Well, I'm sure its Monday somewhere. So the server (Vintage_Car_Race_Club) is running Rover_mini_s1 at Vallelunga club. 10 min qual. followed by 10 lap races. Should only take 22ish minutes to cycle through. I should be around in the evening (EST).
See you on the track.

Man running your Minis on Monday is killing me. Love driving that car.

Wish I could be there.

I tried this combination a couple of days ago, Lotus 49 and Rennstrecke and it's a fantastic drive. The high speed section is exhilarating and the twisty bits at the back are challenging. Not sure how good it'll be for racing but it sure is a fun combination to drive:tup:

Hopped on for some Mini Madness last night. It was just me and @kcheeb but we had a couple of good races.

Thanks for setting it up @CC570 👍

What time frame seems to be getting the most activity? I think we were on around 9:00 last night.

I think the euro-centric times are busiest. I had one race with J.P. (.151 sec after 10 laps) Wish I could have stuck around, but I am fighting the flu. Will try to get on once or twice today @ Solitude. The track has such a great flow to it. It isn't too hard to learn the couple places it can bite you.

I checked in around 7-7:30 and nobody was around. 9pm on a weeknight is too late for me (get up at 5:00am every morning for work).

Thanks, CC, for putting up a link for the track download. I had the right one anyway as it turns out but it's good to have a link to be sure.

With the Mini I think I may have had the wrong mod. When I went to join yesterday, the 'choose available cars' window was empty so I couldn't join.

Good luck with the flu... :( Hope to see you on track this week.

Last night, even though I was in my Step 1 Mini it hollered at me about being in the wrong car several times. I switched the Mini back to stock, then back to Step 1, and then it let me in. I started having Gran Turismo flashbacks............:nervous:

I'm not sure I understand this. You choose the car from the selections available in the lobby and if there's only one selection you should be able to just click it and go right in. You don't have to be in the car in your game to get into the lobby.

This is news to me. Obviously user error then. Normally I'm in the car and just click Join and it takes me to the track.

I see. Well if you click on the car in the list in the box on the right, then hit join, it doesn't matter what car you are in, it'll put you in the proper car and away you go. Of course you have to have that car in your garage as well.

I just walked in. I have to stuff some food down my gob and then I'll wander in and see who's around.

Albi is out, would be a nice match to the Lotus 49!

Thanks for that! It's here http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/albi-1967.5031/ Definitely not a technical track but a historic, wide one that could be good for racing (kind of like Monza '66).

It's been pretty quiet this week at Solitude when I've been on (usually around 18:00 - 20:00 GMT and 23:00 - 01:00 GMT). Hoping there will be some racing over the weekend. It's a great track!

I'd like to give the Minis a try on Monday (if that's still the plan) but can't get the cars to show up after installing them the same way as the other mod cars. I'm having the same trouble with the Shelby Cobra Competition and the replica car -- yet the street car works fine...

Another very cool old track is Longford 67. Very narrow, though, so maybe tough to race on.

.

When selecting a car, hover over the car with your mouse and a little icon will show up with a wrench in it. Click that wrench. When you get to the next page, up at the top you'll see the same wrench icon. Click that to select different versions of the same car.

Thanks Wiz! It woiks!

The stage 2 mini seemed to have kind of weird FF effects but maybe I need to drive it a bit more than 1 lap at Barbagello. looking forward to playing with the other two Cobras.

There are quite a few other cars that you can do that with as well, Kunos cars included.

I found step 2 to be a bit undeliverable. Touching the throttle = TORQUE STEEEEEEEEEEER right into the armco. :dunce:

Ah, now I have to go check for all the cars with different versions. A good problem to have though.

Brandon -- Maybe it was how I was using the throttle and not just a FF thing...

I've talked to others who felt the same. The stock Mini and Step 1 Mini are nice but Step 2 is a bit unruley. It's kinda like having a 5 year old kid with anger management issues and who can bench press 150 lbs, good luck keeping him under control! :nervous:

Yeah, Brandon, I just ran some laps in all the minis and the FF in step 2 still seems weird. I liked the step 1 car better but I'm sure a race in either would be fun.

Is anybody going to be racing Sunday in the L49 at Solitude? I'll be around all day - say 10am to 5pm PST (18:00 to 01:00 GMT). I'll check back here tomorrow.

Back when that Mini was new, FF's had massive torque steer, they hadn't quite figured that problem out yet. Take that problem and double the HP and it's going to drive funny. I think they got the physics right, it just feels weird because the modern FF's don't have that issue. It's an extra challenge:dopey:

Hey all, anyone interested in a longer race at solitude tomorrow? If so let me know when, I'll set it up.
CC

So 2:30 pm EST we will do 15 min qual. followed by 10 laps of racing. I will reset server at 2:00 pm with 1/2 hour practice then the race. OK?
