Wallbanger's 2nd Annual FF Summer Shootout

Ease into the brakes a little early, release brakes as your turning in, then get back on the power as the car swings around and let the front pull you through. Remember these are tail draggers so as long as the front wheels are pointed where you want to go the rest will follow.

Different approach, I slam on the brakes, usually resulting in the rear stepping out and the front pointing where I want, and then get back on the power as soon as I can. Much prefer rallying with FFs than other drivetrains incidentally due to the tamer rear. :P

I'm getting it. Just hit a sub 2min.

Who else do I need to test for? Who should I send a FR to?

All the Tuners are listed in the second post. Send them FRs if you can to help expedite testing for you. Oh and my "Pocket Monster Type R" is extremely loose on gravel expect it to be all over the place and don't feel bad if you don't get a great time with it on Toscana. On Laguna Sea though it should be a right beast that devours the track.:D
Also I'm hosting Jkinealy's two entries as well for testing.👍👍

To everyone adding me as testers for my cars. PLEASE read the bit in my signature to make sure you get the right account. (ZELE_Replica is not my main account) 👍 Thanks

TUNER NOTES -
My first tune, and I'd like to thank krenkme, and Clueless Tunes for putting up with all my questions during the building. I know nothing about transmission, and krenkme said he couldn't build me one, because it would be cheating. But the 5 speed is very good for this car (it does max out at Laguna :grumpy: ) Hope you like it :nevous:

TUNER NOTES -
Well I was unsure that I was entering in the class A for Wallbanger's 2nd Annual FF Summer Shootout but krenkme asked if I could. So I did what any Clueless fan would do. I grabed a Panda :dopey:

-Close-ratio Trans. again... Some day I'll figure it out.

Note to XDesp. and the testers-

krenkme is hosting my cars, so no need to send me a PM (I rarely use that account anyways) Thank you.

Another fiat 500? It is on! XD please see if I have a chance. I would love to send you pics. The only way to do that is if you know how to move pics from the iPhone to the ps3.

Okay we have just under 18 hours left for tuners to sign up.
That also means there is around a day and a half left for those tuners who are signed up to submit their tunes.
Lets stick to the deadlines here guys. I know some of you had limited time during the week but if you really want to be a part of this event then you'll need to make time now in your gaming schedule to get those tunes done and posted.

From what I can tell, I won't be able to get any testing done today so the fastest cars I have right now will most likely be my final entries (unless I have time and I end up buying a Kusabi for Class B or something ). I will have them up by tomorrow, some point after 16:00 GMT probably. Possibly a lot later depending on how the whole day goes. But I feel sure I'll have them up.

Also my 7777th post. LUCKKKY :embarrassed:

Alright, I'll be dropping out of class A, I think. Not enough time for two cars, given that one is already such a damn problem child.

I'll post the tune for class B sometime later today. 👍

What if Audi made an Allroad based not on the A6 but the A2? Would it look a bit like this? Well, no, probably not, but maybe.

Tuned exclusively at Laguna Seca it still doesn't quite do what I want it to do as well as I want it to do it, but I still haven't figured out FFs so I hope the testers will give me some useful criticism and not just blow smoke up....where it doesn't belong. :embarrassed: I did make some compromises as we are running on tarmac and dirt with the same tune but I appreciate good feedback all the same. I am particularly interested in how well the transmission does as this is the first time I have let a custom trans stand instead of defaulting to a close ratio box.

It isn't too bad at LS, running in the low 44s. I gave it a quick whirl around Toscana before oil changing and sharing. It is definitely a bouncy ride and quite twitchy but once you get used to how it behaves it is passable. Diving into corners is probably not a good strategy on dirt with this little box, braking earlier tended to be faster for me but I am useless on dirt.

I will need to go through the list of drivers tonight for folks I don't have added yet.

Testing, testing, 1 2.

Bless my wife. This is an awesome fathers day. She's keeping everyone else away and bringing me everything I desire.

Four cars down, on Toscana. Now that I know the track the rest should go faster. Loading the cars takes the most time. I love where I live but my internet connection sucks.

I'm keeping track of the best three times for each car and notes on my thoughts on its handling.

Test Results
Class B
Group 1
Grip set to real DS3 set to 4 abs 1 all other aids off

XDesperado67//XDesperado67 Honda CR-Z '10, "Katana"
Laguna Seca 1:43.175
Toscana 1:57.768
Driver choice : 1
Notes:
I’m partial to the CR-Z and tuned one along with my entry. I like how fluid and polished the Honda feels even before its tuned. XD did a good job tuning it and I only have one issue with the CRZ. It has what I call the honda push that most if not all the ff Hondas exhibit in GT5. It slips a little on corner entry before grabing hold thru the corner. Not sure but maybe the camber and toe settings can remedy this. Great car though and fastest of the group for me.

krenkme//krenkme Toyota Vitz RS Turbo '02, "Phyllobates Terribilis"
Laguna Seca 1:43.924
Toscana 1:58.399
Driver choice : 2
Notes:
The Vitz gets the job done with a workman like manner. The motor has a heavy flywheel effect and the chassis is a little reluctant to turn-in. This is how the car feels before the tune and Krenkme has done an excellent job here. The car is better than stock in everyway and that unavoidable heavy flywheel keeps the car chugging along offroad. Gearing brakes suspension are all good offroad and on. All this still can’t make it a car I’ll reach for in my garage but that is the game developers fault for making the Vitz “workman like” for me.

C-ZETA//V16T91 Mazda Demio
Laguna Seca 1:45.060
Toscana 1:58.941
Driver choice : 3
Notes:
Like the Vitz the Demio lacks turn-in. It turns but feels a little forced to do so. The tune does a good job getting the most out of the cornering though. The motor is a more willing revver compared to the Vitz. Only two issues for me the gearing was really tall and the stopping distances were long. I was able to drive it fast offroad.
Great job overall.

NEWDRIVER2//OTS_NEWDRIVER2 Audi A2 1.4 '02
Laguna Seca 1:46.786
Toscana 2:00.257
Driver choice : 5
Notes:
The little Audi still has rally roots in its dna. The car stayed tight to the corners and was very easy to pilot offroad. The gearing was too closely spaced for me and the suspension was good and smooth until the speeds were higher then it was a little soft. At Toscana the car felt faster than it was the engine makes noise but the acceleration just doesn’t match. The A2 is just off the pace of the faster cars because the game developers made it that way. Nice job with the tune it was fun to drive offroad.

Jackthalad//CHRYSTALBUDS Honda, Ballade Sports CR-X 1.5Si '83
Laguna Seca 1:44.845
Toscana 2:01.241
Driver choice : 4
Notes:
I wish the CR-X was faster because this is a fun car to drive at Laguna Seca. Handling and gearing were spot on for me. The skinny tire modeling hurts the stopping distance and handling offroad. The Honda push rears its ugly head and made it hard to drive at Toscana. I really like the tune Jack and will build my own CR-X based on your settings. I won’t be taking it offroad though.

Slicing and dicing the Clueless!:D
Nice times AC especially those Toscana times.

:lol:He only managed to shave 2 tenths off my Laguna Seca time, but took well over 3 seconds off my best at Toscana! I don't call that a conspiracy I call that some great driving.:D:tup:👍
Besides he posted some very good laps with your Vitz as well.
If the rest of the testers get similar results and C-Zeta doesn't shock us with his entry looks like we both have a good shot at the final round.:gtpflag:

Is this one of your oversteering floaty tunes again?

Unfortunately, no. I wanted that, but the SH tyres along with the FIT's original intents as a shopping trolley meant that there wasn't enough grip up front for that kind of thing. That, and the fact that had I done so, quite how many guys would die driving it on dirt, I daren't think about.

And the 64/36 weight "balance" doesn't help either. Note the "_" around balance…should really be a lack of, if I'm honest.
