Most of the top finishers in the last Board Challenge's used alot of TCS in High powered cars. Something to consider.

good goly, your gonna be quick now youve wacked on T8's :scared:

Ok, well... :D

Just remember fellas.
Not everyone is going to match Hugo, so all of you D2 and D3 guys asking where is that extra second (when already reffering to 46s)... :indiff:

Not that you shouldn't or can't get those times but come on.
Take it easy on yourself.
If you can't get down into D1 on the qualifier then you don't need to sweat keeping up with the fastest D1 racer.

Plus, you pull times like that and you can expect pressure regarding your laps.
Remember that hugo is a fast mutha with replays to back his laps. 👍
I expect the same from anyone trying to match him. 👍

Now regarding my laps...
I'm doing alright with this race.
Free run has finally started to show me 45s occassionally... (45.9 mostly) lol.
In race runs are showing me 51s (throughout the entire range from 51.0 to 51.9) and second/third lap runs are getting into the low/mid 46s on a consistant basis.

With any luck I should be able to get a nice race in before the week's end. 👍

Just gotta hope.

And for the record, even though I'm no Hugo Boss, I can tell you now that paying attention to mid-lap T times is a bad idea.
Usually it leads to a bad turn right after because you either pull your eyes off the road or you psych yourself out. :irked:

I just try to only watch T2 (and only if I can't avoid it).

Sometimes it's best to go into free run and run the track over and over.
Once you get consistant in free run you will be far more likely to get a good lap in the race.

Plus, for the record, I've been spending a lot of time in free run and that has been the only way for me to really get an idea of where my final lap times should be.
Trust me, that last section is tricky and if you don't do some free run you might not ever find out just how fast you could go.

Free run also gives you the chance to break-in the car. 👍
My castrol is at 1033hp now and I'm loving it.

Oh another thing I wanted to mention.
I set my car up on my own with my own setting. :indiff:
I tried Hugo's settings. :indiff: 👍
I tried a blend of the two. 👍 👍 :D

If any of you are having trouble on the rumbles and curbs remember that lowering your springs will be the first and most effective way to fight the tendency to lose it over the bumpy stuff. :sly:

Good luck in the racing...
I will be back with updates later today most likely. :D

Hope is one tough mofo to kill :D
As long as I have hope (and a PS2, GT#, some input device), I know Hugo's times will be in my reach, one day. :D

Just because many people when they started, had a D3 or a D2 qualifier, that doesn't mean they can't improve with time/practice/more practice/even more practice/and the list goes on...

One day, I will be in D1 podium too :sly: 👍

2 Years ago I wasn't as fast as I am now, so who doesn't give up... :sly:

Small_Fryz
Hugo do you ever get that Nervouse/wierd feeling when youve just done a 45.2xx on lap 2, or done your best sectors ever and you dont want to muck up the rest of the race by hitting a wall, but you know you have to push hard to keep the best sectors/great time going?

I do get that feeling, but I don't try to be more careful. I simply go flat out and see where it ends. If you are more careful, you'll chrash or lose way too much time 👎

Wizard,
Believe it or not but I was here for Week 1 and it was a solid Division 2 finish for me.
I stayed in division 2 for ten weeks. 👍

Eventually I made it to Div1. :sly:

So just for the record, I know what you meant about practice and getting better.
Thing is, I still am not near what Hugo is at.
Fact is, not many people get there and once you do get to that point people stop taking your word for how fast you're going and start expecting you to prove it.

That is why I said what I said. :)

Get better through practice but remember not to be too hard on yourselves when you can't keep up with D1's best. 👍

Hope you guys can manage some good clean laps this week, I know I will be trying. ;)

I know exactly what you mean, Kent. I know it's hard to believe that a human can reach so unbelievable times (that's why I think Hugo Boss is an alien from another planet :D).

I have been thinking about buying an Action Replay Max Drive for a long time, and the day has finally come. All my next races, counting this one, will have a replay to back my word up with :sly:

I am not implying that I am that good already, but since I wanted to buy it also to import other people's replays, making some hybrids, and other things, then I might as well show that I am honest, since I am going to have the device to do it in a matter of a few hours.

Plus, I managed some pretty good times for the other online racing challenge I am into (ISCC - International Street Car Challenge) and I want to provide proof of my words.

Maybe I will never reach Hugo Boss, but I am going to keep trying 👍

I came close to hugo last week :sly: , but that was on a track and car combo that i have great fun in, and i knew the track so well, before now Rome was just a track that i did in a series, apart from the italian advante grande (whatever its called) were i used a zonda c12s, ive never really pushed to go fast. This week not only am i trying to get 3 fast consistent laps but im also learning the track from scratch. I bet my bottom dollar Hugo has raced this track lots more than i have, and them races where olr where his done miles and miles of practise, Same goes for Tannis. Im amazed that i can even get times close to kent, and the other div 1 boys, as when i first joined i was miles and miles away.

Hoping to get into the 45's in a race and 51's for 1st lap, but we will see.

👍 Nice move, Wizard. Welcome in the good company of "verified" racers. You'll never regret that decision. 👍

Small update from me:

T1: 27.117 / 22.119 / 21.667
T2: 52.967 / 49.262 / 48.329

Now a little consistency, would be most welcomed. :D

Hello,

Looking forward to giving this a bash, but I'm cutting it a bit fine to have a decent time by Tuesday :scared: Reckon I picked a good week to re-join the ranks of the weekly racers... Rome has always been something of a bogey track for me... don't know exactly why, but it has always given me problems! Shame there is so much rugby on the TV this weekend though... I'll just have to get my priorities straight and put in the hours on the track. :D

Congratulations with your new buy 👍 . You're not only a verified driver now, you can also download replays of other drivers in your region and use them as a ghost. I'm sure you'll learn a lot from it, making the game even more enjoyable :)

Rome is my 2nd favourite track, after Côte. Needless to say I know my way there :D

Thanks for the appreciation, guys
Yes, I will be using other people's replays to learn and hopefully become better...
It's too bad I can't use your replays, Hugo Boss :(

Yeah, I guess us NTSC scrubbs aren't worth downloading.

LOL! :D
I didn't mean no harm against you guys which are part of the NTSC world (I am as well). It's just that Hugo is the fastest mofo on the (GT)Planet :sly:
And I have always (well, since I have been here ;)) wanted to see how he drives - that's all.

Unless somebody makes me a video out of Hugo's replays, I won't ever be able to see how in the world he pulls times at least 0.200 seconds faster than anybody else (when those times are pretty respectable to start with)

Don't take things personally - I didn't mean any offense.

After all, if you could choose who your master/teacher would be, I am sure you would pick the best one, as well ;)

Last night I saw a dirty T1 of 20.8 and a clean T2 (not in the same lap) of 46. something. Unfortunatey all i can manage in race mode are lousy 47s. although i can get those consistantly. it's time to hammer the three lapper and try to get my luck going. :sly:

oh yeah, thanks a bunch for the setings Hugo.

I say/think that every time I end up using his (Hugo Boss's) settings, which happens... well...
EVERY TIME :D

I hate this track, I've never liked this car, thats it for me this week. I made major improvements across the board, and I'm submiting my time now.

L1 T2: 53.424
L2 T2: 47.464
L3 T2: 47.431

Ok...first race, not bad won, it was clean times I'm not going to use because I can do better lol...

:dopey:

26.609 / 20.844 / 20.882
50.966 / 45.102 / 45.659 ( :grumpy: )

I still have probs with the start where i lose habitually 3 or 4 tenths ...
It's maybe coming from the fact that i don't use TCS.

if you guys get into the 44's im going to shoot myself.

On a more happier not, Brilliant times Tannis, glad to see you making Hugo Boss, work, unfortantly i cannot help you this week, maybe next week if the track is more familar 👍

Excellent advice... I'm struggling to be consistently in the 47's, although in Free Run I've managed a few good runs, but stringing three laps together back to back is a real challenge...

My story so far..

T1 27.041/21.539/21.787
T2 52.850/47.247/47.724

Don't have much more time before the deadline to improve upon that, so I'll probably end up submitting this race as my final attempt.. :indiff:

I wasn't getting far with my own (rushed) attempts at tuning so I used Hugo Boss' settings, but was all over the place (just goes to show how personal these settings can be..), but ended up doing alot better using boombexus' settings.. 👍

Done for this week. Time submitted.

26.375 / 20.830 / 20.897
50.762 / 45.401 / 45.419

Till next week!

At first I thought Kent lost his mind when I saw this weeks race.
Lots of horsepower, walls and three rounds. All the ingredients of a week full frustration. After 3 days I had my first clean replay and then others follow.
Dozens of dirty replays later, finally I have got a fast(for me) and clean one.
And you know what,I had a great time with this combo.
Further this week is a great test for the honor system off the wrs.

1) 26.520/21.451/21.598
2) 53.053/47.471/47.793

Just a quick question - as I just started doing some laps seriously...

What counts as part of the track in this case?

Everything contained between the walls (a.k.a. guardrails) - for example, even the parts that have those black-yellow stripes?

Anything, just as long as it's made of asphalt/concrete/stones?

Everything except that one spot where there's grass?

I just want to make sure, before I start calling my laps clean :D

The Wizard.

I asked the same question on one of the Mini Maniacs threads, and the answer was that yes, the yellow striped zone (inside of second turn after T1 for instance) is part of the track, as is the sidewalk before the final right turn.
Unless Kent says they're not, of course.
