For folks familiar with the VCRC from GT5 and GT6 we will be aiming to replicate the spirit of that club in AC. For those who missed out on those days it was all about old cars raced for fun. Clean driving and courteous behavior.
We have a server for racing: Server name is Vintage_Car_Race_Club.
Look for us and drop in for some practice or to race.
We have also started a public group on Steam, group page here. Feel free to join and helps us grow and create a community.

managed to get on for about half an hour yesterday, looking forward to this. It will be my first on-line race in AC. Hopefully it will be a clean race as it's 🤬 hard enough keeping the '49 on the hard stuff as it is. Very little room for error here...:nervous:

btw, what is the procedure for damage during the race? can we teleport to the pits for repair and continue from there (with the appropriate time penalties for repairs of course).

Not sure if teleporting will get you into a pitstop or not, but if you teleport your car gets fixed you just lose the lap.

Race day! I should be there for both races. server will be reset to race conditions 1/2 hour before scheduled time (1/2 hour practice-> 15m Qual->23 lap race.)
I've managed a 2:18.xxx lap and think I can turn 2:19.xx consistently. It is hard to push the car because the track is so unforgiving. Note: if you miss your braking point aim for the pasture and not the fence.:D
Looking forward to the race(s)

IDK about online, but offline, when I've been badly damaged, I hit ESC on my keyboard and select Return to Pits from the menu and I get teleported to the pits. The race continues, I get everything repaired and can then rejoin the race, but there is a calculated amount of time according to the extent of repairs needed and that seems to determine how far behind you are when rejoining the race. Hope this is the same for online too. I guess I'll know in about 2hrs time.

server reset for race! 30 minutes practice, 15 qualify then race!
Use password "raceclean"

Server back in practice mode.

FWIW. If you crash and break your suspension. Just teleport back to the pits. You lose the lap you were on, but its much better than trying to drive this beast with a broken suspension.:ouch::lol:

That is what I was doing. Had three silly little crashes without too much damage and like you say you lose the lap you are on. Unrelated but I had 3 horrible pauses tonight, the last one lasted almost a full second. Fortunately none of them caused disaster... I'm more than capable of taking care of that without help thankyou

Thanks for setting it up was fun. It was also by far the longest race on done on AC. I didn't have any issue, it ran very smoothly for me.

Good Friday all. Yesterdays races went ok, fun was had. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Hopefully it was the start to something that will grow.

A couple of folks said that Wednesdays worked while Thursdays didn't so I'm changing the days to Tuesday (practice) and Wednesday (race). Hopefully that won't create more problems than it solves.

I was going to stick with the Lotus 49 for a few weeks. This week we will use Kunos's Monza 66 as the track and go to Rainmakers conversion of Solitude 64 the following week.

I also use my server for a couple other not so serious events during the week, you can find the threads here in this forum.

Hope to see you at Monza.

Sorry for leaving so abruptly, but my grandson just wasn't going to let me race. He got a hold of the wheel twice causing me to miss some turns. Was still fun and thanks for hosting.

Server is reset for race:
60 min Practice
15 min Qual
30 lap race
password:raceclean
Qual starts at ~1930 GMT (230 EST)

Only three racers this week. It was my 1st time out and I thought the race was Thursday. I expected to just practice today but decided to race and then missed the start typing into chat... DOH!

I'll keep an eye on the forum and hope to race next week.

Restarting race in 30 min. no password.

New info in first post, including a link to our Steam group. Server is set up to cycle 15 min Practice, 10 min Qualify, and 10 lap race. Lotus 49 @monza' 66. I will leave it here for a couple of days.

Having trouble with the car? I set the Diff to 0, 20, 0 and it made a huge difference. I get a little off throttle oversteer, and a little understeer on throttle. This makes turn-in much easier and controllable. I don't think it makes me much faster, but puts me more in control of the car. Hope folks show up tonight. I should be on around 8:00 EST.

So after another password protected race with little turnout, I've decided to go without a password and to cycle the server with shorter practice, qualifying, and races. There were alot of people on tonight.:)
Unfortunately there were some wreckers.
So blacklistmode=2.:( with patience the riffraff will be weeded out.
I also started a group on Steam (Vintage Car Race Club)
Feel free to join, it has a nice calendar tool for scheduled events if demand grows enough for it. Anyways I am going to leave the server as it is until Monday, when I'll run the Mini's. After that its back to the Lotus 49 @ Solitude.
See you on the track.

Too bad about the wreckers... Hopefully people will understand this is a new club and be patient enough to put up with them until they can be booted and the club can get on with some fun, clean racing. I'd love to see this club succeed. The old Lotus 49 and Cobra are just so much fun to drive. AC seems to do vintage cars really well. It sounds like there is a mini mod available somewhere too. I'll have to go look for it -- sounds like it could be a blast!

I found the Solitude track and will be getting familiar. If I'm understanding you right, you're going to a bit shorter races? If so, that sounds great to me. Thanks for your work on putting this together!

I hope I can get AC working in time to race at Solitude 64. I spent all afternoon trying to fix it yesterday. For some reason it decided that it will no longer load my car -- just hangs there until I finally use control/alt/delete to shut it down with task manager. I've tried following AC & Steam's troubleshooting instructions and a Windows system restore but no go...

After a few hours of frustration, AC is finally up and running again -- for the time being anyway... Will there be a race at Solitude 64 this week?

I will have Mini's on the server for Monday (Mini Monday ) Then I will set the server back to the Lotus 49 at Solitude '64)10 minute Qualify followed by short race (3,4 laps?). If there is demand or interest we can schedule a longer race for Sunday.

Thanks CC! I usually get on for an hour or two around 3pm PST so maybe I'll see you at Solitude.

I have had so many issues getting AC to work that, hopefully, I'm good for awhile. I even had a throttle wire come loose starting a race at Monza (apologies to anyone who's race I ruined). Then I got disconnected in my second Monza attempt. I've had more things go wrong this weekend than in a normal year of sim racing.

Solitude's a fast, tough track but a great old school road course.
