Wednesday Cobras 20:30-21:30 BST Congratulations Champion EranFinished

Hi Zeus. You're over here as well now. đź‘Ť

I'd like to be #13 but I can't figure out how to put it on my car.
Unfortunately you can't add race numbers to the coupés even though there's a space for it. PD logic!
The chromeline roadster can have a number on it. Garage screen, bottom option - driver number.

Thanks @IfAndOr. I'll be using the (numberless) Daytona coupe as I'm quite a bit faster in it on this track. Hope to see you guys on track!

Welcome Zeus - I'll send you a friend request right away. Once you have accepted that you will receive a club invitation for club 1000875 as the races are held in the lobby of that club. Hopefully you will be able to join us tonight. We also have some free spaces for Friday Rockets.

I'll be off now to send an FR and do a bit of practise.

Good race yesterday! During practice I found it difficult to know when to start braking, but eventually I found that I could count the roadside markers, and that gave me perfect brake distances. I messed up the count a few times during the warmup though, especially ahead of corner 2. During the races I managed to stay focused though, so that worked well!

On the first lap of the main race I was really close to losing control in the chicane. I had a squiggly moment right in the middle of it and managed to avoid the walls at the exit by just a few centimeters!

Apart from that incident, corner 5 was the only place that I struggled with, it's such an awkwardly shaped corner, decreasing radius and going uphill. I often had a too shallow angle and had to scrub off a lot of speed near the exit. Nailed it a few times though :)

I'll probably miss the race next Wednesday, I'm working late then.

A big welcome to Zeus - a great debut second place! I started third for the Feature Race with Simba and Eran ahead and Rich and Zeus behind. I got a good start and could probably have passed Simba at the first corner, but I knew he and Eran had been turning much faster laps than me and concentrated on trying to race cleanly. The opening lap was intense with Rich and Zeus on either side of me at times. Zeus made a good pass and Rich continued to challenge. I tried to stay with Zeus and I was able to keep tantalisingly close for a lot of laps before a slight mistake damaged the front and I lost five seconds in one lap. Eran and Simba set some very fast lap times. Eran pulled away from the pursuing pack; Simba made a mistake and the flying Zeus swept into second. Eran held a good gap; Simba stayed hot on the heels of Zeus for a close two, three finish. I was very happy with my race overall and there was a great feeling from the car on this track. The chicane is one of the masterpieces of GT6 track making and I think this track deserves a bigger audience - someone please nominate it for track of the week. I just request that @eran0004 renames it Ainotree because I think that fits much better with a Mexican background and would help differentiate it from other Aintree GP track replicas which are set on a lush British style template.

Below action from Round 7 and current championship points standings before deduction of one round.

Hey, thanks for having me out! It was great racing. I gotta apologize for basically plowing into the tarnheld on the first race, not sure what happened but I only had like 50% braking power for some reason into that corner, then my brakes were dragging a little bit, then they fixed themselves so that's how I raced from there. In the main race I only ever got 80% as my max braking pressure... I have been having issues with them and I am in the process of ordering new potentiometers.

Also, I noticed by watching the replays that @John Wells you only ever use about 95% of your throttle, and your throttle bounces even on the longest straight, are you having any issues with your gear?

Aside from all that, the track was really fun to drive and a little frustrating because there are a couple corners that I couldn't seem to get them all right in one lap, hit one perfect, screw up the next... Challenging track and fun. I didn't realize how hard I could push through that chicane until the later half of the main race.

It was also the longest race I have ever done, I found it kinda of intense - trying to be consistently fast for so long, great challenge. Which is probably the only reason I was able to pass for second place late in the race because he spun on his own.

In the replay that great three way battle we had going on! Me on the inside line getting squirrelly, Sick in the middle with Rich coming on strong round the outside, everyone gunning for the chicane 3 wide! It was intense!

I'll try to make it every week but I can't gaurantee it.

hi guys , good track but hard to find a braking point so used driving line ( felt like cheating) had good run but lost it couple of times, not so bad to lose to much time ! only once the no run off saved me :)
Was closing in on sick and kicked myself with every mistake , tarnheld behind i was scared of losing my place but held it together to the finish , enjoyed a lot thanks all..

starting to get better in the car now , catch you soon

I forgot to say amongst my GTS rambling on the the Rocket thread so I'll fit it in here.

I enjoyed the track @eran0004. The lack of corner markers and trackside objects does keep you on you're toes! I don't think I once managed to successfully get around the final corner, that's trickier than it looks. :)
And the chicane allowed for some wild and fun moments. Shame we can't alter the camber on individual corners to reduce the bumps.

I see you got a picture of the plane that Sick arrived in @John Wells
Where's my helicopter? ;)

Well, it's less likely that I will make it to the Round tommorrow... But I will try my best.

The rockets, I'm not able to join this friday.

The reason why I haven't been competing recently is because not just of me being busy, but also it will give me time to prepare for the BSCC-2, as I will be competing for the prize. ;)

see this and thought i was still racing lol

Nice Shots! Hi Richroo - That is a VW powered kit car which is designed to resemble a Type 35 Bugatti - in both shots you can see the custom beetle exhaust exiting at the rear centre. I spoke to the owner of one of these at a car show - the weight distribution is very biased to the rear as the car is rear engined and the driver and passenger sit where the rear seat would be on the donor Beetle. The battery is moved as far forward as possible - the guy I met had also fitted some ballast to the front in an attempt to improve the handling.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that it is Wednesday Cobras today - I'm home early today so the room will open shortly for practise. Race starts at 20:35 BST as usual.

Excellent track Paul.:cool:đź‘Ť

There was a lot of lag at the start and saw richroo suddenly skid out behind me after a lag period. Really hope that didn't happen because of me!

I'm still really tired from a couple heavy work days and nights.
I was drifting the cobra all over the place; mostly unintentional. Surprised I didn't crash sooner but once I did sick was past me like a shot, and I just couldn't catch up.

Great racing all and amazing pace up front.

Oops, shouldn't start power napping before the races
I always have a 5 minute nap between races. ;)

amazing pace up front.
I think that was a combination of Simba's skill and my track knowledge. :)

Good racing by all and a good battle with Simba in both races. I just couldn't get quite near enough to pass cleanly without a lunge.

Shame there aren't more cars because I think the track would benefit from being busier. And it's strange how it works because I didn't see much lag at all.

See you on Rocket Friday.

The connection gods are definitely not on my side. Even when I'm not taking part in a race I suffer from disconnections! This time, at around 10 minutes before the end of your race, the cooling system on my bus disconnected from the engine, leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere for an hour waiting for a replacement bus!

Hope you had a great race, looking forward to the Rockets on Friday :)

Managed to do a few sighting laps before race But remember 25 corners was taking its time , held it together first race , was a little battle with Zeus he cut under me and i managed to tag him on the cut back, R.I. i hope .. Lag was a bit off putting at start of main race and had to hold back as the car in front jumped back and forth ,then went off line in traffic forgot to brake and hit the barrier so only blame myself lol Had little battle with john trying to pass him with out knocking us off .pushed a bit to try and catch up but more mistakes held me back ..nice track tho great when you get the flow going :)

I've been working on a tune to tame the '59 StingRay racer concept and I think it's so good that I thought I'd share it with you. It reminds me a bit of the D-Type Jaguar, although not quite as good looking of course. Using CS tyres, this car slides nicely around the corners :)

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/resources/corvette-stingray-racer-concept-59.4966/
That's one of my go-to drift cars but I don't think I've ever used it for racing or time trials.
I'll build a new one with your tune & see how it goes. Thanks for sharing. đź‘Ť
