I can see the appeal to owning an estate and of course the practicality. But then I don't really want the ability to easily haul stuff around, otherwise I'll get people asking favours all the time

I have actually looked into estates and whilst there is more choice, they cost a lot more and are still usually pretty low spec models too (or atleast smaller engines) . Still, I can't help but want a saloon with a nice spoiler on the back :D

Not as desperate to get one for now though as my 460 is doing fine, well apart from its developed cold start problems but I'll be looking into that today.

dear VOLVO fellas . . . :D

check out my gallery you're gonna like it . . . and also "the GT4 Volvo 240 GLT drift movement" . . . it's cool and we still need more ppl who put some pictures up . . . :sly: see my signature for links . . .

please feel free to vote for my 240GLT picture in the Week 37 Drift picture Competition :D

thanks . . cool club! VOLVOs ROCK!!!

Hehe yeah I noticed the link in your sig before, looks pretty cool I'll have to try giving it a go some time. :)

On another note I noticed this interesting Volvo 740 on autotrader which is very tempting, but just not practical for me:

1998 E Reg VOLVO 740 GL
4 Doors, Automatic, Saloon, Petrol, 9,000 miles, Red. THIS IS A VERY RARE CAR WHICH IS AS NEW IT REALLY HAS GOT 9 K MILES AND EVEN STILL SMELLS AS NEW ITS BEEN IN A MUSEUM ALL ITS LIFE SO IS STILL PERFECT CALL FOR INFO WE ARE VOLVO SPECALISTS £6,000 no VAT.

Now I assume 1998 is a mistake as its E-Reg but you never know, it could have been registered late. Its nearly my ideal 740 but its somehow a GL according to the ad and its an automatic. Give me a manual turbo converted to unleaded and they'd have a deal ;)

Even so £6000 is a lot for a 19 year old car even if it has done 9000miles and been sat in a museum (although I can't say I know of any museums that go for 740s in the UK atleast...). Its also 200miles away from me :( I also have doubts as to whether the bodykit is original. If it isn't then it certainly isn't worth 6 grand. Regardless it would be a waste driving it to work everyday, getting it filthy and putting on tonnes of miles on it.

I would love to be a part of the Volvo Fan Club. I've grown up with Volvos all my life and I now have a '95 850 wagon myself (if your gonna get a Volvo you gotta get the wagon :P ). It has 147k miles on it and it still runs like new. And holy crap do they ever handle well, essecially for a wagon.

im a volvo fan lol saved my life once :D volvo 440 1.8 in burgandy red :D

then it was wrote off after driving down from scotland with the rear end in bits :) they were the days

Pics of a P1800 rally car we have in at work at the moment - the owner loves volvos and has one of the best P1800ES in the country.

(Sorry for the quality)

 nice car, like the "No she isn't"

Looks like a really nice 2 series PuTTe_TuTTe, saw those alloys on a 740 once thought they were great :)

hehehe glad you like it.

The piston rings are now changed on her and it's gotta be taken around the roads for a few miles to get everything nice and settled - not much time though since it's going on a rally this weekend!

well volvofans.. here is my baby:

bought it this summer. It's a '81 244 GLT (136hp/190nm), it's 100% rust free! wich is not common here in sweden after 25 years! it's got brand new sport suspension (Sachs) and springs (20mm lower).

I've loved the R's for quit some time. Now I'm the proud parent of an '07 S60R.:)
While car shopping found EVOLVE:bowdown:, and got the chance to open the hood and sit in the 507hp wide body C30 that was at SEMA. It was for sale to the highest bidder above $225,000 USD. Oh, and don't let it idle for over 1.5 minutes.
Is this club still open to new members?
Is this club still active?

Bad news everyone, a Volvo 240 was driven into a building last week. :(

The poor car.

So the wife and I are looking at getting rid of our 2005 focus wagon in a year and a half, and upgrading to a 3 or 4 year off-lease Volvo XC70....any suggestions ? Warnings ?

I bought a 940 GLE recently, does that count?

(edit: as part of a fanclub, not in response to TTJ)

I has a Volvo!

It's a 95-96 850 SE estate with the (and I'm told, quite rare in Austrtalia as they didn't sell the option here) sports suspention pack that not only gives it a rear spoiler, but colour co ordinated bumpers as well.

I have to say that after learning to drive on this, and then driving a Hyundai elantra, the Volvo (dare I say it) is an absolute joy to drive. The engine noise is something to behold as well (but you HAVE to have the manual not to get that monotone drone). It's getting on these days, with a bit of rust showing up, and a few problems in other areas, but I'm happy as my parents are giving it to me and it trumps most other things that people drive to school.
