NO REAR CLIPPING!! :P
Even among friends. LOL
And even if you're chasing "the bounty".
Just saying. :sly:
The 'pit maneuver' is this week's pet peeve of mine.
(Did you guys find that out somehow? :odd:)

In all seriousness.... Just a note:
I have been led to understand that if you got this BMW out of the OCD a few weeks ago, it should not need "engine break-in"...
Can anyone confirm or deny this??

I have two different '73 2002 Turbos in my garage, both were 0/0/0 and they have different HP, TQ and PP numbers both before and after oil change... Don't remember the exact figures off hand, but it was in the neighborhood of 10 HP I believe. I obviously chose the one with the higher values... :sly:

This definitely confirms the no engine break-in needed for the one purchased in the OCD a few weeks back!

You probably got the lower one as a prize car ticket, which does need engine break-in... and the higher from the OCD, which does not.

You get this car as a prize car from winning the Aspec Extreme series DTC Championship. FYI

The one with lower figures was definitely an older acquisition, the first standard BMW car in my garage.

Don't make me drive to Anderson and violate your triplets!

That's an empty threat. Nobody in their right mind would voluntarily come to Anderson, not even for revenge.

I can confirm that cars bought from the OCD do not need broken in, even when they're at 0 miles.

I try to avoid it at all cost...

Nothing here but a casino, a crappy race track and a bunch of empty General Motors factories. (Not that New Castle is much better!) :dopey:

We have an equal share of crappy race tracks and empty factories, however we have a prison instead of a casino... Close enough in my opinion. Oh, and less riff raff.

ha ha - I hadn't realized before that you guys lived such an easy distance from each other.

The area I live in, in Pennsylvania... we have empty factories, some prisons and a casino! Bonus! :ouch:

That said, it's beautiful here in the summer months... but the winter, not so much. :grumpy:

I only know of the karting track down there, and I think it's a rather nice facility. Actually, once it gets warm I think Owens and I need to make a trip down there to meet up with you and go do some karting. 👍

Yeah, NCemtB and I are only 30 minutes from each other and Owens is only about 90 minutes north west of me. We're all cozy neighbors. :)

just sent friend request. breaking in my 2002 on indy endurance right now.
would like to be included for this race if you have space

We have a pavement oval (Mt. Lawn Speedway) just outside of town that runs late models, thunder cars and 4 cylinders... The late models are nothing like the Sunoco/CRA Late Models that you posted the video of in the ORCA thread. It's more redneck than Anderson by a long ways.

The kart track on the other hand, is a world class facility that hosts all the major touring series like Stars of Karting, WKA, etc...

Just out of curiosity, what kind of times are you guys getting in Nurburgring F in this car? I've never raced with comfort soft tires before so I am learning how to use them

I forgot about Mt. Lawn, I went there a couple times with Sunoco/CRA. Strange track, IIRC the final turn is greater than 90 degrees which makes for a very odd "oval". And no walls around the track except for the front stretch.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up... It's pretty lame.

Alright, thanks for adding me VCRC. I got my color figured out. Its red (bmw of course) called like karmisgon or something like that. Its rolling on stock rims and just detuned it to stock numbers.

When you say "detuned", you haven't any engine upgrades or weight reductions, right? Just want to make sure because those will keep it out of the tuning: prohibited restriction.
In other words, you can't just detune it to the stock hp/kg.

Tuning Prohibited Explained:

Best thing to do to check, is take it into your lounge, set the "tuning: prohibited" restriction, and then see if the car gets in. If it doesn't, either you've forgotten to take something off, OR, you have something that can't be taken off, OR you have ballast added or such.

Just want to make sure everyone checks the car before practicing, and especially before trying to get into the track for the race. That's the worst time to be searching to figure out what isn't default. :ill: (I know, it's happened to me!!)

RE: Lap Times

Nurb gp/f ... We did some practice races... but now I'm confusing those times with the Mercedes times because we did that on the same track. LOL

RE: Comfort Tires

Definitely at least test out the tracks with some practice with the comfort tires if you haven't spent much time on comfort tires.
Most specifically Deep Forest Reverse & Laguna Seca could lead to unwanted off-road excursions if you're not prepared for the car slipping in the hinky sections & curbs.

But really all that's required is a bit more attention, and slower in for faster out. Misjudged & missed brake points are more harshly punished in comfort tires.

But that's why I like them!!
Contrary to what would seem... it actually makes for closer racing among varying experienced racers.
It might seem counter intuitive.
But I think part of that is that it slows down the most eager beavers, and really rewards skillful caution. 👍
You simply cannot go fast from sloppy corner to sloppy corner at this power level on comfort tires. :)

But it really rewards the efforts to keep the wheels in line & on the gray bits. Just ask BrandonW77:

I like some of my cars stock and my 2002 had not weight and engine mods. Only a racing air filer and sports manifold. When I say detuned I removed two of the parts I had added.

EDIT- basically I'm saying I didn't just use the weight or horsepower limiter to produce stock figures.

If you have any removable parts you just remove them and you'll be fine. It's the non-removable modifications like weight reduction, chassis reinforcement and engine upgrades that disqualify the car from entering a Spec Event. Engine limiter is allowed in a "No Tuning" room but of course you'll want it at 100%.

Sorry Punch I have yet to drive the car for any laptimes:ouch:

Gonna be in the lounge testing at the three tracks if anyone wants to join.

^tnx for practice.
For reference: After few laps I did just under 1:52 @laguna and mid-2:40 @GP/F.

1'52! I did 2'00!! I will make sure not to be in your way tomorrow. LOL

Make sure you take a defensive line if he's behind you heading into the turn before the hill leading up to the corkscrew. 👍
(I'm betting that's where he's finding some time!! Make him take an inconvenient line!!! LOL)
