I just want to give all of you a heads up that I won't begin working on the third issue for at least 5 weeks since I'm engaged in a real life collaborative case at the moment. But keep sending articles in the meantime if you feel like doing so!

That's probably the time it takes for people to get the remaining articles in.

In the meantime, do you want to ask volunteer language editors to go over the submissions that you have by now?

Good luck with your real life projects! 👍

Since C-ZETA submitted his, I think I'll try my hand at something like this (I SHALL STALK YOU TO THE ENDS OF TIME, C-ZETA!!! HAHAHAHA :dopey:)……might work, might not. I still have no idea how to get it to look 'article' like. Any help?

Don't have to worry about it mate. Schwag does the arranging for you.

I read the article on the 370z and didn't quite understand what I was supposed to take away from it... is it an article on the actual 370z or the in-game 370z? If it is on the in-game version, you really couldn't talk about anything else other than rambling on about speed and horsepower and Clarkson-esque generalizations about its handling? I mean honestly you've devoted 2 paragraphs cautioning us that running it into a wall could possibly kill us - except not because it is a digital video game - and even if it were IRL couldn't any car potentially kill you by running it into a wall? Honestly it is one of the best handling cars in the 300hp coupe class. I really don't think running it into a wall is a big enough issue to devote 2 whole paragraphs on the matter. Also, stunt car? What?

Now for some details that correlate with the digital version of the car... after all, this is a game and people could be reading for a better understanding of the car, where it fits into the game, where and why it could/should be driven, and where it can be competitive:

How about reviewing PD's overall rendering of it - both exterior/interior and sound wise? I mean depth and details... not a rating graph. I wanna know if there are interesting details in the options package PD used, or are there any interesting glitches in its damage model... And how about comparing its interior view with other cars in its class? How about some comparisons in general to add credibility to the review? Couldn't you post some lap times from a couple of tracks and given the reader an idea of what kind of tracks its best at running? What about the tuning options? How much HP can you get out of it? Whats the max PP and what other cars could it compete against in its tuned PP range? What about any tuning suggetions? Tips? Tricks? Ummm... what races in A-spec/B-spec is it best at? Whats the MPG and is it good for enduros?

These are things the article could've covered. This is a lot of detail. This is a lot of soul that could've gone into that article and given it more life, I think. Also there were a lot of distracting grammar problems, much like the first issue. I'm not mad like I was with the whole McLaren F1 vs. Bugatti Veyron fiasco - but it was kind of a dull article with very little point to it. I think all I got out of it was... it's slow for a 300hp coupe, but handles well and walls are dangerous?

Also the article on drag racing was just unneeded really. Drag racing was never an intended feature in the game. The article could've been more insightful had it covered something relative to Gran Turismo like rally or Nascar. There's a huge nascar community in the GT fanbase, perhaps they'd likee a little more info on that rather than - Enzo is faster than Viper.

Now the reason I bring up the Drag Racing article is because it covers something that is a little Rock-Paper-Sissorish... what I mean by this is that ZR1 eats Supra, ACR eats ZR1, Enzo eats ACR, and Veyron eats Enzo... so on and so forth. It really is that simple, there is no complexity to it. People really don't understand that drag racing is a very technical motorsport and GT5 does very little to represent it - if at all. I mean GT5 would need an entirely different "mode" I guess you could call it to represent the sport properly. Quite frankly, I think it would be too technical for most fans of Gran Turismo which is why I think it was held back for the entire series... I mean look at the NHRA games; they've amounted to being sold for $2 a pop at any given game store that'll take them in. Did they even make a PS3 game?

Anyway... you always gotta take drag racing in GT5 with a grain salt because it wasn't intended or geared for it. It's something the users take up to organize themselves. IMO, the results are suspect at the very least and down right inaccurate sometimes. Though, I won't argue that its fun to whipe out casual ACR drivers with a well tuned ZR1.

With all that being said...

I really hope nobody is saving up the money to buy that Ferrari F1 car because of that article - considering it doesn't serve any purpose in the game and you can't even race it online or in any event! Unless its a special one-make event specifically designed for it. Don't really understand why it even deserved an article in the first place. Eh, maybe I'm just being picky now...

But other than that, good effort look forward to the next one. 👍

@DEATHSARTHE, I disagree

I like the way that the articles are written as though these are real life cars and they treat them like that in the article. I will start work on an article soon and do something similar and treat it like a real road trip and treat the car realistic. I will take inspiration from Top Gear magazine :)

Oh and the Ferrari F1 is excellant and definately worth the credits. It takes a while but with seasonal events, it is an easy buy. Plus, you just need to get friends who will race with you in it online and it is a dream

@DEATHSARTHE
Although I agree to some extent about more in-depth reviews about PDs modeling of the cars etc, but I also do believe we already meet these conditions fairly well.

And since you yourself devoted 2 whole paragraphs about complaining about writing 2 whole paragraphs about driving into walls I think you've evened it out, even if it wasn't really necessary.

what program do you actually use to make these magazines? I'm part of another fansite (not Gran Turismo....or Forza) and might be starting up a magazine for it.

Hey Schwadie, just checking whether you have an idea when you plan to start on #3 . I am in Australia right now (saw the V8 Bathurst race), but can do some editing on the side. Other than that, hope your real life projects go well! 👍

Sounds like a lot of fun!
I've become more eager to start working on #3 now that SpecII is out. I might get some time to work on it a couple of days next week.

Enjoy your vacation mate! :)

Great! :) Officially I am working abroad (gf lives down under), but will get some vacation in too :).

(And can't wait to D/L spec II when I get home)

Someone should do an article on Spec 2. And we could have a picture with the new features on the cover. Maybe the DLC cars parked on Eau Rouge at Spa?

Hey Schwadegan, I'm wondering when the next front page picture contest will begin? Sorry if you told it here already and I sound stupid now, but I'm too lazy to search through all these sites. (I only remember that there was a contest for the first issue.)
I took many shots already that maybe could be good as cover, most are concentrating on the car and having a neutral background, like the green LFA on the front page of #2.

By the way, do you know these "UK laws 70 mph" lobbies on Monaco? Is there any chance to make it into the magazine if I write an article about cruising on Monaco in expensive super cars? It's the thing I'm enjoying mostly in GT5 at the moment, and I'd love to be part of this project. My English isn't the very best though, I could maybe need some help by somebody reading my text after writing it and who can correct the grammar mistakes... there were plenty of them in the last issue I think.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading both issues of GTlife (printed in full size of course :sly: ), keep up the great project please!

Any update on when the issue is coming? I remember you saying it would be a 2-3 month between issues, but come on bro! :D You've been making us wait forever! :(

Thanks! That photothread is still around, do a search and you'll find it :)
And I appreciate all the articles you people write.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to keep it that way I have to prioritize most other things over this :guilty:
All I can say is that I've got even more inspired since the release of specII.👍

Great issue:tup:

Thank you!

I think the magazine is following the tradition of GT, by taking ages to release :sly:
I really do hope it makes it out before DLC #2 and 2011. 👍

Bumperoni :)

Yeah, it would be time for a 3rd issue I guess *pokes Lenny with a stick*... ;)

In the meantime, you people should keep the articles coming!

You mean 2012?

Seriously, it'd be time for an update... or at least a few articles. By the way, I'm currently writing on my own one about my first GT5 experience, as a tribute to one year Gran Turismo 5.

Anyway, take the time you need Schwadegan, if the next issue will be great, the time it takes is excused I think. :)

I think number three will be an early Christmas gift lads :dopey:
