I dont mind the idea of racing in Tasmania. They used to be great races there so they should be now that ford has the performance to keep up with HOLDEN.

Im kind of glad that they arent going to China. I dont understand why we would have an Australasian championship in a cmpletely different country.

Thats why I said Australasia. I mean a country that is completely different. Newzealand still has Holdens and stuff but i dont have a clue what China has.

alex yoong is driving in the konica minolta v8supercars for three rounds....in a falcon. cant remember the team though, do you think he will do well....he was poor in f1 (but 100 times better than baumgartner), and did quite well in champcars....i think he will do allrigh, after he gets used to the car. pay drivers do need to have a bit of talent

Guys, I was just watching qualifing on Telstra Bigpong coverage and I heard crompo talk about Tega considering sequential boxes. If you dont want that happening, instead of winging about it when it does happen, E-mail them!

I've just fired off an E-mail saying I would rather they stick with the H-pattern.
I reckon all you mob should do the same. It might make a difference.

Here is where you do it.

I think that before the V8's go racing in china the local maket should be worked on first, my beef is this, why should a state like NSW, which is not home to any Team have 4 rounds there (I am including Bathurst here) Oran park has round and IMO would not be worthy of host a club day let alone a national event, where a venue such as Phillip Island gets left out because TEGA/AVESCO or whoever is money grabbing for an event in China

Give the fans here a go first before taking it elswhere

Well Bathurst is the most liked and sucessful track in Aussie. I don't know about the others. I'd rather just have the races in Aussie and NZ.

Well I'm amazed at how CPR has stepped up to the plate and is leading the drivers championship. They've really got their acts together.

I'm hoping that this week Greg Murphy can get a good qualifying position. Then go on to be high up or even win the round. Kmart has been struggling a little with their cars lately.

I wonder if HRT is going to keep up with their dismal attempts at racing.

Ofcourse. I'm hoping that Ambrose has an absolute **** weekend.

Well it's racing at Perth.

Kmart has been struggling a little with their cars lately.
Murphy is using the old car this weekend to try and get a decent result. It is the car that set the 2min6sec time at Bathurst last year. The newer car was apparently un-responsive to setup changes. They are both converted VX Commodores.

Here's afew pics I took of yesterday's V8 race at Barbagallo...

Looks like you had a good spot, right on the first corner, that would of been good at the very start of the race.

I sent 'em an email. I agree, if we can get enough people to do it they'll soon listen.

h-pattern all the way....this is touring cars, a form of motorsport based around road cars, and most road cars dont have sequencial gearboxes

exactly! good point. plus seqential is lazy...and yes blake, i know that i drive an auto...but thats not the point.

Some nice picks there Des:tup: quite unusual (this season) to see poor old sooky Mark Skaife in front, what happened to that red Lotus about half way back in that pick? It seems to be pointed in a different direction than the other cars

oh yeah, sequential gearboxes suck, there is SFA passing ATM in the series and now they want to make it so there is even less? What a crock

One last whinge, dont get me started on why i disagree with Channel 10 calling themselves "the home of motorsport", I cant find the racing in between all the ****ing ads! and thats not just V8's either...

G'day Clinton,
your'e right about Mark Skaife and his season so far, what made it worse for him in the final race is that he got busted for speeding in the pits and subsequently got a drive through penalty....absolutely NO excuse from a veteran professional 👎

About the Lotus's, LOL, them guys aren't one bit shy to rub panels, infact we're more careful ilinking than them racing  Lots of the cars went off heading onto the pit straights. :scared:

Alex Davidson blitzed Jim Richards in the Carerra Cup, unbelievable talent!!!

Come on man, Channle 10 provide damn good motorsport coverage, they are the best channel in Aus so give 'em a break. But I really can't help but laugh at the Commentators for MotoGP, too Aussie!

It's Stoner! (inside joke)

lol "Stoner's desperate, hes looking for it" (same inside joke) that was funny, all we did was laugh at the commentary the whole time. it was sad. and wat about Smrz and Ui. lol. i like moto gp, but its a laugh.

but anyway, i think channel 10 do a good job, i said in an earlier post the ads in the V8s annoy the crap outta me, but apart from that i think they do a good job. plus, where i am its the only damn motorsport station! (except maybe the rally which has been on channel 9 previously on a few occasions). but give channel 10 a break, they provide good racing (V8, F1, Champs) AND humour (moto gp).

Who is sick of seeing Craig Lowndes' car retire in a puff of smoke? FPR had three engine faileres at Barbagallo and they had three engine failures in the first two rounds of the year at Adelaide and Eastern Creek. Prodrive boss David Richards is sending an engine team to Australia to help FPR solve their engine dramas. The engine team is made up of engineers who have worked on Prodrive's engine program for the Ferrari 550s at Le Mans and the Ford Mondeos in the BTCC in 2000.

I don't know if anyone here reads Auto Action but an article on TEGAs proposed changes for the V8 Supercars was in AA a few weeks ago and since it hasn't been mentioned here I might quickly mention some of it for those who may not have read it.
From 2005: No front undertrays, fixed or minimal adjustment on rear wing, control brake rotor, control brake pad, restricted list of calipers (control calipers from 2006), live car to pit telemetry banned, control dash unit, reduction in the duplication of data collected, reduction in the number of channels of data available, sequential/H-pattern gearbox changes to be taken into consideration, control spec of internal gearbox components, minimum flywheel weight, control carbon clutch, control crown wheel and pinion, minimum driveshaft weight, minimum tailshaft weight and specified gauge of metal, as many engine components as practical and possible will have a minimum weight and specification and be specified as a control component, maximum valve lift, specified number and size of piston rings, restricted list of shock absorbers (control sealed shock absorber from 2006), team homologated stub axle available for use and sample logged with TEGA (control component from 2006), control aluminium alloy wheel, as many non-performance parts as possible to be control parts, control fuel tank, identical location of fuel tank, control on board jacks, control rattle guns and associated equipment.
Minimum engine block weight from 2007.

Yeah I heard about that on the V8's coverage a few weeks ago, I really don't like it. They're trying to make it to control spec and I think it takes some skill (of the engineers) from the sport. They're trying to make it too even and I think it won't be good for V8's.

Yeah definetly wont be good for the sport. Some of the changes are great like changing the wheels from mag to some other alloy to reduce costs but chaning things like control suspension and aero! WTF! It'll be like a porsche cup. If it aint broke......

V8supercars is most prolly the best tin top motorsport in the world. Why would anyone want to go changing it. If its for financial reasons, then go for it but stuff like control suspension etc is just stupid. Fire off some E-mails to Auto Action as well........

Nothing needs changing in this sport I think except changing components to save cost.

Excactly, they're turning it into the MG cup for cryoing out loud!

WTF!
Ambrose has been disqualified from the Queensland round after having suspect ECU wiring!

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/latestnews/newsdisplay.asp?Ind=M&gid=11963

This is all they have said. SBR are appealing the decision which will be held on thursday.....

Apparently SBR have gotten no advantage over this and it was deamed unintentional.....

If the appeal is not successful, this is a HUGE blow to Ambroses attack on the championship. My god, he is 4th now in the championship 134 points behind the leader Steven Richards!

I'm eagerly awaiting the result of this appeal. Especially if the stewards found that it was unintential and more importantly, no advantage to SBR.

My god, what a shock when I went to v8supercars.com and found ambrose to be 4th on the championshiop points.

I'm eagerly awaiting the result of this appeal.
Going by the form of past appeals (Dumbrell), they are as good as off the hook as far as i'm concerned, and so they should be. Being penalised that severley for an infringement that offered no performance advantage is ridiculious. Perhaps just the fine for the team is sufficent. It is the teams error after all, not the drivers.
Here is part of a press release from FPR from the same website:
CAT FPR Falcon driver Craig Lowndes was one of the round's early retirees, when on the 39th lap (out of 90) an engine failure once again sidelined the 30 year old triple Champion.
That has to make about six engine failures for Lowndes this year.

Here is more info regarding the SBR issue:
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/latestnews/newsdisplay.asp?Ind=M&gid=11976

But the decision can go against SBR. CAMS as well as AVESCO etc are about as consistant as a MotoGP 125cc race.
From the above article, it sounds as if it was a genuine mistake and the penalty seams much too harsh for the violation (wouldnt be suprized if there was more to it).

Yeah Lowndes has had a shocka with FPR and I wonder whats gonna happen to him next season. Bloody poms cant do anything right and have really screwed it up for him this season.....;)
