T1: 35.558
T2: 1'01.907

My fingers hurt. I dont see it getting any better than that, but i would love to turn that T2 into a 01.8xx before monday.

Yes, indeed, to the right. I tried a bit more and personally, I found a bit faster taking that turn in 4th gear, maybe a tenth of a second. But you'll end up really close to the wall of the left turn so be careful, and if you are too careful, you'll end up at the right side of the wall at the end of that left turn ;)

Well the time is now and Im gonna give it a bash in 4th !!! Cheers for the tip !

Ive decided to stay in 3rd for the 2 corners after T1. I just had an hour or so and managed to get the quickest lap all week. I haven't got my splits as I know I can go faster. Ive realised that if you get the line wrong coming out of the first tunnel, the lap is screwed. If its wrong then you dont carry enough speed through the next right hander, and you are probably over on the left side for the next left turn, when you need to be middle-ish to pull over onto the rumble strips. Its easy when you write it down but to do it right AND finish off the rest of the lap !!! I can do it though, Im sure !

CFM, what was your T1-T2 epiphany?

Just to drift the car a bit at the top of the hill after T1, and to brake earlier when approaching the following left hairpin, since I was trying to late apex it for some reason. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Hugging the inside line on the first tunnel with proper throttle modulation seems to help me a bit there, but I'm not 100% sure on that section yet. Still need to get my T1's down more before the magic happens.:sly:

To prevent myself from going completely insane I'll submit my times today instead of after the weekend. Have been trying to improve my times but after long sessions where I actually got worse and worse times all the time I today finally managed to surpass my previous T1 and T2 only to slam the car into the left wall in the penultimate corner.. :grumpy:

Best clean lap:
T1 0'35.922 (seen 0'35.5XX clean)
T2 1'02.322 (seen 1'02.181 clean)

However I had a great last sector on the above posted lap and I can't seem to beat it again. My patience is worn out. Oh well, happy with my lap time, not so happy with my T times. I at least beat my goal laptime by nearly 2 seconds. :)

Not so great racing this week, too frustrating for me as I seemed to regress rather than anything else.. I knew which lines to take but just couldn't nail them! :ouch:

Oh well.. See you all in next weeks race where I will hopefully make some very much needed progress..

Cheers!

Yeah, we all know how it feels.
I suggest you forget all this by racing the Grand Valley 300km Enduro in a full modded Mini Cooper

Yeah, that's the perfect remedy.. :)

How about Complex String in a fully modded Escudo? The joys of flailing around ...

Flailing around? If I so much as think of touching the accellerator the car won't turn at all.. :ouch: Might be my settings though.. :)

Care to share any tips Hugo?

What about a little walk through? :)

For the tunnel, just brake into the lefthander, while braking in time. Try to stay on the inside. If you slide to the outside, just brake earlier. When your back starts to slide, countersteer a little and make sure you're on the inside on the end of the tunnel. Then hit the curb on the easy righthander and try to stay on the right as much as possible, so you can carry more speed through the important lefthander. Hit the curb on the inside while in 3rd gear, or you'll slide into the wall...

For the combination after T1, stay in 4th and brake into the corner. Make sure that you maintain enough speed and don't brake too late for the following hairpin. Start braking when you're 'on top' (the track goes upwards there...) and again brake into the corner. Then simply accelerate to T2 and attack the section afterwards. When you're too cautious there, you'll lose a lot of time! Stay in 3rd there and try to drive in a straight line as much as possible there. Cut the sharp righthander and then lift throttle shortly for the last corner and go flat out up to the line :sly:

@BBQ0801, nice times 👍 . If you nailed that last section in your run, we can be close!

Uhhh. That tunnel turn is such a pain. lap after lap I mess up on the entry and my ghost just barely edges ahead. Then I'm running up the ghosts butt for the rest of the lap all the way to the last chicane where after a lousy 1'02.1 T2, having finaly learned the meaning of the phrase "compromise corners", I blast by on the exit and power up the hill to a final time a good .25 seconds faster than my previous best. If only I could reign it in on that first corner and match or even beat my T2 by a hundredth, I could blast the last sector and grab those last .2 tenths. I plan to keep trying to the bitter end, but this week has tought me two things. One, this course is much easier in revers, (alla alto works vs Subaru raly wet) and two, the seats in the RZ are red.*

* I've spent alot of time driving inside my ghost.

Awsome Hugo, thanks :D

Just to make sure I understand properly, when you say "brake into the corner", do you mean trail-brake into the apex?

I cant seem to get the car to slide like I want it to in the downhill section after T1 if I leave it in 4th, so I have been taking it at about 89-90 in 3rd, then upshifitng at the bottom of the hill.. I believe im pretty fast through the hairpin tho (avg, no lower than 46mph, with a "good" exit).

Also, I dont know if anybody noticed, but if you lose alittle time in the last section, you get a lower speed down the straight, but you may not have to shift into 5th gear at the end of the straight, I noticed it can be easier (EDIT: read, faster) to get through the tunnel corner when that happens. Thoughts?

Hugo, In the last section im pretty fast, but on the whole im running around a quarter sec slower than you, and with your obvious performance on the rest of the lap, I find it hard to believe that im gaining anywhere near that amount of time in the last section.

Complex String? No, thanks (Who wants to take out his frustration on the Complex String after last week's WRS? :D) Escudo? Again, no thanks (Most wasted 1800+ HP in the history of (GT3) automobile :D) Complex String + Escudo? Total Insanity. :D That's not a cure for frustration... it's an energizer for it!

I don't want to hear about Complex String for a loooooooooooooong time, after last week's WRS (By the way, I know the race was on the Complex String II, but still, same track, same frustration :sly: )

Going back to SS5 + Mazda RX7 Type RZ... at least I get frustrated 1 minute and a half (roughly) at a time 👍 instead than 3 minutes and a half (roughly) with an uncontrollable beast 👎 :D

You got it :sly:

and bbq0801, you can also keep your car in 4th, even if you exit the last corner nicely. Just simply lift shortly before it hits the limiter. I'll try that tomorrow, only took it in 5th so far and that works perfect.

I did it. well sort of. Actualy I F'ed up the tunnel turn again, but i got that 4th gear slide thing working at the turn imidiately after T1. That caught me right up nicely, and feeling quite beside myself I grabed a T2 of 1'01.909 and said Bye Bye. This is the lap I will submit. It could be faster (obviously) But I don't see ME stringing it all together again.

[EDIT]

A quick question for Kent. Do you prefer that we send you our T times as well as the lap time when we PM our final times, or just the lap time?

What a dick I am :dunce:. No wonder I was so far behind you guys. I was doing the WET TRACK. Now I am in the dry, I have had T2 of 1.01.8xx

Will give it another go tonight. God, what a tit

New clean save of:

35.464 / 1:01.195

I managed to really nail that T1 to T2 section, but the T2 to finish really sucked as I only gained .071 off of my last save with a T2 of 1:01.583! :ouch: So I lost over .300 there.👎 I'll try again tomorrow, I can't get my T1's any lower yet. Maybe if I could I might give Hugo at least a little competition.

Edit: Sorry Persian Pride, that really sucks. It seems everyone around here ends up running the wrong track at least once. I haven't managed to do it yet, but I wouldn't put it past me.:dunce:

i just cant seem to nail this track, ive seen 35.5xx T1's if i can put up my usual T1 - T2 id see 1:01.6xx which would keep me in the running. monday and tuesday i will have to practise and see if i can put a half decent lap together.

WRS is helping me improve SO much! :) 👍

I have to agree with that. I am becoming a better driver by the week, since I joined WRS (which was only last week :sly: :D - but I started re-playing GT3 about a month before that, and I was trying to get better already)

A proof of this: after I got completely frustrated with SS5 and Mazda, I said to myself: "Let's see if I got any better at cornering/trailbraking/early braking" So I went to the licenses and I nailed all golds in the A License in a matter of 1 to 3 tries at the most. Except for A6 and A7... those I only have silver... In A7 the closest I got was xx.205, when the time I needed to beat for a gold was xx.200 :scared: - needless to say I was pretty 🤬 disappointed about that!

Anyway, WRS really makes you a better driver - it will prepare me pretty well for GT4 and the WRS associated with it (Right? Hint for Kent and the other guys to make a Series for GT4 as well ;))

T1:0:36.xxx
T2:1.03.xxx

That will be it for this week..Could only ran 6 laps.

@Kent:Expect analyzer data tomorrow 👍 (if I have some time :guilty: )

Had chance to run some more laps on this one.
Disappointed that I blew a 35.4 and 1'01.5 lap earlier :grumpy:
Now have clean save with
T1 35.644
T2 1'01.612
and 0.2s off overall. Now happier! :D
Still over a half second behind Hugo though. 👎

improved my time, Last sector not as good as i would like however its still quite good. hopeing to replicate T1 and T2 but add better last sector to it before the times up.

T1: 35.439
T2: 1:01.512
