VW GOLF Vision GT

Not sure if anyone has put forth thought of these things.. But they're clearly modern versions of history.

The Mercedes VGT is of the 1930's Silver Arrows. BMW sings to the successful 1970's racing effort. VW has a ton of history too, not of motorsport or pushing tech... maybe a super-modern karmann ghia? Nothing over the top needed. But I just thought i'd point it out.

It seems to have similarities to the Golf vision GTI that's already been revealed but seems lower, sleeker and sportier.

Could it be a Scirocco Vision GTI instead?

by "pissed" as you said...
i think you mean more something like "mad" or "evil", right?

Btw, i got a question.

does it really have to be a Golf?
i could think of something similar to the VW W12 Nardo

Pissed as in angry.

And for the record (this goes for all VWs):

GTI =/= GOLF

I hope it's actually more of a Golf GTI. I love the BMW because it seems more real than the Merc VGT. Judging by the amount of BMW VGT lobbies it is also way more popular than the Merc.
I think someone mentioned this already, but I'd really like to see some of these cars able to race competitively against each other. Maybe mods would be required on one or another, but whatever. It would be great if the VW, BMW, and a few other of these Vision GTs could fight each other out on the track.

That would make sense, and it'd actually give GT6 a legitimate shot at having a field full of unique cars that could all race competitively (bar using the myriad SuperGT's). Of course, it'd require limits being put on the manufacturers, and I'm sure they'd prefer getting free reign on their creations.

Personally, they're still nothing more than novel additions, but if they could all compete against each other (and were being released at a clip even somewhat close to what was originally bandied about), I'd be more interested. The BMW VGT being more firmly planted in the realm of the real world has definitely made it more interesting to me from a design stand-point than what's come before...

"Unveiling the rim."

That's awesome, I'm more excited for this VGT than I was for either of the other ones!

By come before, you mean the Mercedes V-GT I assume. Funny thing, the former is actually going to be built, albeit off the SLS chassis in VERY limited numbers. So how (un)realistic are any of these Vision cars, so far? It will be interesting to see what or if comes from these.

Has a GTI always been FWD? VW's R Line often AWD but I've heard GTI models had some exceptions in drivetrain choice. Would the VGT be an FF or 4WD? Or maybe a Rear/Midship engine, Front wheel drive? LOL.

As was pointed out earlier in the thread, the Merc VGT "actually" being built appears to be an unfulfilled pipedream, and not something that Mercedes were ever actually going to do, but a coach builder (who may well have been staring at legal issues for ripping off someone elses design) that wanted to charge nearly $2,000,000 for a re-bodied SLS GT. Pesonally I think it's about as likely as a Devel Sixteen :D

Because the basic shape of the BMW VGT is pure 2 series, all it really needs is a body kit, and to be honest I'd be surprised if people aren't already working on one that mimics the VGT already - infact the BMW M2 seen testing appears to already add some of the elements (wider fenders).

The traditional/original GTI's were all FWD, right up to the MK7. The R32 was AWD & then they unveiled this in 2014.

To be honest, 'Vision GTI' was probably just done as a play or pun (kind of) on the name Vision GT, as it lets them both potentially add in design cues from past GTI models (hoping for a golf ball gearknob and plaid seats if theres an interior!) as well as allow for brand recognition, since VW is the first manufacturer people associate with the GTI tag.

But, as many people have said: GTI =/= Golf. Mercedes and BMW decided to design their cars as modern twists on classic models, yet that doesn't mean every manufacturer will. Subaru and Tesla's offerings - judging from the early drafts at least - look nothing like past models. Nor does Toyota's or Peugeot's. And who knows what the hell Daihatsu's is going to be.

It might be built, and not by Mercedes. Considering it's measurements don't line up with an SLS, it's not going to look quite like the car in the game, either.

On the plus side, they shouldn't have a problem recreating the interior

It looks to be rendered in 3D, not a photoshop render. the shading on the plastics/etc looks too clean.

Not like it can't be made on Photoshop, it just looks 3d because everything seem really defined by strict lines.

I swear if there's not an interior, I'm just gonna laugh.

Gonna place my bet so not only will I join you in laughter, but I'm making money off false expectations.
