A lot of oversteer exiting T18 cost me some time down the long straight. Feeling more comfortable in sector 2, though.

I like to have a higher perspective too, so I scrounch down, recalibrate the view and then sit up straight. Helps me.
I've noticed you do sit a little low in VR. I'll have to try recalibrating it lower, then sitting up. Good idea

Only managed a handful of laps. I’ll have more time tomorrow. I did get some night driving in. That was amazing. :dopey:

In my current setup I use the VR headset all the time, it’s just that I don’t have it in VR mode. I’ll race the Beemer around Mt Panorama and will send my splits tomorrow.

Welcome Gordy.
Just copy paste the split table above into your post, edit list with your times in the right order, don't forget your name at the end.

This way everyone can see where they are at a glance, plus it save me work looking back through all the post for everyone's posted splits. 👍

Thanks. Last questions and I'll leave you alone.:P It looks like we're just posting the split times. Are we not submitting a final time? Can we post a replay?
In between upgrading my PS4 and all the other things a 65year old retired gentleman / grand dad (dranddad) has to do, I've been giving your question some thought.

Final times should be, so long as we all copy/paste the split table, keep it up to date each time we post a new split time. This gives us a final time which I can input into this.

Regarding Replays.

If you wish we can friend all members taking part, save replays then they will be seen by all via shared replay option on PS4.

Thats all my limited brain cells can come up with, maybe you guys have better ideas that would work.

Sounds good to me Philip. Hope you have the replay bug figured out.

Just had a quick run back up and running again, lost replays and pictures though, but I do still have my garage. Problems I was having only time will tell if they are all gone now I have A digital GTsport copy running off a SSD drive that I used to replace the old out of date HDD. :)

Little update.

It sending me a message about changing screen view any time in VR by holding the option button, not on mine :grumpy: I'll have to investigate

@Pigpen13, looks like something weird is going on with your times. Your splits have you slower than your total time, but maybe your total time is right and one of your splits is out?

I had some serious issues with the VR, during the tight corners the camera seemed to keep resetting itself, so I was getting confused about the orientation. My time here is a good bit slower than my non-VR time... hopefully it will be quicker for the next TT!

It's a very good possibility that I screwed something up. I will double check it tonight and make sure everything is correct.

I did the same Joe I pasted wrong times, but never mind it's all new and we can only do our best for now. Maybe we can come up with a better way of doing things.

Where this 1'38.398 come from I don't know, ha I see post #34 I must have pasted. when it should have been post #40

I've shared the replay I have which is the 1'37.397 T3 time
as I don't have the slower replay left in my Library.

Friending people would be fun. I’ll try looking y’all up in GT. If you don’t see a request from me then I am clearly incompetent. ‍♂️

I have past comment on my finding on VR before, in short, vr and gt is fine if you are looking for something that is close or closer to a simulator in a budget . Up close visual is not to bad but at any distance visual quality is poor .

If you have the funds then I would say buy it, if money is tight then think twice. I believe the only way for us to get more content from PD for VR is by using it, I'm sure they monitor traffic to see how the game is played in general and where they can improve so they make more money out of the game and us.

No body using VR means no gains for them equals no update for us equals waste of money using Vr head set.

So in general is VR worth it.
In short, yes it is worth it on the PS4 - if the price is right...I paid $172.00 USD for a new, first gen VR bundle with GT Sport. I believe all the VR units are going to work on the PS5 but you never know with Sony. Right now with Black Friday in a couple of weeks, I would be looking for an even better deal...:)

Oculus Rift is off the charts good but requires a large investment in money unless you own a top notch PC...

So in general is VR worth it. I saw an action on 11-11 which basically is van v2 vr set + camera + a disc with some probably crap vr games. Still tempting but i'd like your guys opinions on what i could expect.
I got this bundle on Amazon but when I purchased it was $229 ($290 now ) AND I had $75 of Amazon gift cards that I had no foreseeable use for, so I went for it, without having tried PSVR at all before buying. Figured I could return it if I changed my mind after trying it. I've had it for a month now, and have probably logged 3-4hrs on it, exclusively in GTS. That small amount of time doesn't reflect how cool I think it is, or how enjoyable or user-friendly it is...just that I have been prioritizing the WRS TT's higher lately. I think using it in GTS is awesome! My body is always tricked in the first 5-10min of using it, thinking it should be feeling forces from what my eyes are taking in, but that goes away, and I've had none of the nausea that some people report. You're locked to cockpit view in GTS VR Time Trial mode, but it's easily the best cockpit-view sim experience I've ever had. Just the enhanced visibility you get with small moves of your head (that you're probably already doing in pancake mode ) makes it much better than regular/pancake cockpit view.

Whether it's worth it to YOU, I can't say, but certainly it would be a whole lot more useful if you could use it in online races or against more than just 1 AI for a short 2 lap race. GTS VR Race is the other mode of operation, and it basically is the same as VR TT, but oh there's 1 AI controlled car that you "race" for 2 laps...but the AI in this mode seem even slower than other GTS AI modes. (How is that possible, I can hear you thinking...)

I've observed that I'm consistently slower in VR TT mode than in pancake TT mode, which I can't find the reason for yet, but haven't tried too hard. Also observed that cars seem easier to power out of slower corners in VR TT mode than pancake mode, but can't figure out whether that's due to a different physics model or what. No one else here has corroborated that idea though.

You saying that Larry, my son wanted a game pc , £1500.00 budget so I built him one, he then brought octopus gift, I've seen him use it once as there is a lack of games he has any interest in on the market. Strange way to go about it I thought, but hay it's his money.

Lucas, I would say different physics and all your points are spot on. What people fail to grasp is this is just a game at a fraction of the cost. If one wants vr to blow your mind you better have some big pockets with a few thousand to spend.

I enjoy the VR that I do, it's plugged in all the time, it's a challenge getting to grips with how different the same track layout is sometime this week's tt for one.

I do hope that in some way it's seen we are prepared to give vr a go and we encourage them to dribble some updates now and then. There's only so many Nissan and Peugeot one needs in ones garage.

I'm tempted to try this out simply because I'm a tech junkie. @Gravitron can you use PSVR for Time Trials (WRS style) or is it restricted to just those AI 'battles'?

Jerome
Not officially for WRS, but that's what we're doing in this thread...unofficial VR TT runs using the current WRS combo. The replays are branded as VR TT, so you can tell the difference between a normal Arcade Mode TT replay and a VR TT replay. Like I said, we're all more than 1sec slower per lap in VR mode, so it's not yet reached the level of being usable/acceptable mixed in with others running normal TT mode.

Sorry if that sounded a little off or pointed at individuals it wasn't ment too. I would go with lucas, buy it and have fun if money is not an issue with anyone, it is what it is. I have fun with so too dose lucas by the sounds of things.

Hope that helps

Nah you're good Philip, you're not off or pointing at individuals, in my view. I do enjoy it a lot, and will be trying to submit a lap here for every WRS TT I can participate in regularly...a few laps in VR for this thread and a more serious effort for the regular TT's, as I'm still not where I should be for WRS handicap and am at risk for being called a sandbagger stealing D2 podiums.

Speaking of which, I'll have to withdraw my Bathurst VR lap here, since I didn't get a chance to redo it.
I lightly tapped the wall going down the mountain, so I'll probably redo it, but just to give an idea where I'm at.

Don't you dare withdraw anything lucas this is just a bit of fun, side order if you will. We all know the standards of WRS TT and the little tap on this track I would not give a second thought to, I'm lucky not to have scrapped all the paint work offboth sides.

I couldn't see the bloody track half the time, but I got very familiar with the view of the sky.

Looking forward to the next TT in VR

Thats cool with me, I think it'd be fun to mess around with. I'll put it on the B-Day list. Maybe one day we could race 'for real' with it.

Race online would be fantastic, doubt the server would handle more than about 4 but that would be good. Up close racing the AI you don't notice the poor quality, maybe that's a little harsh it's not that bad visually,. Up close and I mean you can get up close to ther other car, so much so you can see when he picks his nose.

I did share play with vr if I remember right you can see what I see but you can't take control in VR like normal share play.

My two cents: I really enjoy my VR. GT is a blast. I love showing my friends and family how it works. I do hope we get some updates. For me it was money well spent. I have a 5 year old daughter that uses it more then I do. The free download games keep her busy. Something that still trips me out, run the shifter kart. After a lap or two, look down. It’s trippy to “virtually” see your legs and feet.
