Oh no, not that...:nervous::dopey: Er, what do you like to do?

Hope the short and quick reviews please you, even though I quad posted. :dopey:

How 'bout a V36 Skyline Sedan? Should be something unique, a sedan to rival the IS-F and destroy it. But it shouldn't need racing tires to do so.

Eh…help me out here, chassis codes are my weakness, which one is that? And it never needed much more than a power boost to do so. :P

Aka, the most recent one.

But it could also need some work in other areas. Like a sharper and more lively handling, for a start...

@Niku any chance of you giving my AE86 a drive sometime in the near future? It's the green one on share.👍👍

Sure, boss. 👍 I'll see what I can do. By the way, did you like the Caldina trilogy so far?
Thanks!:D
The Caldina reviews have been good. Think the 520PP version is the best of the three tunes as it gets most of the power the 550PP version has but handles more like the 490PP version. Really not satisfied with the Phase IIIs handling, just ran out of time to try and get it handling more like the Phase I & II. Think overall though the performance of all three should surprise a lot of people and that's something you've pointed out nicely in your reviews.👍👍

Ok, off topic-ish, but just an announcement regarding how much stuff will be coming from me in the near future.

My PS3 is starting to develop overheating issues, today being the first time it has properly been burnt out. I'm worried now that this is going to become something of a common practice for it. So I'd be very surprised if it makes it to…say…the next FF shootout?

Anyway, onto the point. In hopes of me not going from rising "hero" (hardly) back to a Zero, I need to back things up. Thing is…I don't know how. So does anyone know how to back up your GT5 save and whether a 40GB USB is enough to do the job? Current save is at 2805KB.

A 40 GB should be more than enough for GT5.

Recently, I've been watching a lot of 80's F1, mainly the stuff from the era of the great Ayrton Senna. Just watching that masterful car control was enough to inspire me to try and recreate that in GT5. I've been driving a 900hp Toyota 7 with no ABS, wrestling a FGT around Fuji in a 20 lap race…but trust me on this, none of those experiences seem to satisfy me as much as driving ASCR's latest 550PP creation in terms of making me feel like the great man Senna himself.

ACSR's HSC- Walking the Tightrope of Lunacy

I'm going to come straight out with it. This car is…insane. I've driven a tuned HSC before, but whereas that one was tuned to be as tame as it can be, ACSR's car…isn't. This car is on the absolute edge of letting go almost all the time. From hairpins to gentle sweepers, this will scare you through all of them. The back feels like it's going to let go at any point in time. On throttle and off. But fight your fears, apply the throttle as smoothly as you can and this thing flies out the corners. Get it wrong, you die. Simple as that. But, and this is a huge but, get it right, and you'll be rewarded.

The car doesn't flatter your ego with immense grip, but thrills you in the most primeval way possible for a car. It is walking a tightrope between madness and genius. This car is alive in the corners, it doesn't just corner on rails, it shifts and slides around in search for grip. I genuinely like car that does this, keeps you on your toes and makes driving it an experience.

I also have to commend you on the gearbox, 1st is perfect for standing starts and also long enough to keep the tail in check through the tight hairpin. 6th is set to give a nice top speed, higher than is required for Suzuka, meaning you can draft anyone ahead of you. If there is anything at all ahead, that is.

Basically, as I see things, with its terror, comes its pace. A 2:09.008 on Suzuka, not only beating my Impreza, but smashing just about every 550PP car I've driven (including a few NSXs) senseless.

This car is truly addictive to drive, if you like your cars on the limit 90% of the time, this really is the car to use. It's a 80's F1 car, without the turbo and 900+hp, but with all the attitude.

The only thing I find wrong with it are the brakes. They seem to make the car very loose and hard to manage when you try to get it to rotate into the first corner of Suzuka from a high speed. But fix that, and I reckon you've got one of the finest 550PP cars I've ever driven. 👍

Thanks for the great review Onboy.:) When I first drove the car while looking for my 550pp entry. I knew this was the car I would enter. While not for everyone it is a pure race car in the way you described. I too noticed it is a little unstable braking from highspeed. After the shootout I'll see about building in some stability under braking, just Not sure I can without ruining the balance I've already created.:scared:

No problem. Niku also reviewed your RX7 a page back, just look in his quadruple posts, it's the second one down. 👍 Personally…I'd normally run my cars with 6/7, so you could try that. Or you could take it the other way and run it at 5/4…I don't know, actually. But the way it drives, I can't say that I'm surprised at its performance in the shootout.

Well, I will post all of the reviews, one at the time, like this one...

AC's spinning engine: Mazda RX-7 by ACSR421

Ok, so we have another shootout car, this time from AC. This one is the 490 entry, and it should be more competitive than Harvey's Caldina, but that is obvious, it's a RX-7! Since it's a 490 pp car, it should be pretty limited in terms of specs, so I'll focus on the driving.

RX-7's are great handling cars, with a near perfect weight distribuition, a good engine and a great suspension. But all cars deserve improvement, so AC upgraded a few things here and there to make the car even more competitive than before. Just by reducing weight in level 1, the car now weighs about 11xx kg, which is great for a sports car. The engine got some extra thingies, which amped up power to 328 hp, along with a great sound, rotary style. But what 'bout driving?

To find the answer, I went to Tsukuba to see for myself how good this thing is. And it did very well in the laps I've done around the track. I mean, it's kinda slidey in low-speed corners, but everywhere else it was near perfection. The car's balance is perfect, so corners are dealt with in a manner that only RX-7's can do. Speed shows up when you need it, with no delay in between gears. No under or oversteer shows up when you drive it, which only helps. It is a impressive car, for sure, but not the best of the 490 pp cars. That honor has to go to someone else...
Thanks for the review 👍👍 Tsukubas hairpin corners are a tough place for the slidey RX-7 it really needs SS tires there. I tried to maximize rear traction with the tune and made some progress with it but it is what it is. If you feel like driving it at other tracks I feel it does much better elsewhere. I'm not sure it has enough gearing for a track like HSR since it was set up for Suzuka but adjusting just the the final gearing should work well.:dopey:

Evolution of a legacy: Mitsu LanEvo by ACSR421

Ok, so now we have a LanEvo done by AC, for the Japanese shootout. It's his 520 pp entry, which sits right in the middle of his RX-7 and the HSC that Onboy drove a while ago. So, how it is in the middle?

Like the RX-7, I took the Evo to Tsukuba for some testing laps and see how improved the driving is. You get 440 hp out of the agressive engine, which gives this yellow hornet quite the beans to push it. But people (Onboy, cough...) dismiss the Evo as being a bit heavy through corners and having a split personality that ruins the corners. However, it wasn't that bad driving AC's Evo, because it has enough grip to pull through the short corners of Tsukuba without feeling like a pick-up truck. Only a few times I felt that the car was a bit heavy, and they were few and far between.

In terms of laps, it was faster that the RX by a few secs, because the tail didn't want to spin in the corners where the RX did that. I had enough confidence to give it the beans, because this car doesn't bite at all when you overdo it. Of course, there are those moments when the car feels a bit heavy, but overall, it's a great improvement over the original product, and a great car for the 520 pp class.

Like Tsuchiya would've wanted: Toyota Sprinter Trueno KT edition by Harvey

First of all, I must say that I love the Hachi-Roku series. I love how it represents cheap and cheerful, how it's so quick and nimble and the fact that is the last great RWD Corolla. It's one of those cars that you could really buy in real life and not break your bank while doing it. And thanks to a certain anime, it became famous everywhere, like GT-R's after Gran Turismo. But enough imo schmit.

This car came to be from the "Car of the week" thread, which is one of those things that show what the GTP community can do for the game they play. It's pretty simple, one member picks a car, and then everyone else tries to tune it to their own style. The difference is that the car is a car that people don't usually drive, leaving it to gather digital dust in their garages. Now Harvey was familliar to the Trueno, having tuned one previous to this tune. But he wanted to do something different.

So what did he do? In a very complicated story (which you can see in the tune description), he picked up a stock used Trueno and gave it the sort of treatment that only Harvey can do. Out with the 130 bhp engine and in with a powerplant of 269 hp, which can scare Skylines silly. Along with a modded suspension and drivetrain, this car was called the Keiichi Tsuchiya version. Needless to say, you should know who that man is... The person that drove a AE86, which was called the "Little Hachi that could", a car that owned Keiichi's personal track, his proving grounds. This green hornet should sting pretty badly, shouldn't it?

Yep, it does. But I must say something. I didn't felt that the car was good around TM. I know that the car was made for that track, but I thought it was better in a other course. Maybe I wasn't driving it properly, but that is my two cents. So, where did this car show its colors? In Deep Forest, in the Japanese '80's cup. I know that sort of cars can be smoked real quick by this car, but it was the place where I enjoyed this car the most.

As you could expect, it has great grip through corners, thanks to its lightweight body, and it has enough power to carry out great speeds while doing it so. The tranny was preped to keep the loud 4A-GE engine revving high all the time, so AT users have a great tool to drive. But it can drift as easely as it can grip. If you smash the throttle, the tail will give you a worst answer than the one Jody gave Michael Wilson after the first mission of Metal Wolf Chaos. Of course, it's not something you can't control, but it is something that I try to avoid in races. But it is damm fun to do so when you're not racing! It was easy to drift a normal Hachi-Roku, but with the new engine, it's a smoke producing factory. And a tire wasting facility too. But for what it is, it's a great 86. I don't really like that ugly wing, it makes the car look like a bad ricer from NFSU2, and it is pretty green... in colour. But by God, it's fun.

Hey Niku thanks for the review of my AE86 KT edition. Couple things, the wing was added to allow it to match the SS versions max PP and gives it a slight improvement in handling. That said the car is very good without it and I wouldn't put it on a car tuned for 450PP.

As for Trial Mountain, if you've done my "Quest for the Holy Grail" challenge then your well aware of just how rough the track is. Lighter cars have a much harder time there because of getting tossed about more and it is unlikely to ever be a cars best track. That being said, if a car can perform well there it should be good on just about any track.

Last in regards to the Green paint on the car. It was built as a special edition in commemoration of Keiichi Tsuchiya, who's personal color is Turquoise Green and this was as close as I could find to his color.

Also I'll start working on that request for you. No need to send the car, just let me know the paint to use and wheels.👍👍

I'm glad you liked the review. 👍 As for the request, all I want is a black paint and some shiny rims (Perhaps those Rays Trinty wheels you find in the Jag XK tune of yours)

Oh, so the green is the hommage to Tsuchiya's favourite colour? That is a good touch.

Post number 4,000!:gtpflag:

Niku I'll see about doing your car later this week or this weekend. I'm taking a short breather currently from GT5 to recharge my creative batteries as it were.

Will keep active on here and I'm definitely not quiting GT5 just need a little break from the 6 hours+ a day I was giving it.:lol:

Once you step away for awhile, you'll see it's like a drug. I haven't been able to play for about a week and a half, and it's driving me crazy... short trip :dopey:

And congrats on your 4000th post

I've been fairly on/off on GT5 recently. Actually, that's rubbish. Found a brilliant 500PP room, so I'm just sticking with that guy. I've had quite a lot of epic races in my BCC RS4, so I might release a tune for it soon. Assuming I can pull away from my "Racing into 3AM in the morning" habit.

And is Ms. Krenkme JR addicted to this drug or is she being fed it with moderation? :dopey:

IT WAS MEEEE!!! IT WAS MEEEE!!! POST COUNTS GET DISTORTED BECAUSE I'M HERREEEE!!

I got used copies of Grid and NFS:Pro Street so I'm still driving. Just getting to do some things I can't do in GT5.

I've taken that for a spin :) I spotted it while getting your 'holy grail' model. I must say its a great car. I wasn't a fan of green on cars but it grew on me and now I like it. I think I'm gonna tune my AE86 like this so I have it in my own garage if that's ok?

In moderation. She has more important things going on in her life then the game (school, karate, girl scouts, and growing up too fast ). The game is something we get to do together. And she is turning into quite the wheel women :)

Please do.👍👍 That's why I post the tunes and put cars on share is so people can test drive them and if they like it, put a copy in their garage.

As for the color I wouldn't normally have painted that car green but it was supposed to be a special commemorative edition to the real life Drift King and that is as close as I.could find to the Jade green he uses on his cars and racing suits.:gtpflag:

Its so easy to control round trial mountain. I normally have problems running on that track but in this it seems smooth and collected. Drifts pretty good too ;) As for the 'holy grail', Did you tune that on ice? It really doesnt like straight lines :D

I had a drive with the Holy Handgrenade a while back. Quite crazy, I must say. It's like an Elise with plenty of ilegal substances in the engine. Did I mention it was crazy?:dopey:

A 40 GB should be more than enough for GT5.

I use a 4 gb memory stick just for gt5 gamesave and have 5065 kb data to save at the moment can't see why you would need a 40gb. Just exit game go up to game save data press triangle then highlight memory stick then save. Easy as that I do it everyday to dupe stuff.
