VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

ha, I was just about to post to see who's going to be around Sunday, late morning US East (afternoon Euro) time.
Say SUNDAY 10am US EST / 3pm GMT
I was thinking approx. 1 hour race, about 90 minutes for the event.

Abarth 500 ... at Bathurst.
(which some of my pals don't have even though come on guys, it's cheap!!!)

20 laps, heavy damage, 15 minutes qualifying, penalty off, tire wear very fast, slipstream weak, grip real, aids off, abs optional, am I forgetting something?
NO mandatory pit stops.
I don't think we'd have to enforce a mandatory pit. (Ie: I think it would be necessary - I think people will pit at least once willingly.)

Oh, and the time settings on the track... shoved down to the earliest time (I think 10:00), and the time change on like 5 or something like that.

SO WHO'S IN FOR THAT SUNDAY??

ALSO: DOES ANYONE know where there's a good GT6 track list with a list of tracks, lengths, and the different versions of the tracks? You know, with the different layouts & what they're called?
If someone's made that on the forum yet, I don't see it. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, as I'm still having trouble adjusting to the new forum.

I'm curious to see how the mandatory pitstop option works, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out. Or not, either way. I'm just curious about how all the new features work and haven't had time to test them yet. Proper qualifying and mandatory pit stops were two of the biggest things I hoped for and I'm rather shocked we got them. :D

There is that!
Welcome additional options for sure.
TO BE HONEST, I haven't tested out the proper qualifying thing yet. :nervous:
I guess I should've done that. :guilty:

I'm honestly not seeing a big use for the tire change enforcement in my race ideas. Maybe I'm just missing something with that though.

The reason I say that it won't be necessary to enforce a pit, is because I'm fairly certain that if someone somehow chooses not to pit, they will have near zero chance at winning, unless they drive very conservatively, AND the entire rest of the field drive like idiots & wind up in multiple crashes requiring several pit stops. :sly:

I don't see it as being necessary, just a nice option to have. I have held races in the past where a pitstop wouldn't have been necessary but I wanted to mandate one to bring in some strategy, so it's nice to have that option now for those situations. 👍

Any chance of it being 11 am on Sunday? :nervous: The qualifying feature works like a dream by the way. You can qualify "alone" where everyone is on track but you don't see them, or with everyone on track and visible. Brandon had some issues last night with the cars not reappearing in the race however, not sure how that happened.

Did you figure out why we couldn't see each other in those kart races last night?
I'm presuming it's because I had the room set to qualify/race alone but then turned off qualifying before we actually raced. Must of held on to the "race alone" part. I think if we had completed a race the next race would have worked ok...maybe.

Yes, everything's tuning prohibited with the stock tires, unless otherwise specified.

I guess we just don't do race-alone qualifying option, until that's sorted out or figured out or whatnot.

I've put tentative scheduling/ideas in Post #2, btw.

I put a list of "upcoming ideas" in the OP also, and I'm open to adding suggestions or having any discussions about it, of course.

Also, if anyone wants to run with an idea at another time slot & host or whatever, whether it's casual practice racing or just an alternate time event, that's fine too. I'm not jealous with that kind of thing. lol. I'll put it in post #2 for example, and whatever.

No, as long as you actually do qualifying before the race it all works fine and it's a great option because it allows everyone to get a clean lap. Just don't open a room with "qualifying/race alone" turned on and then turn it off before starting the race.

Assume I'm an old person baffled by newfangled technology.
Then give me a bullet list of instructions on how it needs to be done, in (chronological) order, to make sure there's not a problem. (Assuming you've tested this obviously. I hadn't realized that.)

Thanks.

I'll try to do some thorough testing and see if I can replicate the bug. For tomorrow I'd say open the room with qualifying on and "race alone" selected. As long as you don't alter those two settings while the room is open we should be fine. 👍

That's how we raced on Tuesday night, 16 of us at one point. All we did was change tracks and number of laps. All good 👍

:boggled: :nervous:

Okay is qualifying "race alone" and race setting something separate?
Like I need the label for the settings, if you know what I mean.
This is where I'm getting confused about where to look in the settings.

But I'm taking the idea here to be that if the room settings regarding these things are set when the room is initially set up, and not changed, then everything works fine?
And that the problems happen when those settings are changed AFTER the room has been created & going?

So, start as you mean to go on, and all is well?

In the race lobby you select Create New. That gives you a template to create your room with.

Room Mode:

Practice/Race
Race With Qualifier - we used this

Over to the right is Qualifier settings:

Qualifier Format:

Race Alone - we used this.
Race Together

So in qualifying you don't see anyone on track, no drafting, no impeding 👍

You can also set a qualifier time limit. Only down side to this is once the qualifier starts, noone else can get in. Until the race is over.

Don't change the Room Mode or Qualifier format and you should be good :)

Make sense?

EDIT: And you can save three templates if you do different formats 👍
