Wallbanger's "Tons of Fun"(Final Round Underway)

Yea…didn't quite get that either. Paint it Orange and make the first ever Dukes of Hazards entry in a F.I.T.T event! :D Or just paint it black and say it's after Steve McQueen's Mustang, or whatever it was in Bullit… :dopey:

Yes, I said it. The Charger/Challenger retro design is o.k., but not styling enough for me. Besides, that would be too easy of a pick for a guy from Detroit. I'm going with something more classy. It will be dressed in factory paint colors and won't be wearing any big ugly tuner wings. I'm going for unique and stylish. Who cares if the car is fast at all.

Do you need to be part of a garage, or can you enter independently? I might have to try this so I can show you how much style a Charger has :D

All are welcomed, regardless of whether you are independent or not. 👍

I do like this approach, the car I'm thinking about using now I chose just because I think it will be very fast, but I dont like it, I'd rather go for the unique and stylish look too. Not to many engine upgrades just a nice suspension setup.

I think I'm in on this one. About weight, style, fun to drive and lap time. Cool.

I will tune and drive. Darn, the tesla is not heavy enough. I will just test drive... nah I will tunes too.
Go ahead and send me confirmation PM guys.
I'll add you to the list as soon as I get them.

Not heavy enough. :D
Thankfully.
Wrong Onboy the road car version just makes the weight with a full load of ballast. It's got my fastest lap of Monza so far and is 2nd or 3rd fastest in London. Looks put it in either love it or hate it category with people. Driving feel is okay, so if someone thinks it can do good enough in the other 4 categories they might be willing to sacrifice the weight category.

Same thing goes for a couple other extremely fast cars, not to mention the race cars that are available.

Remember this will be all about trying to find what you think is the winning formula for the combination of the various different categories, which is why we should see a pretty wide range of cars entered.👍👍

I was talking about the Concept version.

Well…I'm pretty happy with my car now. I even got the brakes to work. I'm currently doing mid 1:48s with it. Not too bad. Considering it's tipping the scale at 2.1 tons. :D

Alright, I think I'll take my hand at tuning this time, sign me up. Hopefully my tune will be better then my test driving.

So this is basically a heavy as hell car challenge. Meaning I can choose any real heavy car? Do I make two tunes for each course? Are there any limits on pp or power or is it pretty much as long as it fits the weight and I assume a street car?

Links to Score Sheets and Photo Polls

Special thanks here to madmyk for generating the score sheets and to DigitalBaka for setting up and handling the photo polls.

Score Sheet in progress. Right now have 4 groups of 6 tuners and 6 drivers set up.

I need to know scoring method for drivers choice. I can make a page for DB to do the photo scoring himself.

1) Yep..!!
2) One tune to rule them all.
3) Tyres and weight are your only restrictions.

Send me a PM. I'll add you to the list as soon as I get confirmation your in as a tuner.

No limits on PP, HP or car selection, all cars are eligible as long as they can reach the minimum weight. As CyKosis already stated just one tune for the car entered.

All the test drivers will rank the cars in the group/s they test from first to last so with a 6 car group they will rank them from 1 - 6. Then the rankings will be averaged and points awarded in reverse order, so the top pick in the group would get 6 points and the least liked gets 1 point.

For the Style/photo category people will only vote for 1 car then the cars will get points based on their ranking from number of votes. So most votes gets 6 points fewest votes gets 1 point.

Any tie in these categories means they both get the points for the lower position. So say two cars have the same average ranking for drivers choice and soul be in 2nd and 3rd place. They both get the 4 points for 3rd place.

*coughcoughGTbyCitroenConceptcoughcough* ;)

With the ability to add 200kg of balast, there are tons of cars that would qualify - currently 93 premium cars. I think your weight limit might be set a little low?

I dare someone to do a NASCAR. They have the best power to weight ratio of any car above 1450 lbs.

X for the picture can we do it at any track/location? or just the 2 test track locations?

TIA
Indy
Photos may be taken anywhere.
Just remember this is about the vehicles style and not getting some fantastic picture so you'll want to do your picture showing the car as best as possible instead of trying necessarily to get artistic angles and lighting effects. Of course with that being said having a great looking photo can't hurt.:D

lol that was first car i was thinking of. Can we do race cars tho or is it street cars only?

Ya me too. I dare someone to run a NASCAR. Try to get one to accelerate out of slow corners on sports soft tires :ouch:. It is worth a go for someone with expertise and talent with LSD and gearing, though that is not me :dunce:.

Any car that can meet the minimum weight is allowed!

Yes that means race cars like the NASCARS and Rally cars, tuner cars, and concept cars.:D:crazy:

Note: I'm no NASCAR tuning expert and I didn't spend a lot of time trying to tune one but I did run one with full ballast and SS tires on the tracks. It's well down the list on London and second or third at Monza in my testing. A very good NASCAR specialist could I'm sure set one up to run much better but with all the different categories in play...:sly:

lolol o man so much choice and freedom with this one. Nascar i really want to enter, but the brakes suck the slightest bit too much and the thing goes crazy so i prob won't be entering that

This I can handle. Though you could have drivers assign points to their favorite cars - 6pts for favorite, 5pts for next favorite etc. to make the scoring a little more consistent. Whatever is less confusing though. The formula is easy either way.

Only 6 tuners total get points? Or a vote per group? Who is voting?

I understand what you mean, but this is manual work to calculate. Though if you only do this at the end when looking at the totals, it is simple enough.

I should have a draft ready soon. 👍

@madmyk the style/photo category will be done per group. So each photo poll that DigitalBaka puts up will have 5-7 cars in it for people to vote on.

I intend to sign up as a tester for this and future tuner events. I'll put my official hat in the ring next week during the sign-up period.

So if I read this correctly, within a given group of cars, only the drivers testing those cars get to vote on best photo? So if you get stuck in a category where someone has an exceptional photo and gets 4 or 5 votes, most of the rest of the entrants will get 1 point and be tied for last, whereas if you end up in a group with relatively equal photos, most of the particpants will get points?

If that's the case, maybe it would be better to have a 1,2,3 ranking or something like that so that each participant has at least a chance at some points.

4)Style/Photo Award not a contest for the most artistic photo but one focused on the looks/style of the cars. A great picture of a car most find ugly should get a lower score than an average picture of a car most find beautiful.

And if I read this correctly, are you saying that all else being equal, the better looking cars should get more votes, regardless of the quality of the photo? Do I also take this to mean that you're looking for full shots of the car, and not just focused on one small portion of it?

The photo category will have photo polls open to everyone on GTPlanet for voting and will be posted in the photomode forums. While the cars are being tested the photomode polls will be available for everyone to vote on. The polls will close at the same time as test driving finishes.

As for your second question you are allowed to take and submit any sort of photo you wish. However, the instructions DigitalBaka will post with each poll are to judge the appeal/looks/style/what have you of the cars and not the artistic merit of the photograph.

I don't have an artistic bone in my body, as evidenced by my photo entry in the Fall Tuner Shootout getting only one vote last time I checked...lol...but in my opinion, the first one is way too dark and the second one is just barely better because the fireworks are distracting from the car and I don't think it's the most photogenic angle of that particular model.

Thanks for the clarification Desperado 👍

Added MrGrado and Rallywagon to the list.👍👍

@wildheart90 to be honest I don't feel either does a good job of showing the car and lean more towards the artistic photo side rather than doing a good job of displaying the car in question for judging.

That said who knows how people will vote and most likely both would gets votes just because there are people that are fans of the makes, just as there will be people that would rather vote for a Yugo than a Lamborghini or Ferrari or Japanese car or American car etc...
