the UCD and a standard car in the NCD.

New cars (2012+?) go to New Cars Dealership

Used cars go to Used Car Dealership in a lot with 100-200 different cars per cycle, something like Simonk said.

It can be cooler, having 2-3 different dealers with 100 cars each, like: Used Sports Cars, Classic Cars, Normal Used Cars... anything to make the car buying experience easier, keeping the classic GT feeling of buying your own used crap. :)

I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but they should go back to the way it was in GT2. If you wanted a used Toyota, you went to the toyota dealer. If you wanted a used Honda, you went to the Honda dealer, etc... That would be a good idea in the efforts of increasing the amount of used cars available at one time.

No, not quite like the one I came up with… :indiff:

Yeah that would be great. I miss that.

Sorry to quote myself.

But I really think it'd be much simpler in one dealership. They could limit the number of feelers you could have out based on your level/game progress.

Another thing that would be great if added is when you're looking at the eligible cars for an event you could hit a dealership button and it would take you to the dealer with a filter showing all cars currently available that qualify. :)

I'd like the idea to keep the used card dealership.

There would be not only stock used cars available but also some tuned cars.

Let's say people at PD, Kazunory's mom, GT Academy champions, Sony CEO,..., tune their cars to meet specific pp range / track / race. These cars could be made available to us by the ucd.

This could add value to the collecting part of the game.

Agreed.

And hey - maybe an online used dealership too. (Not like the one we have, please note that before continuing reading) Let's say you, Rod, buy a car and tune it to certain specs, to compete in a certain race. But after the race you don't feel the need to have it any longer. You sell it. And then it pops up in an online dealership where for example I myself can buy it. Just as you left it, same tunes etc.

Actually, I would like in a dealership to have 3 options: New/Used/Classics. The classic options was in Gran Turismo 4 and I sort of liked it, looking through what interesting cars that existed in each manufacture's past.

Sure! Such auction house is begging to be inplemented into GT6.

Will standards in GT6 now be able to be bought from the new dealership, which was premiums only in GT5? If true, then that solves my issue, as long as every car can be bought new like Forza does.

They should show off the damage model of premiums in a Used dealership, kinda like NFS: Porsche Unleashed did. You can fix them up and then sell as well.

Well they're not going to stick those standards in the new car dealership. That's their showcase for their best work.

I like the UCD. Every few races I can go and see if something interesting has popped up in there. Or buy some cheap thing just to get the paint chip lol.

I don't see any logical reason why only premium cars can be in the NCD. Stuffing all standards into the UCD is part of the reason why GT5 had such terrible game design in the first place. If the gameplay is going to suffer because PD is too embarrassed by standard cars, then they just need to drop them already. Hopefully, from what we've heard so far, this won't be the case with GT6.
