It's so much more than custard tarts. Along with coffee and @Tavilha, it is one of Portugal's hidden gems.

My wheel is holding up, just. Still the same issues and FFB is on / off. I have decided to not to spend more money on sim racing though. When it fully breaks, that's going to be it unfortunately.

On Wednesday we will do a non-championship round - Knockhill in the road Ford Escort RS1600 - just for fun before the next championship starts. The track can only take 12, but that shouldn't be a problem with current summer attendance!

Might have to skip Wednesday I'm afraid, and for the weirdest of reasons...I have a sim racing performance injury! Had really bad back ache last week and just assumed I'd trapped a nerve whilst running or slept awkwardly on it but it's back exactly the same today. I can only assume it's my seating position in the rig but it's odd that it had only happened the last three races and never before.

I'll investigate and see if I can find a solution though

You should be ok in the Escort the seats are more upright.

Perhaps a small cushion to provide a bit of lumber support might help?

Above - new Group C series car allocation

Please note the following:

There will be no car changes - i.e. we stick with the same car for all 6 rounds (people will get a chance to drive different Group C cars next year).

In common with recent series there will be one compulsory pit stop with a pit window between 10 and 20 minutes of race duration. This seems to work well - if you find yourself stuck behind someone, try pitting before them to get the undercut!

Note - our series is for Group C cars including the very successful cars from Nissan, Sauber (Mercedes), Jaguar and Porsche. The Porsche 962 was developed from and much safer than the earlier 956 which had the drivers footline in front of the axle - think about that when you watch the video - any high speed accident would likely result in very serious injury - fortunately we can get much of the thrill with none of the risk!

I finally decided to buy a decent wheel, because I was getting majorly frustrated with the controller. I used to have a wheel as a kid and did some racing, but this is years back (I won't tell you how many, so I don't feel old ). I have been busy playing F1 2019 and Dirt Rally 2.0 for the time being, but I haven't done any online racing in PC2, yet.

I haven't visited a car show for a while, but today I visited one of the best! New Guys - we sometimes share pictures of car shows and race meetings visited. These are a few of the most interesting shots from today.

The Glas 2600 had a technically interesting V8 engine with a single overhead cam per bank. The Company got into financial difficulties and was taken over by BMW - the model was not a success - a short wheelbase with long front and rear overhangs produced a ride whose quality did not match the high price.

In red - the stunning BMW 1600 GT.

Above Ralph Nader wrote a book titled "Unsafe at Any Speed" about the Chevrolet Corvair and the American Auto industry's attitude to safety - this car must have been his ultimate nightmare - the turbo version of the Corvair with 150hp and dangerously long turbo lag (one of the earliest production turbo cars with reportedly up to 10 seconds of lag!).

Above Lucas mechanical petrol injection enabled the ancient Standard Vanguard based 2.5 litre straight six in the Triumph TR6 to produce a lusty 150 bhp. Sometimes called "The last hairy chested sports car". Unfortunately most mechanics did not know how to service the injection system resulting in rough running and reliability problems.

We never really tried that out. Willi was trying a Porsche out (I think he liked it) and Sean and myself were in the Merc - with me coaching!* They did seem very well planted though.

Important News For Team Nissan !

From Round 2 onwards (i.e. next race) Team Nissan drivers will use the Nissan R89C (note this car is only available with race number 23) as per table below:

This morning (Friday) I went to Brands Hatch for the Test Day and bumped into @ShaunyB (Shaun) and his confusingly named Irish friend Shaun - nice to see you again Shauns!

Sometimes at a Test Day I am lucky enough to see something very special and today was very, very special !!! I was lucky enough to meet Steve Soper - retired Touring Car Legend and now keen historic racer who was testing a unique Ford GT40 in preparation for an upcoming race at Spa.

One of the biggest problems with the GT40 was weight - it used a lot of steel and as a result was very heavy compared with period rivals. In 1965/6 Alan Mann led a programme for Ford to develop special lightweight versions of the GT40 - five were planned, of which only two were built and only one remains (AMGT2). This car was raced in the 1966 Sebring 12 hours by Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill - and is the one I saw and photographed today. (It was instantly recognisable as a Lightweight from the corrugated instead of plain sill panels). It was lovely to meet "Soperman" and even lovelier to see this unique and priceless historic racer!

Above note air cooling ducts to solid rear brake discs and rubber doughnut driveshaft coupling (CV joints used on 7 litre cars). Also note - no "Gurney Bubble" on door. Below seats were ventilated and fed via air ducts for driver comfort in long races.

Wow very lucky Sick, to see a Ford GT40, would be great see one these at Croft, but probably, to loud. Was excellent, weekend at Croft, track has been, resurfaced, so has a lot more grip, even in the wet. Photos to come.

The team had two sets of silencers with them to meet different noise limits. It sounded fairly quite while testing. Personally I like the cars to be loud, but there are houses very near the track at Brands so they are only allowed a small number of noisy days per year.
