Got mine feeling alright but I really need to work on a gearbox this time. The stock doesn't cut it and the 6 speed is ok but I want to make sure I get the most out of the power I have. Time to dive through the forum to find out how to do it!

Mind you, I've only been testing for a few minutes. I've yet to try a few ideas to get my land yacht go quicker.

@Onboy I've tested a half dozen or so different cars, my fastest is just getting into the 54s the slowest is a low 57.

Much larger spread at Monza (no chicane) which is to be expected with the fastest putting up a 1:39 and the slowest a 1:48

Note the fastest and slowest cars on the two tracks are different cars, although the fastest are near the top on the other track and the slowest near the bottom on the other track.

Weight of cars I've tested so far varies between just making the 1650kg minimum and around 2450kg.

Well I'm highly annoyed at the moment as I'm having my usual connection issues with PSN but now its being compounded by GT5 not wanting to change screens when I'm logged in. The game just freezes on either the screen it's currently displaying or the logo screen until PSN disconnects me. Wouldn't care except I currently need to run some seasonal races as my war chest seems to be running low on dubloons.

Could you use you phone as your connection? I can use mine to run my laptop at my inl-laws place. Just wondering.

Maybe you can use your mobile phone for the connection but the speed isn´t that high.
I guess it´s about 1 to 6 mbit/sec and that´s way to low for a PSN connection.

Yes I use my cell phone as my connection. I have 4Glte with Verizon and it runs about 5 up and 15 down. PSN shows it as a NAT2 connection and GT5 always tries to have me run at the highest settings online. (I never do because I know I have the connection issues.)
But as we all know by now PSN has some sort of issue whenever there is any sort of wireless connection involved, plus I think Sony causes issues since they have deals/are connected with another mobile provider.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for this Shootout as both a Tuner and Test driver. I think I got lucky in the Fall Shootout so it'll be a good chance for me to see what I can do with some more power and speed.

I've only looked at three cars so far, but based on the times I'm seeing above, I think I can be competitive. Haven't done a lot of tuning or testing on SS tires above 500 pp so it should be a learning experience. Actually looking forward more to driving the other cars as I rarely drive anything but my own tunes. Should be fun!!!

Good to know. Mine is now 1801kg.

Just messing with you . But this is why you should not reveal too soon. If I am close to a car that is posted early, maybe I will add a couple more kg for an extra point. 💡

The best thing about this shootout is it's going to make us all think. Do I go light and fast? But how much faster will I be than the heavier cars? If I go too heavy, will I lose points on the time attack? What if I come up with the fastest, bestest tank ever, but everybody hates it and I get nothing on the photo or driver's choice?

I just want to clear something up because I am feeling a bit dim today...is the minimum weight of 1650kg including ballast? eg a car of 1450kg weight with 200kg ballast, or must the car in question be a minimum of 1650kg WITHOUT ballast?

I'm mainly asking so nobody gets cheated by a lighter car on the speed competition...

Can we get an idea of how the points system is going to work before we submit our cars? It might be helpful to know if for example, having the #1 heaviest car is going to gain you the same number of points as having the #1 fastest time. Will the points be evenly distributed for all categories or will some categories carry more points? ....etc.
