I had set myself the goal of not spinning during the race. You can see for yourself how that went Spoiler: I was more than relieved that I had mapped the seat adjustments to my wheel It was still a really fun race including a great battle with @Oldbass47
First off. Thanks to @AndreasR for always posting up the race results and to @half_sourly for keeping the overall points tally up to date. And of course to @John Wells for the photographic replay of our efforts. 👍
Good thinking. I wasn't worried about drivers loosing their headlights this week so went with visual damage. It shows that while it doesn't affect the car's performance it can cause other problems.
I had a quiet race, after Napalm and Simba had a bit of an incident I found myself alone in 2nd spot watching Jammy slowly disappear ahead of me. And that was that for most of the race, I drifted around not seeing many cars. Simba put a charge on and began to close in so I had to concentrate a little more towards the end.
However while I was drifting around I was thinking of possible championship ideas. More Monday races news to follow..!
You have probably noticed Sick's absence recently! I've been filling in for a while so I thought I'd better update you all on why that was and to let you know that it is likely to continue.
Due to new job commitments that involve a change of working hours Sick is having problems running his evening races - especially the Monday meeting. So therefore he's asked me to host on Mondays for now - but I'll always send him an invite so that when he's able to, he'll join.
With my hosting I've become quite adapt with the online settings and controls. So I hope you don't mind my occasional efforts at tweaking things for each race!
Anyway, I have a proposal/suggestion I've been thinking about to maybe alter the racing slightly. With the current championship nearing its end I thought this might be a good time to put the idea to you all.
We've been using the same format for quite some time, 15 min qualification, 30 min race, and now because I know how to change most settings on the fly I want to put an idea forward to maybe change things up. It would hopefully refresh it for everyone. It would involve starting slightly earlier (8:15) but would finish about the usual time now and would include more racing in-between. But I'd need your approval first, I wouldn't want to go ahead and alienate anyone.
I'll go into more details after the final race on Monday. Watch this space!

Sick is limited with his available race time, I'm not really, so I could start earlier but I'm not sure everyone is available then(?). That's why I mentioned 8:15 as a sort of halfway measure. I was actually thinking of you when trying to work out some timings - I didn't want to finish too late - while also giving Sick a chance to join later if he's free.
My current idea and timing would amount to about 1 hour 20 minutes. So about 30 mins longer than now. Nothing is fixed yet and open to modifications. So the start time I'll leave up to you chaps - I can adjust the race timing(s!) to suit.
We could perhaps do with a test race anyway to see if everything works. And if everyone likes it! If we do proceed I might make a thread to save cluttering up this one.
Anyway tonight; After doing a few laps of CotA I've got to say I still don't like that circuit very much. Actually that's not quite right because I do like the Club layout, it has most of the best sections and not many of the stop start bits.

Quite the damning assessment. Can't see myself buying it (certainly not at the launch price). Between GTS (and GT 7 when that comes out) for just playing about and ACC for more of a challenge/ SIM experience, I have enough. In fact, if it wasn't for this league series, I wouldn't play PC2.
I'd question the "honest" bit since he's never really liked PC1 or 2 for some reason, so he's starting from a very negative viewpoint. But he's fully entitled to his opinions. At the moment the game is getting poorer remarks from those coming from PC2 with expectations of what they expect PC3 to be and better remarks from those approaching it from a more neutral position. It's certainly not a direct carry on from our Monday game of choice. I'm still on the fence at the moment, plus it's a little expensive.
It will be interesting to hear your opinions on it when you've played it for a while Jammy. I think it's best to treat it as an entirely new game you have to get used to rather than PCars 2.5
Always needed to form a realistic opinion/expectation. Thanks for posting, @IfAndOr 👍
My post was more about getting a discussion going than a definitive answer to the question "is it good?"
Just finished watching the initial review by @Scaff
He mentions that seat adjustment has been omitted - I know some of you found that important in PC2. FOV adjustment is still present.
Photomode has been improved which @John Wells will be pleased by!
I don't think I will be getting PC3 until it's cheap and maybe not at all - too much has been deducted - to me it just looks like a cash grab rushed out before the new consoles arrive. I know it's taken 3 years, but the impression I have formed from the reviews is that perhaps SMS should have taken 4 years!
@IfAndOr - changing the start time from 20:30 to 20:00 would be ok with me - I might be able to race occasionally on a Monday and I think the earlier time might be popular with other racers.
Yeah that may be problematic. However I don't think you can force on interior view so those having problems could use an alternative. They've removed many of the weather settings too and me being Mr Weather isn't so happy about that.

More I play pc3 more I like it so far.
Have some caree mode task done. Run two rivals event. 4 different car used.
Car handels, ffb and general playing is better than pc2. It's more realistic.

Hmm, yes I've seen that and the word review isn't really the appropriate term. And a quick look at his channel shows that he's into rigs, direct drive wheels and full on PC racing games, so he probably doesn't get the fun part, especially if it's too easy to drive.
Anyway forgetting PC3 let's get back to the matter at hand. Mondays.
There's a slight recap of what I mentioned previously.
We've been starting at 8.40 and after the 15 mins qualification this only allows for the one race. Since most of you are already about in John's practice room anyway I'm suggesting starting a little earlier. This will mean there'll be extra time for more racing and if we overrun at any time it hopefully won't be too late for those in a later time zone (or like to get to bed early).
So start about 8:00 / 8.15 and with a meeting length of approximately 1hr 20 mins - there'll be a few minutes between races while I change the race settings - it will finish around 9.30, roughly as we do now.
To have more races in our allotted time I have this idea. It's a variation of something I've mentioned before that includes elements of what I've been running on Fridays combined with what we have been doing on a Monday.
Here's my idea. Click on the spoiler tab below. (For neatness)
Each meeting will involve 3 races with 2 different cars on 2 different layouts of the same track. A "slower" and faster car.
1st race - Slower car. 10 min qually session*. An under 15 minutes race (probably about 12 mins) - shorter track layout.
*This will allow any latecomers to still enter. Provided they are not too late! There's always the following race anyway.
2nd race - Slower car. Random Grid, under 15 minutes race - shorter track layout.
Points from the 2 races combined to give an overall result.
3rd race. Faster car, 10 minutes qualification, around a 25 minute race, formation lap with rolling start - longer track layout. Possibly a compulsory pit stop.
Cool down laps may be added at race finish.
The actual races will be in laps and the length will be approximately the times shown - adjusted depending on track.
Drivers can join at any time and enter the next race (might be good for Sick). Or leave if they didn't want to participate in the later race(s).
Tyre wear, fuel, damage, rules etc - not quite finalised, but will probably be the same for all races to save me changing those settings as well.
Don't expect too much spectacular weather since I've already got enough to do! I'll might adjust the time between races to make it seem the day has progressed.
I have a good idea for the cars for the initial series. If successful I've also got a few other car ideas. The track list isn't finalised yet. But they'll be ones with at least 2 variations - one for each car - with both (probably) requiring access to the pits.
Let me know what you think. All thoughts and questions are welcome, particularly about the start time. I don't want to go ahead if it's not liked.
If it is liked I might make a new thread to save messing up Sick's. I'm thinking of trying out some different cars anyway.
We could of course just continue as we are but I thought I'd take this opportunity to perhaps let us "spice things up" and also get a bit more racing in during the same allotted time.
I like the idea. Some thoughts and one question:
- having multiple races appeals, since if something goes wrong in one race, it is not the end of your prospects.
- earlier start and 9.30pm end time great too.
- having a qualifier for the longer race / new layout/ different car is good.
- don't care too much for the weather stuff, so more than happy if it is just dry and daytime; Project CARS is all about fun now, isn't it?
- I like a pit-stop idea. Don't know how it works in PC2, but maybe add a requirement to use two compounds (easily done in GTS)?
- will take policing, so maybe won't fly, unless there is an easy way to check after the fact
- Note your scoring of first two races combined; will this in effect mean score for the round will be all three races combined?
