Vintage & Later Model 2 Speed Traffic-Honda s500 & s2000- wins - Cobrius & Aceboy127!

She asked me to do some laps to determine how long the race shall be.

Beat me at my own game? Well, ID-Racing might do it as he beat me a couple weeks ago in Honda civics. I need to practice this time as I had no idea how the civic handled before the race, which was hard to setup.

Shame you're missing the race, the S2000 and the S800 are brilliant to drive.:)

Well I did some laps before realizing that the date was already taken, although looking at franky... yeah, maybe I was still a little off pace, but I can't help it when the S2000 drifts like crazy, I had to add ballast to make it actually controllable

Never add ballast, just try tune it a bit. Since it's a PP race, a high power, high weight might be the better option if you can't keep the lighter version on track.

Well I can't drive it without lots of ballast, end of story :grumpy: Going with a lighter weight is like taking off your eyes with spoons - you don't really want to try it.

Well..judging from the first test of my first setup yesterday you have nothing to be worried about....Im WAY off pace. :scared:

I think Im with Carbonox on the weight thing. This car has serious balance problems! Minimizing the weight is not always a good idea.

EEEEEK... AOK in the s500... Let's hope AOK is not as good as with the s2000. LOL

AOK indeed did set a 1:25 lap time in practice yesterday. Though the typical times being reported & that I've seen are low 1:27s.
(NOTE: And it took a few laps for AOK to get that time - I wouldn't expect that time on cold tires, for example.)

I haven't had a chance to try AOK's car yet... But something tells me even with the same car, I won't get a 1:25... But I may improve over my own car time of 1:31.x :( Let's hope. (Though I will likely NOT be racing the s2000 myself.)

I believe AOK's normal method of tuning to PP, is to spend more points in weight rather than HP?
I know many people prefer to use up their points in HP rather than weight reduction.
It depends on what you're best with, and what strategy you're going for, I think.

Considering the length of the race, suiting your tuning options to your particular strategy as far as pitting for tire wear & avoiding damage, may be the way to go.

One would assume a lighter car would wear out tires less? But then more downforce would surely make for more tire wear?

I'm no expert so don't listen to me!

Especially since I actually had a dream last night that I we were doing this race... And instead of a 2-speed race, it turned into a 3-speed race, where there were the later models lapping the vintage models, and then the rest of the vintage models lapping me!! LOL :guilty: :ouch:

in a track like autumn ring i like to have a light car instead of a overpowered one. but its more important to have a good feeling with the car instead if tryin to beat the best time for me. if you like a wingless tailhappy car go with it

My car is in the paintshop right now. Going to be Matte Light Red.
The other day I was running 1.27's and a few 1.26's

welcome jammy!

Yeah, AOK's 1:25.9 I think was quite the hot lap.
Average good laps in the 1:27s seems to be quite normal.
Some are recommending lighter with downforce, possibly max downforce.
Definitely play around with how you want to use your PP... points in weight reduction, points for hp, and points for downforce.
It's probably a pretty personal thing.

Also, I'm convinced there's nicer lines through the track in these cars that I'm not necessarily using well. My guess is to get in the 1:26s or down to 1:25, you really have to savvy about using lots of the track in just the right places.

I still don't know what a good time is in the s500. I just know I haven't gotten down below 1:39! And I have this feeling that I'm way off pace. I certainly wouldn't expect to be the fastest, in any case - I am not usually very fast, comparatively. But I also hope I'm not 10 seconds off with my lap times. lol

can i put an s2000 engine on it?

Some tuning tips for you:
The s500 really works best when you neglect to do an oil change, and add at least 100kg of ballast & shift it all toward the front, then adjust the height on the suspension to put the rear as low as it will go, and the front as high as it will go (rather like a speed boat). And then use the LSD & move all those numbers as high as they will go!

(Note: This tuning advice will only "work" for AOK's car! LOL)

thank you! im sure this works!

:yuck:

Color: Tonic Blue Metallic

Also, any idea of good times in the s500 yet, I was just wandering how much faster the leader will be than me.

This actually does work.;) The rest is complete lies though.

I will be in my lounge definitely at least 1/2 to 1 hour before the arrival time, for some 11th hour practicing.

I've been wondering the same thing. If you can do better than 1:39, then you're likely going to beat me... unless you make some grave errors! (Or at the 11th hour I find various fractions about the track or come up with some magical tuning set-up number to adjust. lol)

(I'm secretly hoping all the others besides me will make gargantuan errors... because I worry that's the only way I'm even going to keep up!)

Did I just say that out loud?

Oh! I thought you meant you needed 11 hours of practicing!! :sly:

I might arrive a bit early..might need some 11th hour finetuning..and 11 hours of practice. And a wheel.
And Manual gearchanging.

haha! Yes, "11th hour" is an expression = "the last minute" or "right before the bell"... Not sure how these translate! haha. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eleventh_Hour
The eleventh hour is a colloquial expression meaning "a time which is nearly too late". The phrase originates in the book of Matthew of the Christian bible and references workmen being hired late in the day (Matt 20:6).

(I've been educated now - because I've used the expression for years, but never knew its origin was in the Christian Bible. The expression, "You learn something new every day." seems appropriate. ;) )

(I would rather the new something learned today was how to find a few seconds on Autumn Ring!)
